    ABOUT

SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) is a scientific area whose goal is to detect intelligent life outside Earth. One approach, known as radio SETI, uses radio telescopes to listen for narrow-bandwidth radio signals from space. Such signals are not known to occur naturally, so a detection would provide evidence of extraterrestrial technology.

We used to do Folding@Home years ago at the old site. It was 'state-sponsored' if you will.

From listening to the folks from SETI talk, they sound more like debunkers than actual folks who have an open mind about what they may find. Anyone else get that feeling?

Various Discovery channel, History channel and radio shows. There really isn't one that I could point to because there have been so many over the years that kind of blended together in my head, but you may be able to find something on Youtube or Google. I just got the feeling that they have a predetermined outcome in their collective head and aren't willing to consider other possibilities.

Did that for a while but I believe that this is more worthwhile. In my opinion, finding a planet whose inhabitants are capable of sending radio waves, perhaps several light years away, while a cool thing to find, is less beneficial to those of us and our family members who will not be alive in the time it would take to communicate with and investigate that planet. I think it is more important to predict mechanics of protein folding because misfolded proteins are responsible for many diseases.
