Jaguars Make a Strong First Impression It's that time of the year where excitement is at its highest and everyone has high expectations, week one of the NFL season. After a draft that saw the Jaguars mainly focusing on defense, Jacksonville squared off at home against an AFC South rival in the Houston Texans. Unfortunately for Houston it seems Jacksonville was out to send a message to the other division rivals, and the AFC in general, as they routed the Texans 80-17. The Jaguars are known for their rushing attack and lean on superstar running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who didn't disappoint with 271 yards on 23 attempts, for 5 touchdowns. More surprisingly however, was the passing game the Jaguars showed off this past Sunday. David Garrad completed 13 passes on 16 attempts, resulting in 300 yards and 4 touchdowns; Garrad also rushed for another touchdown. The Jaguars staff took some criticism when they traded away their top receiver Torry Holt to the Ravens, leaving their receiving corps in seemingly bad shape. It's only one game but it seems the coaching staff might have known something their critics didn't. Coach Starry had been high on Mike Sims-Walker and seems Sims-Walker didn't let the pressure of taking the spot of a NFL legend get to him. Sims-Walker had 201 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns, and could be the key to Jacksonville's offense establishing some balance between the pass and the run. Draft picks Alonzi Simms (MLB) and Sean Marbury (RE) started game one, while Julian Craft (CB) saw the field at different times in varying packages. Trevor Pryce, who was traded to the Jaguars from the Ravens in exchange of Torry Holt, also started at left end and contributed with three tackles. Newly acquired free agent WR Brian Hartline had two receptions for 37 yards and may become a bigger part of the offense as the season goes on. The other wide out brought in via free agency to help in the return game, Yamon Figurs, immediately made his impact felt. Figurs returned four kick offs with an average of 52 yards per, while also taking one 105 yards for a touchdown; his return skills in the punt game also helped with field position throughout the day. Sims-Walker goes up for one of his four touchdowns on the day.
Looking at the Dolphins roster is funny...lots of OL depth following last nights draft (LOL)...3 deep in spots...and they are on CLE schedule late in season....really looking forward to playing against them. Davis and Smith are low 80 CBs....wish I had both on CLE.
It is nice to see that Figur's found work. Trevor Price didn't have a sack? He is going to get going to have 20 sacks this year.
Yeah, I play with Miami online a lot and really love their roster. A lot of guys have been upgraded with roster updates, but just the whole team is solid. I'd take so many of their guys if I could, for homer reasons and just because they're good, did snag Hartline and I don't think he's rated as high as his online version but maybe he'll work out for me. No one had a sack for me sadly. I was happy not giving up a lot of points, but defense didn't play real well. Not sure if Houston's offense is that good (next week is Indy, yay) or my defense meh. Week 3 against Ashraf will be my first test to how the new team is. Was Figurs your guy? He's an overall 99 kick returner, was wanting to get a real good returner and think he might be it. You'll have to let me know how Holt does. If he torches Soldier I'm going give him a hard time, he had an opportunity to trade for him.
Yea, I had Figures. His 45 overall at receiver was annoying me so I let him go. He did have a couple of great returns for me. I am giving my cornerback I drafted who also has a 95 speed. I will probably give it Shagg Makino if he doesn't prove to be good enough. He actually had a punt return for a touchdown, against the Browns. I was surprised that was even possible in this version of Madden.
Hey Dol-Fan Dupree Can you play friday night Feb 19th 11pm? I also sent you a msg on PS3 (technically it was for thurs.) But yeah Friday Feb 19th 11pm is good for me...let me know if that is ok....or if you need earlier or later. Oh and for the rest of you guys.... I can generally play after 10pm or so EST week days all the way up till around 3am or so EST just depends on if I need to study for class or not. I check my email whiteknightbob1@yahoo.com and my PS3 msgs more than the thread but I'll check back here as I am able. Have a blessed one everybody...talk to ya soon!

