I don't buy that he's under pressure. He has the support from the people who matter within the administration. The only shocking thing is I haven't seen the contract extention yet. Look for something 3-4 years coming soon, with a small buyout clause.

LOL that's Hurricane basketball. Dick Vitale said of the Hurricanes, "Potential get you fired." Eventually, if they're going to be a force in ACC basketball have to prove it in the win column.

What is the current record of consecutive NFL regular season weeks with at least one touchdown scored by a Cane?

The Hurricanes also hold a streak of 107 (Week 15-2002) consecutive regular season weeks where a former Miami Hurricane has scored a touchdown in an NFL game.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami_Hurricanes_in_the_NFL

I've looked for a link, but haven't found one to verify that stat from wikipedia.

I'm going to say he NEVER starts. Daryl Sharpton is a mediocre @ best MLB. If you can't start over Sharpton, I guarantee your not going to start over Shayon Green or Kevin Nelson (new recruit).

I believe he just doesn't fit with the Miami culture/team/whatever. The football stuff here just doesn't mesh with either his talents or his personality. I hesitate to say he can't grasp the system, being that the system on D isn't complex at all, but that's what it looks like to me. If he was on a Nick Saban team, no way he'd even play special teams.

Anything can happen between now and signing day but from the list of commits I have seen......

Watched a good deal of video and highlights this weekend…I prefer when looking a HS highlights to look at opponents highlight reels to evaluate those they are playing against…….like watching A Dan Marino highlight film to evaluate Bruce Smith for a simple example………..Overall this class is shaping up as a more meat and taters class than 09 and about the same level IMHO, and no where near the 08 class but few ever will be IMO…..there are a couple like last year that make be sort of scratch my head……

Darion Hall is one, he is a upright, one cut runner that does nothing extremely well but has good reported size speed ratio…but I personally did not see much from the little I saw……Storm Johnson is a good looking size speed guy on film but he also runs a bit upright but is definitely a more power runner than Hall and looks like he likes contact but again he is a kind of hit the hole, one cut runner……….the best of the 3 IMO is Eduardo Clement….I always hesitate to compare to somebody because people will assume you are talking about their production/talent rather than style….but style wise he reminds me a great deal of Emmitt Smith…very patient runner, slips and slides to holes, gets to the outside well, turn the corner with authority and has a second move and cuts well……overall the backs are not my favorites in this class, Hagans looks like a blocking FB only and this years backs are far far from Lamar Miller/Mike James but Clement may figure in down the line IMHO.

I am not real sure what they are seeing in Stephen Morris, mainly because at Pace it is not real tough to turn and hand the ball off, but his strength seems to be his accuracy and it was tough to get a read on his arm but he did at least look very athletic….cannot offer much other than he is tough to evaluate and get a read on from anyone. So trust Shannon and his connections on Morris.

The O Linemen are where this group is begins to get well…….the last 2 years there were some athletic linemen signed but this group while seemingly less athletic look like better football players…Bunche is a potential stud and good athlete, Linder, Feliciano and especially McDermott are pure football players. I am very impressed by McDermott in particular. He plays with strength at 265 or whatever, has great quick’s and hands like stone…he is going to start as soon as 265 becomes 280 IMHO…maybe as a redshirt Freshman….Talman, Glenn and Barton to me seem like developmental size athletic guys that might develop but with the additions of the last couple years and what I am hearing about Ben Jones then they can afford to take a couple of these guys…Henderson apparently had a fantastic visit so if were to somehow end up at the U…then this IMHO would be the foundation for some serious BCS games….

The D linemen are primarily inside guys with the exception of David Perry who looks a lot like Dye…great first step, natural pass rusher that will need to learn to play the run….inside D linemen from HS to college are crap shoots and anyone telling you there are any sure things is lying…so take a wait and see attitude and we will know in a couple years……………..

The LB’s are where this class will stand out IMO…..they all look alike on film but damn do Jimmy Gaines and Kevin Nelson jump up and bite you….both look like 4.5 type guys and good size for HS and BOTH arrive in a bad mood. Gaines is the better technique guy IMO but Nelson flows better and has better COD although Gaines is not too bad….the outside guys are not as good as those 2 IMHO but Cornelius will be the best guy long term IMO although Cain and Williams may play before him….as for Cornelius…think Sean Spence with better COD…and Cornelius may end up a safety or grow into an OLB but his frame does not look as large on film as Spence…but this kid loves to hit which is obvious and some DB speed………..Cain and Williams are not bad in themselves.

The Db’s look a lot alike also…Devonte Davis and Kacy Rogers are tall rangy CB’s and they both have noticeable short choppy strides, good range and they both look light. Rogers looks like the better of the two IMHO but only because he seems like he is more ball aware.

The Te’s and Wr’s did not look special and there is not much out there on Hurns and Ford…….although Jeremy Davis looks like he has a noticeable deep burst and does not mind mixing it up a bit despite being smaller than my left toe.

All is all a mixed bag but McDermott and Gaines/Nelson will play early. Cornelius, Bunche and Linder may end up as thoroughbreds, and I think even though WR is very deep J Davis will make a few plays over his career….it does seem obvious the staff is focusing on football players and guys with some aggression in their games…..but

That is just my 2 cents after a foot and a half of snow and nothing to do other than watch football on the net…………..lets see what happens signing day and who decoms and who surprises…hopefully Henderson as IMHO the best OL prospect in the last 4-5 years.

What a mediocre recruiting class... Randy Shannon has GOT to go. Did we even come close to landing a 5 star?

I know we lost out on almost every big time recruit that had us in their top 3. That tells you something.

