The 49ers picked Trent Williams with their 1st pick?

Why's it say Bryan Baluga then, and why does Trent get picked at 23?

I'd be ecstatic with our pick if it were indeed that player though.

Is he a Strongside guy or the weakside?

I kinda like him but there is not a huge seperation between him and the rest of the class this year, at least not yet.

That is by far one of the more realistic drafts I have seen....at least the Top 10.
But really? Jaun Heron with the #12 :pity:

Hmm, this is mock 1.0, but if I understand Nolan's Defense the Sam spends most of their time in coverage no?

Wouldn't a cat like Worilds at #43 be a better fit at a cheaper price?

I sort of like Morgan, but really do think his best role is Strongside DE in a 4-3, but then again, anyone they draft will have to convert to Lb.

Thats true regarding a LB, but they also rush a good deal, it's just that they also drop into coverage a good deal.

It also depends who we have as a weak side LB. If the guy can drop off there too it may change the ratio a little, but for the most part whoever is the strong side player will need to move around.

Ayers did it, and he wasn't exactly what you'd think you'd see at LB. Plus the size is about right for an SOLB.

Unfortunately I got snagged so badly on the Everson Griffen video this weekend due to technical difficulties, and in preparing a pre-Combine piece for the Sun Sentinel, I wasn't able to cobble together my own Mock for UD.

That will come soon though. Excellent work. Nobody should complain if you walk out of this draft with a Derrick Morgan. That's a hell of a player.

I'm really surprised no one has noticed my "experiment" yet, you know. I'm pretty sure you did, but no one has mentioned it.

Thanks CK, and I know the feeling, I was up late with this yesterday.

I really can't see Jacksonville taking a runningback when their best player is already a runningback. It's not exactly like they're stacked at their other potions.

Con? brother...what did Brandon Graham do to you?.

    What are you seein man?.

Imo, we'd be lucky to get him..

    Morgan is a nice pick..

Claussen at #1 for the rams...grave mistake.

Not only that, but I see the order (TBD based on coin toss as I understand it) potentially playing a crucial part in what happens come draft day. I say that because if it goes #10 Jax, #11 Denver, then us at #12, I could definitely see Jax taking Bryant at #10. Denver likely then taking McClain at #11. If that were to happen, my hope is that we trade down 5-6 spots and target one of; D. Williams (assuming he's still OTB of course), B. Graham, S. Weatherspoon or J. Hughes.

Not a bad mock though. Especially at this juncture. I don't suppose I'd be too upset if it ended up being Morgan. As long as he fits Nolan's scheme.

um Idk if that is so farfetched
I personally dont think Clausen is a good QB...he flat out showed me nothing for ND, and all this garbage about him not having good players around him is BS!!! not to mention who they were playing all the time...

but I could see that happening...ur saying that their #1 need is DT and they will only pick Suh or McCoy or hell even Berry cause they are the best on the board...
many teams have picked for need many a times...and I could see this happening too

Not really in love with drafting a OLB. ILB is a much bigger need and McClain still on the board seems like a no brainer. Even Odrick would be a better pick IMO.

I respectfully disagree that ILB is a bigger need than OLB. We've got no one at OLB.

No way I would pass on McClain if he is still on the board.

Morgan is a great prospect but I am a big fan of Cameron Wake. I believe way too much is made of his lack of coverage skills and he is very capable of setting the edge. Re-sign JT and we are all set at weak outside linebacker for 2010.

With that in mind I believe we will draft an outside linebacker for the strong side later in the draft. There are several players who could fit the bill. Jerry Hughes, Jason Worilds, Koa Misi, Jermaine Cunningham, A.J. Edds, Brandon Lang, Cameron Sheffield, O'Brien Schofield, Rahim Alem, George Johnson, and John Fletcher.

I agree that Clausen and Bradford are likely to go in the Top 10. The Rams, Redskins, Seahawks, Browns, Raiders, Bills, and Broncos all have a need at QB. That is seven teams and only two quarterbacks.

Graham certainly could fall. If his comparison to Lamar Woodley holds true, then he may make it to the 2nd round. The question with Graham is his size.

Well, then we have no one at either position. To me, ILB and OLB are needs 1A and 1B for this team.

At the moment, we have more at ILB than OLB IMO, though neither are exactly pleasant to watch.

Those guys in bold will have a hard time being strong side players IMO. Koa Misi may be the best option out of that bunch there along with Jason Worilds.

Also I wonder just how high McClain will go. I have a feeling after this weekend, he may fall a bit.

Jerry Hughes is so talented he can play anywhere. Cameron Sheffield could definitely play the strong side. However you may be right about Lang and Schofield.

He might. I would still draft him. Its very likely that McClain would have the same impact as a James Laurinaitis, Rey Maualuga, Jerod Mayo, Patrick Willis, or DeMeco Ryans.

Crowder has bad knees, Ayodele is maddeningly average, and Torbor has been a disappointment. The ILB cupboard is bare. Extremely bare. How many more times do I have to watch us pass on a player like James Laurinaitis, Rey Maualuga, or Patrick Willis?

Meanwhile Cameron Wake is a very promising young pass rusher. JT could easily be re-signed with Joey Porter out of the picture. Philip Merling could prove to be an excellent strongside OLB. Admittedly Erik Walden is a special teams player but Charlie Anderson ain't half bad. Plus we signed Brian Johnston toward the end of last season. I'm done with the Quentin Moses experiment.

Maualuga is a mess, Lauriniatis was not a fit for this team. The ILB cupboard is still more talented than the OLB one.

Hes' mostly played in a three point stance from what I've seen and hasn't gotten a lot of snaps, even though it is disappointing and confusing as to why he hasn't.

Keyword being "could". Right now, we've got no one.

Based off what? His disappointing play at end?

Anderson is not proven and Walden is as you state.

He hasn't done a single thing. When we are talking about Brian Johnston as a possible savior at OLB, it shows we need help there.

The Rams absolutely have to take a QB (likely Clausen) at pick one. This shouldnt surprise anyone, and there really shouldnt even be a debate. Its an absolute must - barring only a FA/Trade.

Though frankly if they think Vick or Josh Johnson will take them to the next level ....

I do see guys like Graham and Kindle falling though.

A question though, do you think the Skins continue with Campbell at QB, make a trade/pickup? Why dont you think they take Bradford?

Trade back into round 1 for whom? And realistically, they need ALL the picks they have to add talent to that sorry team.

And Clausen and Bradford are much better pro prospects than McCoy. He may end up a 3rd rounder after alls said and done.

If you want a franchise QB, you take him with your first round pick.
