You never know. I saw both Brady and Fitzpatrick comment that they were upset Rivers got a call to come play instead of them. Heck, Matt Ryan did as well now that I think about it. Not that we'd want a recent retiree, but the potential QB pool could be bigger than you'd think. We'll find someone to start.

But here's the thing- we've had an offense that didn't focus on Tua for about 5 weeks now. Your stats on Achane are prior to that, in the prior pass-heavy offense where the run blocking was sub-par.

Before it was Tua getting Achane good looks; now it's the exact opposite. McDaniel absolutely proved he could win without Tua, even though Tua was on the field for that four-game win streak. Two completely different offenses due to the line getting healthy and figuring some things out.

I would guess the plan all along was that once we lost again, Tua was going to be benched. He has regressed so badly over this season that even casual fans have noticed.

Does anyone really think teams are scared of Tua?His arm is gone.Mcdaniel knew this and switched his scheme from passing to running.
    Sometimes using 6 offensive lineman.

    Lazy boy Tua deserved this

he’s done wearing flip flops to work

he’s never gonna take another snap again for us

the culmination of poor work ethic and laziness is what we witnessed this year

    He gone, see ya

When you have to "hide" your quarterback and game plan around hiding him, AND he's making 50+ million, it's time to end things. I, for one, was mostly annoyed with how he's conducted himself this entire season. Throwing teammates under the bus, his crappy leadership, just all of it. We're getting our asses kicked in a game, and he's laughing and joking on the sidelines. We lose, we get eliminated from the postseason yet again, and he's joking around and yucking it up with Jalen Ramsey after the game. I've had enough of the mouth-kissing of opposing players. You never saw Dan Marino do that. Tom Brady never did that. Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, they don't do that. Losing is really not an acceptable trait in their DNA, and it shouldn't be with a guy that's supposed to be leading your team...You're a supposed franchise player. It's completely unacceptable that he's behaved that way. Give him his money and send him down the road.

Now...As far as Ewers go...I don't think he's it. He might be a backup in this league, but this dude is not saving us. It's definitely time to move on from Tua, but we better be looking elsewhere this offseason. Nothing wrong with giving these three games to Quinn, but He's not it either.

Even with Achane running wild, it still didn’t open up the passing game for him. That’s crazy. It could have if he could throw the damn ball.

    Caveat:

We win because Ewers starts showing serious potential where QB isn't like an immediate must fill need anymore, then I'm ok with wins.

Don't you want to see the offense explode without the guy that was holding McDaniel's offense back? Ewers gives the Dolphins the best chance to win according to him. I'm fully expecting a win.

Of course, try to win. Losing will not move us up in the draft. We're not catching the Jest, Bengals, Browns, Titans, Raiders, Cardinals, Giants, Saints and Washington, those guys are really bad. Nothing to be gained by losing so might as well try to win and see if Ewers has got anything.

We're pretty much locked into 10. It would be very tough to move up or down.

There's a hint of sarcasm here and I totally get it. We've been *** with Tua, We've been hot garbage *** without him. Anybody who expects Ewers to come in and light it up against the Bengals on Sunday is borderline delusional. It'd be amazing if he did do that, but I think the offense is going to look like one being run by a rookie taken in the 7th round. That being said there is undeniable intrigue with Ewers. He was the consensus number one quarterback coming out of high school. Many viewed him as a can't miss prospect. He had some injuries at Texas, he was punked and benched in what was supposed to be a legacy game for him in college, he has limited mobility, and he's not the most accurate. The intrigue is that he has a good arm, he's playing with some motivation, and he's hungry. These are all traits that Tua lacks. I definitely do not think Ewers is the answer, but he's worth a look. He's got a great opportunity ahead of him, this is his one shot and that's what makes this all very interesting. Do I expect a win? No...I think Burrow is going to carve us up. Maybe Ewers shows us something in the midst of all that. We've got nothing to lose at this point, and we need to see what this kid can do before we move towards resolving this Tua situation.
I think the better question is do we let Tua come back as the starter next season or has he played his last down in Miami. We can't afford to get this wrong again. To me, benching him now signals that we are in fact done with him, but it's the Miami Dolphins. I could easily see us doing some stupid $hit where we let him come back as the starter next season. To me this should be the final nail in the coffin for him in Miami.