Sharpton is the definition of average. He gets lost in space whenever space presents him the opportunity. I can't count how many assignments he blew last year that led to game changing plays by the opposition. He'll step up and make a big play or two every now and then, but overall, very happy to see his eligibility run its course. Anyways, I have nothing personal against the guy -- look forward to seeing him on Sundays, hopefully in the AFC East (but not with my Dolphins).

As for that bum Arthur Brown... I'm happy to see him go as well. Sick and tired of these underachievers. All American potential but lazy as hell. Ever since Randy Shannon cut his brother, it's like he gave up. I don't want that attitude on my football team.

    Back in Miami
If Miami cares about it's program this recruiting class should be the glaring nail in Randy Shannon's casket.

His coaching prowess has been questionable at best and all we heard about when Shannon was hired was how valuable he'd be to pull all of Miami's homegrown stars to stay home and play at the U.

Well, he's failed at that too.

    Shannon needs to go.
He's failed on every level at this point.

In a bit of defense of Shannon (whom I'm lukewarm on) I used to listen to Hurricanes Tonight on QAM and RS said basically if you subscribe to a scouting service they will overrate your incomring class, they would move from 2 stars to 4 once they signed with the Canes.

That is not verbatim but it is the essence of what he had to say.

Shannon has to tighten up his game as a Head Coach, seriously, read Bill Walsh or Bill Arnsparger's books or something..sheesh..

They are not letting everyone in for 1 thing. Another is production. Shannon got some great classes and they are not showing. This coming year will tell us alot. It also does not help that he is the 3rd best best recruiter in the State

I am Switzerland on Shannon but how many of these guys have most of the people chatting on Canesport or any other message board really watched...or how many HS games did they attend? True he did roll the dice on some very highly rated guys, but those were highly rated guys that could PLAY...they were longshots and he almost pulled a rabbit out of the hat....but generally he already had a solid foundation of recruits.

I do not know if he is a good coach, great coach or bad coach, we will probably have a good idea in two years cause Shalala ain't firing him. He took kids this year that are athletes with big upsides....HS Linemen especially D Linemen are notorious for being hit or miss and mostly miss quite frankly, athletes and skill position players get "stars" for anyone that really gives a crap about stars.

Shannon could have recruited and given in to kids like the emotional sevant Louis Nix, Bryce Brown and his circus last year or PJ and his idiot dad a couple years ago...will not happen, Shannon does not want the problems and is a disciplinarian and a hard ***. Would you really want UM to be Florida and have 30 some arrests in 4 years, or FSU with their issues, or Tennessee with their arrests and pains......UM has a bad rep they have to do it cleaner than other schools...and when they do win another NC...and it will happen it will be that much better.

Florida takes 10-12 exceptions every year, FSU about the same, Tennessee had 14 LAST YEAR!!!! and Kiffin will follow through with guaranteeing sanctions at SC. Shalala is not going to take that many exceptions and Miami being a private school will not take them. You have kids coming out of SoFla that are going to be problems GUARANTEEEEEED it is just a question of when, chatting with coaches .... they know who they are and RS has GREAT relations with SOFLA HS coaches despite what some want you to believe...the kids cannot get in or are basically more than immature they are problems.

You ever wonder why Shannon never made a move on a kid like Dunkley from Pahokee and tried to recruit Raheem Buxton of all people out of Pahokee/Belle Glade (who ended up being dumber than a box of rocks) or Lamb from schools that have fed him kids, or why no one from UM called Todd Chandler since November and this is a school that had the NW bonanza of two years ago? Put two and two together and guess whom I predict gets into some serious problems and is a cancer in college.

BTW RS is exactly right about the subscription service, Buckhalter is a UF guy, Rivals is run by a Notre Dame grad and the second in command is a UF grad, it is no coincidence that those schools ALWAYS have "great classes and lots of stars", although you have to give UF credit this year they pulled in some great athletes and deserve their recruiting ranking for those that care about that. Linemen again... WTF knows about them they bust so much.

Bottom line he may be a lousy coach, I do not know, but he got the kids he wanted for the most part, linemen were where he went primarily, linemen do not carry star power, and stars mean crap..............watch the kids, McDermott is a beast and Cornelius is going to be a fantastic Safety or a 5 star LB....but they may never have 5 stars next to their name just to name 2 that get no play.

    I don;t agree with that.

He wins one ACC championship and he becomes the #1 recruiter.

It is just the way it goes.

The "U" has a gravitational pull when they are winning and are not lazy in recruiting.

    Warren, Warren, Warren....:pity:

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Former NFL star Warren Sapp has been charged with domestic battery in South Florida, and the analyst will not be part of the NFL Network's Super Bowl coverage on Sunday.

Sapp was charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery and is expected to appear before a Miami-Dade County judge Sunday, Miami Beach police spokesman Juan Sanchez said.

The NFL Network spokesman Dennis Johnson released this statement: "We have been made aware of the arrest of Warren Sapp by the Miami Beach Police Department. In light of these circumstances, Warren Sapp will not appear on NFL Network while we review the matter."

The domestic violence allegation was reported around noon Saturday and detectives interviewed Sapp later that day, Sanchez said. The alleged physical altercation against a female acquaintance took place at 6 a.m. ET Saturday at the Shore Club Hotel, where Sapp was staying, ESPN's Kelly Naqi reported, according to a source.

The victim had a swollen knee and bruises on her neck, according to an arrest affidavit. She told detectives that she was partying with Sapp and her friends at the hotel and asked for his room key when she grew tired. Sapp reportedly woke up the victim a few hours later and they started to argue. She told investigators that Sapp started to choke her and pushed her down on a couch.
