Not sure if it was posted already, didn't see it.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/10490/video-wilfork-would-like-dolphins-option

Not sure how much of that is fact or not. But it was on Tim Graham's blog, and he seems like he doesn't post much from the gossip mill.

Didn't get to watch the video, at work :(

All of these players want to talk to us and play for us, our FO has got to go get a few of these guys. Vince Wilfork in between Randy Starks and Kendall Langford and Karlos Dansby behind them? I'm trying REALLY hard not to get my hopes up.

P.S. Is this considered tampering? :shifty:

Sounds good, if he runs up the price for the Patriots.

At this point, I'm not interested in forking (no pun intended) over a whole ton of guarenteed cash for a one-dimensional NT. I'd prefer to give those snaps to Soliai and use the monetary resources available to fill other holes, such as FS when Bell is cut.

I am guessing that if we sign a premier free agent we'll just front load a lot of the money being it's an uncapped year... I think if done right, the no-salary cap can help us moreso than hurt us.... this is just my assumption though.

I'm working off the assumption that, at some point this offseason, Ross will hand down a strict budget for the football-side of the operation, regardless of what happens with the CBA negotiations and salary cap.

Under this scenario, I don't think that handing a boatload of cash to a NT, who will undoubtedly come off the field in passing situations, is going to return the maximum benefit for this franchise in 2010 (especially when you consider what we currently have in Soliai) that might be achieved by spending that money elsewhere.

    Just my two cents.

I am sure you're right about the budget, but in general, I see more front-loaded contracts this year... I would rather have Dansby over Wilfork, but who knows.. maybe Wilfork will come at a discount price to come here... doubtful, but you never know.

you're undervaluing the position though. He may come off the field during passing situations but having a top 5 NT makes your LBs that much better.

Crowder and McClain behind Wilfork would set our entire defense up perfectly.

I'm not undervaluing anything. I'm looking at what we currently have on the roster on the defensive-side of the football (NT - Soliai, ILB - Crowder, Ayodele, Torbor, FS - Clemons) and feel that our finite monetary resources would be better utilized acquiring talent at other positions.

That's not to say I don't value the NT position or the player Wilfork has developed into. It just means that in relation to some other positions on defense, our situation at NT isn't exactly "dire".

McDonald's, Haggen Daz, and taco Bell would be pumped too.

I would like him here if he does a 3 month stint at Jenny Craig and dropped the extra 40 pounds he is carrying.

i dont know what he is right now becuase i havnt seen Vince Wilfork since the pats lost to the ravens. but i am just going off of what they have him listed as on ESPN, Rotoworld, and NFL.com but his playing weight is usally around 325 sure he probably gains weight in the off season but what lineman doesnt but if he was signed here i am sure we would have a weight clause in his Contract just like we do in jake longs

Dansby and Wilfork in the middle would go a long way towards giving us a great middle core to our defense against the run. Folks would be fearful of running there. The cost would be a little high, but considering what we've paid WR Wilford and Gibril Wilson I'd happily pay more for guys that are almost a sure bet to step in and make us better. Spending big bucks on "potential" guys hasnt worked out. I'd rather go with proven studs.

It's funny, I remember the same thing as well. Was that just appeasement for the NE crowd or a real sentiment? I can't see NE letting this guy get away, at least not this year. My feeling is he will be franchised.

I really hope that Ferguson comes back for one more go and we can draft a young guy behind him for him to groom, because unlike a few posters here, I don't think we have much in Soliai. For a big guy, he really gets moved around pretty easily.

The Pats would be stupid not to Franchise him in a non-cap year. Although in fairness they're going to probably shoot themselves in the foot, because as upset as he's going to be about that whole Franchise tag, he likely will not play 100%. If he did, I'd be insanely impressed with him.

    No doubt.

This has been one of the worst drafting franchises since 2000. Only since Parcells and Co. arrived has there been any real gameplan on how we were going to draft, how we were going to build this team.

I'd hate to take the pats side here instead of the player, Franchising Wilfork will not only prevent them from losing him it will prevent him from playing for the phins

This is a no brainer if your the pats

No salary cap means Wilfork getting paid doesn't offer us a competitive advantage by possibly precluding the Pats from adding talent due to cap restrictions.

We should be hoping that Wilfork either signs with us or leaves the division.

He got over it pretty quick. During the Saban years he said he didnt like the gap assignments he was asked to play in NE and said he would rather play in Sabans D. One of our members (Fineas?) ran into him at some event and got to talk to him for a while.

If we could add Wilfork to the front line, and somehow get Griffen and/or Spikes, I think this offseason could be considered highly successful.

We should be able to sign 1 of the 2, along with a top tier free agent wide receiver..Then go one two in the draft with 2 more players for both units..

    Anquan..Karlos..Brandon..Gronkowski....or something like that..

4 players..2 units in desperate need of talent..2 vehicles {draft, free agency}, you wind up with 4 players that have close to 1st round grade....ive said it a 100 times..
