Well, as Yogi Berra would say...it's like deja vu all over again. We got pounded with another HUGE snow storm last night. Got anywhere between 20"-24" already, and it's still coming down! It was all I could do to clear a path for my dog to go out and relieve herself first thing this morning. I'll be shoveling all weekend, assuming my back holds out that is. Anyone else hatin' life this morning?
Just kicked 12" of snow's arse with a shovel (& my 9 yo daughter "helped")....I'm sure I'll be feeling it later. I plan to finish the rest of w/ my snow thrower, provided it is only another 6" like people on TV say
Am I the only one that initially thought this thread is about Blizzard Entertainment from the thread title?
All it does down here s. of Atlanta is: rain, drizzle, rain, flood, rain, drizzle and on and on. It's 37 right now at 2:52 pm. I love cool and cold, not a summer person at all, but all this rain is getting depressing.
About 26" in the Philly area. This storm is bigger then the December one. That one was the second biggest in our history. Now its this one.
Hey, I'm over in Cherry Hill, NJ. What was the final figure for Philly? I was watching CBS 3 and the last figure I saw was 26.7". They probably gave the final figure while I was out taking care of what fell between 10-3...I missed it.
We just had a pretty good rain storm for the last two days here in San Diego, so that will be heading your way very shortly probably in the form of more snow.
I have a truck with a plow on it so I always make real good money but that being said I friggin HATE snow.
Yeah, round two is on it's way today/tonight. Weatherman says between 12"-18" with high winds. We have enough food to get us through. And, I've got 4-wheel drive, so if we have to get out, we can. But, at this point worrying about the roof, and possibly losing power is what's keeping me up at night.
What concerns me most is that yesterday morning, they were calling for 5-10". Then last night they upped it to 6-12" and when I got up this morning, it was up again to 10-18". lord only knows what they'll jump it to by this evening when it is "scheduled" to begin or even what we'll wind up with.
Stay safe you snow birds. I hope you all keep your power and it goes away without anything bad happening.
Well, we came through "round 2" in pretty good shape, all things considered. Probably got about another 10", give or take. Although, the way it was blowing, it's really hard to say. The county had bobcats out clearing the street at like 2AM last night. Now the fun begins...digging out. How is everyone else doing?
Man, you guys in the Midwest and on the East Coast have been just HAMMERED. We had a very chilly (in the teens) Fall, but so far it's been one of the mildest Winters I can remember in 15 years here.
We wound up with another foot. My last tally is a bit over 54" for the season so far and we barely average 20". Record amounts for the entire region. At least I don't have to be out working in it any more tho. This would've been a real ***** and I feel for my old comrades in brown!!!
we just got 3 inches in Dallas this morning and it's still snowing. First snowfall I've seen here that was significant in 15 years
We're supposed to get 1 to 2 inches here in SW GA tomorrow. May not sound like much to most of you, but down here the people go nuts. I'm originally from Ohio, so it doesn't bother me much, but the southerners will freak and strip the grocery stores etc.
We've gotten 5 of these things this winter in WV,but on the plus side, since we havent had time to do it this time, our lazy a$$ neighbors are digging out the road rather then letting me or my wife do it.They must be running low on supplies.
what sucks about snow here is no one has snow tires and our DOT's don't have enough trucks or salt to keep everything going. People laugh about everything closing when we get any snow, it's because no one here is equipped to do anything about it. Most people don't even have a snow shovel, an ice scraper, or any other necessities to handle it. Also 75% of the people drive 2 wheel drive trucks or SUVs and can't drive which makes any kind of travel an adventure haha
Our genius governor decided that this would be a good year to cut the salt and plow budget,as soon as I heard the announcment I knew we'd just been jinxed.
Well, just got done clearing and shoveling for the day. Have to pile the stuff up and pack it on the sides to create walls. Some of 'em are over 5' tall. Back is sore but I'm holdin' up OK, for an old fart...lol. Wife been helpin' me here and there. The boy even gave me a hand this morning. Reckon they don't wanna see the old man havin' a heart attack or what have you. On the plus side, got the last two days off. And, the boy and the dog love, love, love it. Got some pics and video footage today. He will remember this winter for years to come, I think. Hope everyone else gettin' along OK. For all those affected, just hang in there, have a cold one, and keep tellin' yourself spring is right around the corner.
Hey, I have no problem with this snow. Didn't have school Monday, yesterday or today. And I don't have school tomorrow either. Add Monday to that because of President's day. Life is good.
I've lived in Miami for the first 23 1/2 years of my life. Never saw any snow and considered 40 degree weather to be freezing. I now live in Indiana and realize that I should have been thankful for that wonderful weather. It's cold as balls.
