It's a challenge to find anywhere to discuss sports amicably and without fear of insult/trolling. I've lurked these forums for a bit, and generally there seems to be a decent atmosphere here. That being said, I decided to jump in and add my own two cents as I see fit. Been a Dolphins fan since I was a fan of the NFL in general, around 1992. Like many a Fin fan, it was #13 who drew me in. Been a proud, die-hard fan ever since, going on 20 years now. I reside in New Jersey, am 27 years of age, and write from home for a "living". Looking forward to the conversation and maybe a new friend or two along the way. Glad to be here.
Haha. There are, believe it or not, some excellent areas in the state. Flemington, for instance, where I'm currently living, is quite nice. But you can't mention being a NJ native without some static, so no worries.
Welcome brother. Good to see another Phin fan from the tri-state area. Youre also not the only writer here... http://www.thephins.com/forums/showthread.php?66976-FINALLY!-My-first-book-signing
Still got a ways to go before I'm doing book signings, but that's respectable nonetheless. I mostly dabble in critical writing, music/movie and various product reviews across the internet. It helps pay the bills, pads my portfolio and keeps my writing muscles active as I make feeble attempts at piecing together a novel and collection of short stories. It's always amusing to me, the looks of utter disgust I get while wearing one of my Dolphins jerseys around Northern New Jersey. The abundance of Jets fans is like a blight in these parts.
I understand. I grew up 10 minutes from where the NYJ practice facility used to be located on the campus of Hofstra University. I worked at the day camp at Hofstra a couple of summers as a teen and used to taunt the Jets fans and players there. Still, being around so many Jet fans is kind of like being stuck in hell if I knew what hell were like..though the year Cam Cameron was here was about as close as I can imagine
