Well with all of the draft talk swirling around along with Free Agency and my current fascination with the CFL, I think two cats on the roster deserve another look. Q Moses..I've heard so many mixed opinions on him, from "if he plays OLB for us the D will be terrible" to last yr's "he will be traded to the Titans for a 7th rd pick" that perhaps his performance should be looked into, after all he has been here "3yrs!" 2007: 118 snaps..56 run/55 pass...overall rating 1.8...1.5 sacks 2008: 68 snaps...18 run/48 pass...overall rating 4.6...6 Qb pressures..-0- sacks 2009: 43 snaps 19 run/15 pass...overall rating...1.7...1 sack 229 plays in 3yrs Paul Soliai: 2009 370 snaps..221/146...rating -4.5...he was downgraded due to a poor passrush and 4 penalties. 2008: 101 plays...57/44...rating...-0.2 2007: 112 68 run/44 pass...rating...-7.7... Information from Pro Football Reference. http://www.profootballfocus.com/cst...ason=2009&teamid=17&stats=d&stype=r&playerid= Well, most people will more than likely focus on the obvious stats, namely Sacks, but when looking at these two players what stands out to me are two numbers: 1. 229 2. 583 Q Moses has not broken 200 snaps in two season of the Tony Sparano era, what is worse, in 3 seasons he does not have a single special teams tackle. The only conclusion that can be drawn is Sparano rarely plays him, and he only does one job, play OLB, and even then he rarely plays, chances are good barring some sort of clear leap upwards Q is in roster trouble. He has been consistent, but when a coach won't play you even with JT playing on a bum shoulder since early November, chances are good you are in roster trouble. Paul Soliai, the deal with Soliai is prior to 09, he rarely played, in 07 and 08 he had slightly more than 100 snaps, in 09 his 370 snaps were half as many as Randy Starks's 730, and by way of comparison Phillip Merling has 950 snaps (or so) in 2 seasons. Basically Soliai has played less in 3 seasons than Merling or Langford have played in 2 season, so Soliai has been on the roster three years but has the snap count of a 1st yr player. Soliai should have plenty of room to grow. Thoughts?
Soliai really showed some promise at times last year .... quickness and a motor like Sapp. Problem is -- that isn't what we are looking for at NT. I like him and prefer to keep him regardless, but will interesting to watch what happens.
More or less, imho fans think Soliai we think "he has been here 3 yrs and has done NOTHING! He has been here 3 yrs but he has as many snaps as a rookie player heading into his second season.
I like Soliai. He's one of the three picks over the last few years that I actually predicted corrected. And keep in mind, he didn't exactly have the best coaching his first year.
I think most fans are pleased with the way that Paul played last season, especially since it looked like he could be on the way out just prior to that. I'm excited to see how good he can be.
Soliai has potential for a very unique and hard to find position in the NFL. Moses, well, enough said.
Soliai has just started to show us his potential, lots more upside there IMHO. Q is going to have to show some serious stuff in TC or he's likely gone.
Soliai has the talent but, not the head. As I recall, he let his team down with two suspensions when we really needed him.
both Moses and Soliai have potential to be very good i would like to see Moses get more snaps a SOLB this season
Q pretty much has to win the starter's job, 4 yrs here, doesn't play ST, sooner or later if he shows no improvement he will be moved out in favor of a newbie with potential to be a starter.
Not really, that is the past... The thing with Q is...he will get a shot at winning the job or at least bumping up his playing time, the limited snaps he has gotten he has been decent, but "decent" only carries a player so far.
but charlie was decent right had the blocked punt in the jets game in 08 everyone forgets about that moses escapes me yeah pod decent don't get it done love having mike nolan here sort it out
