Per 560 and Twitter, former Dolphins TE and current 560 WQAM host Jim Mandich has been hospitalized with an undisclosed illness. He's been on leave from the station since the end of the Super Bowl. His family wants the matter to remain private however, hence the undisclosed illness. Hopefully whatever it is it's not overly serious. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
It must be serious .Maddog does not seem to be the type who would be an alarmist . I wish him all the best and a good prognosis for a recovery.
Yeah, I'm kind of thinking it's serious just because the family isn't giving any details. Love Mad Dog and hope he gets well soon. He's got to be in the booth as we make our Super Bowl run this year.
I don't get to hear any Dolphins broadcasts, but I sure enjoyed watching him play. He was a baller. Get well soon Mad Dog!
Man....get well Mad Dog....I very much hope this isnt serious. I listen to him almost every afternoon via the Internet......he's the true voice of the Phins....
Hope to hear many Alll...right... Miami in yearrs to come... Get well soon Mr. Mad Dog... Can't forget the " Ask the Mad Dog" segments... "Yes Sir"...
I love to hear Alll...right... Miami each week! get better soon! I too think its serious since the family is not disclosing his illness...
In Orlando during conflicts with the Jags (a whole rant I could fill an entire forum on), I often have had to turn to (One of the stations plays the Official Miami Dolphins Radio station, 105.9 I think it is?) the radio to get any glimpse of minute by minute action on the Dolphins. They really do provide a great bit of coverage before, during, and after the game. And the Mad Dog is such an icon of that it's really hard to imagine listening to a broadcast without him. He's a great commentator, as well as fan. He's willing to call something boneheaded when it is, but when things go right you know where his heart is at. My hopes and prayers go out!
Terrible news. Prayers go out and to him and his family. Here's hoping it's nothing serious and he has a speedy recovery.
Get well soon Mad Dog. You gotta be here making me laugh and smile on Sundays when I can't watch the game. My prayers to you and your family and a speedy recovery.
Mandich ill I heard Jim's fill in went back home to bring her dogs down. This does not look good for Jim. It look like shes planning on filling in for Jim for at least the next month.
Yep..it begins with the dog or cats "coming to visit" then a small wardrobe begins to build, then a toothbrush shows up. Come on Mad Dog, get well soon, Anita M is cool but still....
He was our best TE ever, and currently our #1 fan and my favorite media personality associated with the Phins, and certainly the most knowledgeable when discussing football. I LOVE Mad Dog too, and really hope for his full recovery ASAP.
my boy from miami told me he was retiring soon, have you heard that? I hope not, iam moving to miami soon, and I want that voice every day in my restaurant bringing me that sense of miami dolphin culture.
Get Well Soon Jim I sent this link to Nick Mandich, Jim's son. If that doesn't work I'll have Nick tell his dad that Nick Saban is the new coach for the Fins and that Butch Davis will be the new coach at Michigan! Can you imagine Jim's reaction to that news....lol
Muck, Thats true, Jim said this will be his last year doing his radio show but plans on being the color man on the football broadcasts for some time to come. Lets hope Jim is able to finish out his final year at WQAM.
