IIRC there was also a rumor that McClain was behind Spikes on the Dolphin's board. This was a while ago and obviously the Dolphins don't have their actual board up, but I think it was a report from someone who spoke with Ireland.

This wouldn't surprise me all that much. I'm not sure I agree, I have McClain above Spikes (but not by much). But it seems possible to me that Ireland would prefer the slightly more athletic and versatile Spikes over the slightly more instinctive and physical McClain. This FO has a tendency to emphasize versatility.

Col, IMO, you can take all of these highly paid eperts, put them all in one bag, shake'em up real good and what you'd have left might buy you a $5 latte at Starbucks. ;) What I'm saying is that if there are 50 "experts" out there, we'll have 50 different answers. Particularly right now before the combine and FA, neither really has a clue who will take who or what. just my opinion tho but over the years, we have a handful of fellers right here on this site that are as good as any I've seen out there. Kiper included. A week before the draft, the experts are coming a little closer as the picture clears but who wouldn't think so?

I think there's a good chance both are there when we pick. Tough choice. A receiver like Dez Brant doesn't come around very often. Think I go offense on this one.

I would be just fine with Mclain, Im tired of watching Crowder out there looking lost and me knowing he is our best MLB....wich is SAD.

Mel K has been pushing Wr on the Dolphins for the last two drafts and he is going for 3 for 3 in this draft.

I'd go with Bryant though, we need someone who can dominate a game on offense, but my eye is on Eric Berry...slide on down to Miami baby..

The Dolphins over the years have been known for having great Middle Linebackers or inside Linebackers, Zack Thomas, John Offerdahl, Nick Buoniconti. Maybe that is what it will take for our defense to become elite.
Bryant and McClain are both good players but for right now I am hoping for McClain.

I'd take McClain, because, quite frankly, our defense is in more dire need than our offense.

I think that we all want a #1 receiver on this team in the worst way. But, I agree that our defense is still sorely lacking. I just don't think that Bryant will be there anyway and there isn't another receiver I can justify taking at 12. I still believe it will be McClain at 12 and if he is not there we will try to trade back to around 20 and pick up either Graham or one of the Nose Tackles that will be there. I still see Brandon LaFell as a real option in the 2nd.

Well, here's the thing. We won't really know this until after FA. Now I understand this may not be the biggest FA market due to the changes in the CBA this offseason, but IF we were to acquire an Antonio Bryant or V. Jackson or Boldin or someone of that ilk then I highly doubt a debate for Dez goes on. In the same light, if we pick up Dansby, then an ILB is unlikely at #12. If the draft order changes, either before April or during the draft itself, then things change for us....to speculate that ILB and WR are not high on our draft pecking order isn't exactly a newsroom coup. I think we'll have a clearer picture as time goes on, but really, if by some miracle we picked up Bryant and Dansby...I guess the Great Hair would be wrong totally about us, wouldn't he ???

IMO, teams will still plan to limit your strengths...

If we do aquire by draft/FA a legit #1 WR, Defenses will still stack the box to stop the run, until we consistantly prove that we have a legitimate threat at WR...

Henne in his first legit year as a starter was inconsistant, as expected, but can we all consider this...

We all know his receivers dropped passes in his first 10 games started, but they just bout grabbed everything thrown their way in the last 3...

In the last 3 games of the season, Henne biggest issue was TO's... going from 2% to 5 % in INTs... doubled his INTs in the last 3...

and Yes we can blame the Defense for putting him on the spot, but if he is the future franchise QB than he has to fill those shoes and he puts all blame on him, like his character alot...

Anyways back on topic... our receivers can do well as long as our QB gets them the ball, shown by the last 3 game of the season, when the games mattered most...

What failed us in the last 3 that killed our season was our Defense, and that in my opinion what this draft should be about...

Well, I would much rather see this team take a playmaking linebacker first and foremost. It's what we need the most. BUT....if McClain isn't that guy (only watched two of his games and I can't say I was blown away), and there isn't another, then Bryant would be a nice pick. Being a Mizzou fan and watching him in action on several occasions, I can say he is the real deal. I don't care what he runs in the 40 or how high he jumps at the combine, this guy shreds secondaries on the field in the worst way. When I watched him play, the name that came to mind was Andre Johnson. But that's just me.
