Ok so we deal thiggy for a second (hypothetical). What then do we do for a back up QB? If its resign Penny then ok we're in decent shape. If its sign some journeyman QB it would have to depend on who maybe we're ok maybe we're not. If the person we sign means that White is now our legitimate second string QB then god help us. No offense but I have zero faith in white at the moment, but things could change. If the plan is to draft another QB yet again then we are still in a semi bad situation because for all intensive purposes neither the rookie nor White are ready to lead this team and we have spent yet another draft pick on a QB. Anyway just all things to think about
The only way i would be happy trading thigpen for a 2nd rounder is if we traded for marshall in return which i know will never happen. We need a quailty backup not some 150 lbs midget who will never be a quality back up in this league.
IF Farve finally retires, Minny and our good buddy Rick will be looking fr a QB. A 2nd rounder is no problem but, I think we can get a #1. LOL
I feel ya as to wanting to have thigpen as a backup, he looked fast, agile, with a pretty good arm, of course we all would like to have the insurance policy, but when a player starts to ascend his game, other teams take notice, the ego of that said player starts to take form, and thats when you have to make that decision, it hurts, it does, but come draft day, you'll feel all better, thats the NFL ya know... As far as Penny vrs Thiggy..well, I dont believe thiggy is at his 2nd round value yet, so the plan must include getting him quality preseason action..we let the field decide the backup position, not the sentiment.. If he wins the backup battle against penny, his value goes up, if he plays well doing so, his value goes up.. It is a very tough situation to look at at this point, Penny and everything he brings to the table and to henne, or keeping a young up and comer for 1 more year, cause that's probably all your gonna have him for.
i think if penny comes back, and you can get more then you paid for thigpen, you have to seriously consider it.....
can always use White as the third backup picks for Thigpen makes sense @ this point White will stay regardless, he'll get another shot @ making the team playing WR/Slot, WildCat, ST's Pennington is a keeper!
Is that a Madden trade ?? There is no way he's worth that much or should I say, there is no way we'll ever get that much from him. I mean, that's the comp we got for Welker and for JT ?? I don't think so. However, I agree that we shouldn't let go of him for nothing. I still think that we'd be lucky to get a 4th for him even to a division rival. That trade would have to only be made if Penny really does return here. Since that article came out, he's also said he'd welcome a return to the jests...? So who really knows...but I doubt that Penny will be cheap whereas keeping Thiggy isn't such a burden financially...
Yeah, how's that pick working out ?? The scary thing is that Thigpen is a much better QB than White is now or will be, as it appears...The question is how long are they going to piddle around with White before they cut bait...
Mind if I ask what the score is gonna be tomorrow? We could all make some money of this crystal ball of yours.
I mean it's a silly argument cause Im sure we all agree Hennes the man regardless. All im saying is give White a chance. the picks already been made. No point in casting him off so soon.
Well if it was me and I could get anything back on white I would take it. I'm also not going to be the person bashing him every chance he gets. That's not my style. as long as he wears Aqua and orange I will root my heart out for him to succeed. The main reason he is in this conversation or at least why I had brought him into it at all was to point out he is not at this point in time ready to be a legitimate backup QB. Last game of the season Henne suffered a concussion. Blow to the head followed by blurry vision for a couple weeks with no real eye injury I can't think of what else it could have been. Either way if that's not the last game of the season he misses a couple weeks. We have to be honest here and ask ourselves are we comfortable with White as the backup. If the answer is no and it should be then we have to ask ourselves if we Trade Thiggy who are we then going to bring in as a backup.

I don't think we'll get that much from anyone, and I said it's more than he's worth. However, I'd have to get value close to that to trade a potential starting QB within the division, if I were Ireland. Now if some NFC team offered us a high 4th or a 3rd, I'd take that and be happy. Anything less than a high 4th is worth less to me than quality backup at the QB position.
Whatever we do with Thigpen, we better not trade him within the division unless a team wants to severely overpay.
Brother that's a huge Key to the question "do we trade him". We first would need to have a good idea who our second string QB is going to be. Right now I'm not 100% sure Penny will be ready at the beginning of the year and if he is will he be 80%, 90% or 100%? If we are going to go a different rout to replace Thiggy other than Penny that's where it gets dicey. I doubt we could replace him and have it not cost us anything unless we take some other teams castaway.
One more thought. If Penny returning means we get rid of Thigpen, then I'd rather Penny not return. If it is an either/or thing in the QB depth chart, my vote goes to Thigpen.
He got traded in favor of Matt Castoff, was a 7th round pick out of Coastal Carolina,no way we get a 2nd rounder out of him,if the Iggles traded Donavan McNabb they wouldnt get a 2nd rounder for him.
