When in charge, take charge. A TRUE leader will do whatever is needed to make his team, be it an NFL team, an NCO in the military or a civilian in charge of a team of personnel successful. I understand what you are saying, that hiring Wade Phillips as DC could be a threat to Gase’s job but I would argue this...if hiring Phillips or any other experienced DC results in the team winning and having a successful season, then Gase’s job would be safe.
