He had no value at his price tag and I did not want to trade him. He will be a Bear if the price is right. If not...I got a good plan B.
I have a lot of doubt that Cutler goes for more than $15M... I guess I could be wrong, but I just don't see anyone shelling out that type of cash for anyone. I guess if Section wanted to just try to re-sign him at a cheaper rate, I think he could probably do so to save $3M to $4M..
I've got Freeman, so I wasn't in the market for a QB ... but I think I might take a run at Cutler. Bring it on sir.
How I wish that much cap room can sign everyone You might be able to sign 2 very good players. Some players goes very very high. NVM you have plenty of cap now.
I applaud Chicago for making such a bold move... 14mill is obscene given the cap at 58mill. We will however never know what he could have fetched on the trade market, so if the Bears don't sign him back, we'll never know the full magnitude of that decision. Free agency just got a lot more interesting than it already was.
Section if I knew he was on the market I would have offered. Even know I traded for Cassel ah well you sure do make things interesting
BTW..fair warning...Urlacher GOES OFF the market fairly soon. get your offers in NOW because as soon as FA starts...he is my starting Mike.
On the eve of free agency, I'd say Cutler's sudden release ranks as the surprise move of the GM season, at least thus far. It's a calculated risk by the Bears. On one hand, it's clear they want Cutler back in the fold, but it remains to be seen if they haven't just cut their franchise QB and gotten nothing back in return. Cutler is probably the biggest name in FA, pending what Denver decides to do.
The Cardinals just made things tough, too. I had fully expected them to Franchise Karlos Dansby. I'm kind of shocked that they are going to let him walk. I don't need a LB, but he should command a hefty sum in FA. Complicating my plans is the fact that they tendered Steve Breaston. I was hoping to get Breaston for relatively cheap in FA, now I am going to have to change my plans accordingly.
It is rumored that Karlos Dansby is in Chicago today...for some reason... maybe he has family there or something......
You freakin crack me up to no end brother. Glas you joined us BTW: It has been brought to my attention that I can still slide my tags around
Matt Cassel is the future. Favre is the now. I'm willing to give Favre his full 12 mil salary if I have too.
Actually, by my chart (albeit slightly modified) I show the value to be 1400 to 1184. The Pack probably could have added another 4th rounder (not sure if they had one or not) to make this fair but otherwise it's not as lopsided as you may have feared. Nice work.
