I thought The Office was pretty good last night. The stuff with Michael was gold and I'm shocked to say that Jim was actually funny in this episode too (for the first time all season it feels like). I did also notice that Andy (Ed Helms) has been added to the title credits, they still need to update that especially for Michael, Dwight and Ryan. It looks like Jim and Pam will be having their baby in a special 2 part episode on March 4th and 11th. And Andy and Erin will finally be going out on a date in the March 11th episode.
Last nights episode was pretty good. Its cool that they put Jim back in sales while he makes more money, maybe since Jim and Pam sit next to each other they will go back to pulling classic pranks on Dwight. Also I am really liking the way they are going about the Andy/Erin story. Only one thing I didn't like was that I found the lady with the dogs, the CEO of Sabre to be obnoxious.
I think they realized their mistake with Jim playing the role of manager... And are using the Sabre deal to erase the past somewhat. I think if anything saved the show from being gone in a year, this did it...
Agreed Jim in upper management just felt forced and awkward and in turn turned him into a non funny character/authority figure. I'm glad they moved him back to sales again. It will be interesting to see what they do once Pam has the baby, if anything at all. Because most of the stuff that happens in The Office happens during business hours it will be easy to hide the baby from the show because let's face it when has having and introducing a baby ever worked on a TV before?
I love how you guys even think that this show has a chance of coming to an end soon. If it does, it will be by their own designs, not by NBC. The Office is consistently the number one show on the Peacock and performs very well in the 18-25 demo. It also continues to get critical praise as well. This show goes on for another four to five years if it wants to. To put things in perspective, Heroes has had 2.0 million viewers most of the episodes since winter break and it still looks pretty good for it to come back next year because NBC's schedule is a wasteland and it is thought that the pilot season for them is weak as well. NBC has ONE thing going for it in primetime right now and that is the revival of Thursday comedy. The Office is the linchpin of that, trust me, it wasn't going anywhere. One more thing, Jim was always planned to go back to sales. I saw something in September from the costume person on the show that mentioned that Jim goes through a period where he wears suits on the show. The first thing he did when going back to sales? Strip off the coat, roll up his sleeves, and go back to his normal look. So yeah, this had nothing to do with him as manager not working out creatively.
I thought the first half an hour of The Office last night was very good while the 2nd half dragged a bit. I thought Kevin was the star of the episode between his '2nd breakfast, 1st lunch, 2nd lunch, 1st dinner speech' to his 'date' with Erin all pretty good scenes. I also liked his comments during the conference room meeting especially with the spicy food. Next week's episode should be good with Andy and Erin's first date.
Anyone else think Erin and her step brother get reminded of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine dates that guy is living with his sister?
Last night's episode was pretty boring. I know the show is still pulling big numbers but you have to wonder if next season might be their last. It would be the 7th season which is great that it lasted this long but the show has been going downhill for awhile now compared to the earlier seasons.
I understand where you are coming from (although I don't agree, I still think the show has been on an even par of funny since season 3, season 2 being the gleaming high point of comedy), but there is no way it ends next season, NBC simply will not allow it. NBC is still in a bad way and the Thursday night comedies is one of few good things going on the network. Perhaps in two years, after two whole pilot seasons come and pass, but it goes at least 8 seasons.
Damn. Me and Cynthia started watching it on Netlifx...and are halfway thru season five. I open this thread and find out Pam is pregnant. **** you Chris! Dammit. Just as might read thru the whole thread now.