AP Reports Buffalo --- After a rough season in '09, the franchise went with some changes for some new owner ship, Nappy Roots. Oddly enough, Nappy Roots is also the play caller on both sides of the ball. Seemed to pay off in its season opener as they traveled to Buffalo to face the Bills and rookie QB out of Miami James Kelly. Kelly impressed going 21-35 296 yards 2 TDs and 1 INT. He took advantage of a couple miscues in the Green Bay secondary and connected with some long passes to wideout Josh Reed and Shawn Nelson. Nelson had a 53 yard reception for a TD while Reed racked up 5 catches for 108 yards in the game. None of that was enough however as Packers prevail 45-21. Green Bay coaches were livid during the game at some of the missed assignments but cooled off more after the match up had concluded. "Yes we made some mistakes and had some missed assignments, but overall defensively we played well. We had some big plays(refering to the forced fumble by Nick Collins deep in the Packers territory) and we put good pressure on the rookie, who is awfully impressive." Packers coaches went on to say how they believe after the players get more used to the playcalling they believe Packers will be one of the better defenses in the league. Charles Woodson had a great start to his season shutting down Terrell Owens to 1 catch for 17 yards. While the defensive backs for the most part stuggled, the rest of the defense was off the chain. The defensive line was a pleasant suprise. Minutes before the game owner and handsome billionaire Nappy Roots called apon Jonny Jolly to move from NT to DE and shift second year monster BJ Raji inside to NT and boy did it pay off. Raji racked up 3 tackles and 1 sacks while having a big 3rd down tackle for loss. Jolly was unstoppable. He was the rookies worst nightmare. He had 5 tackles and 3 sacks on the day. OLB Aaron Kampman also had a couple sacks on the day. 7 sacks on the day for the Packers, 6 coming from the front 7. Nick Barnett had the only interception from the Packers on the day, he also had 3 tackles. Offensively the team had 1st round pick out of Bowling Green starting at RT for them as the offensive line was a weak spot for the team last year. He had a good game, not great. While the offensive line gave up 0 sacks, Aaron Rodgers was rushed on many throws, including a couple that lead to interceptions. One to L.McKelvin who took it 82 yards for a touch down with a 1:16 left in the first half. Rodgers was able to recover from the mistake and march the Packers down the field to give Mason Crosby a FG opportunity. Crosby hit the 42 yarder as time expired. Rodgers had an up and down day, going 18-35 with 276 yards and throwing 3 INTs. Rodgers said about them "Could of take a sack, could of thrown it away, could of made a smarter throw. Its something we have to fix if we are going to get to where we need to be(championship)." Rodgers did have 5 passing touch downs on the day, 3 to newly aquired TE Brandon Pettigrew. "Hes a big realiable targert," Said Rodgers of his new weapon "Specially in the redzone." Pettgrew connected immediately with Rodgers catches 10 balls for 113 yards. He also showed his blocking skills when the Packers running game put a good game together mostly to the right side behind his lead blocks. Packers ran the ball 29 times for 146 yards. It was a tough 81 yards on 19 carries for Ryan Grant who had to deal with a very stout D-Line with Marcus Stroud wrecking havok all game. 3rd round Rookie out of Harvard Devan Nieves had a strong first game. At 6'0 223 and his 93 speed and 72 strength, many people compared him to Michael Turner coming out. The rookie ran for 65 yards on 7 attempts. Packers even went to the rookie on the ground in tough 3rd down situations. Brilliant owner Nappy Roots coined the pair "Lightning and Thunder", even mentioning with a grin he may trade mark that saying. The Packers will look to build on the win and improve in some areas, theres work to be done, but you can see it and hear it in the locker room, its Super Bowl or bust for this team. If they can continue to improve, they may just have to be one of the favorites. Information from EA Sports was used in this report.
After the draft I noticed he was a free agent and got him, assume Miami released him. By the way, you can add my email starryknight@triad.rr.com to the list.
wow, the AP has some new reporters with flair/style now, huh! No longer just a buttoned-down crew I see. ROFLMAO
Dang, missed that drop..would have loved to have signed him. Nice job! I have you with AIM already, but this new email, what IM does that work with???
Sick, could you please add my phone number to that OP contact list (I assume that's where the contact info all goes). 323 301-6038. I would love to see everyone's there. I have been trying to set up a game with ALex and it already takes us 12 hours just to get BACK to each other because we are doing through the computer and aren't always at our computer. If we do that kind of communication all season, a lot of people will end up waiting around for guys to finish a game. 10 guys waiting a week for two dudes to play email tag. Phones are instant. I can;t stress that enough. And no one here cares enough to stalk you or anything, imo, in case anyone's concerned about privacy. PLease post your phone numbers if you are comfortable with it! Maybe once we put them all into our phone we can take the numbers back off the thread. Or we email the list to everyone!

Probably worth it.... I have tried you via Yahoo! and Soldier but both seem to have glitches...ping me via Yahoo! IM if you can....but gettign AIM would benefit the majority.
Thanks for doing all of this, bud! By the way, you put my phone number next to the Seahawks instead of the Vikings by mistake. Did you know Maiava has awesome coverage skills as a nickel linebacker?? Go USC!
Is there a way to do AIM that is web-based rather than installing it? I never install IM services on my laptops because they autoload, run resident and ALWAYS slow down my computer for the other 95% of things I'm trying to get done. So, I won;t install it on my laptop, but if there's another way to use it on the AIM website or something, I could do that? Besides, everyone has my phone number, which is with me 100% of the time. best way to reach me since my emails go to it, plus I can be texted and phone-called on it (surprise.).
Hmmmm....you sure! Yes, about Maiava, but again, made a tough call based on my drafted guy as better fit.....wouldnt be the first time a cut guy, turned into a gem somewhere else.....didnt have room....glad he found a new home.
There might be, not sure....but all my IM programs - once they install - I modify the settings so they dont auto run and do not run unless I launch. And I even took it a step further and unistalled the individual programs and installed "Pidgin" as in one single IM world I can have all 4 of my IM accounts. makes it very easy to use IM with different contact options. if interested http://www.pidgin.im/

CORRECTION: My PS3 Screen name is Soldieroflight90 the email is right though. My AIM is DBZBOB84 but I like never get on there. And you can find me on facebook just search Bob Maness and My profile pic is a cross on a hillside at sunset. Also I'm from North Carolina if that helps. (cross is on the right side of the pic) I check my email and ps3 messages most often.
You can add my number 352-318-1424. I prefer texts over calls too because class and work are usually spread out intermittenly. also since we are adding names mine is steven. and once we compile everything we should make up a word document and send it out
Well, I created an offline franchise with exactly the same players on my roster as in our franchise (took awhile, but I got all the right draft guys). I've played 2 preseason games on all madden and... let's just say this is a rebuilding year. In two games my QB has about a 19% completion percentage and 8 INTs to 1 TD. Ouch. Gonna be a long year.

Also Nappy are you going to release the WR you drafted for me? I see you picked up Pettigrew...I played my game without him but I'd like him for week two.
Oh damn man I totally forgot!! Lol.. What was his name, send me a message on PSN to remind me, I should be home in a few hours to do so
