The Dodgers acquired Victorino from the Phillies today for starting pitching prospect Ethan Martin and reliever Josh Lindblom, according to Yahoo's Tim Brown (Twitter link).
Are the dodgers going to trade their entire farm system this year? Sounds like Dempster is close to going there as well
Especially, when you add "runs saved" for his D, who do you think is better in AL or NL? Your lips to the baseball Gods ears! Yes!
Even with Texs D, did we forget Pujols plays 1st? I mean, he has a pretty damn good glove over there as well. And If you want to bring up NL...Votto? Both those players are much better then Tex. Pence to Giants...thats a surprising move.
The Giants bolstered their lineup today, acquiring right fielder Hunter Pence from the Phillies and countering the Dodgers' aggressive moves, tweets SI's Jon Heyman. No word on compensation to PHI just yet.
No, Tex is the better 1B! Pujols glove is no where near Tex.....for AL. I am not talking popularity, I am taking Bowa at his choice of words and saying 1B (not hitter only). Votto, I do love....and thats interesting discussion for sure.
Btw, I dislike that deal for Dodgers getting Victorino. I just think they gave up to much. Do they play on opening the bank for him in the off season?
You know who is right there in the convo in the AL but never gets any mention..... Konerko......steadily as they come .290-.300/30/100 every year.....plays good defense..
Well if that's the case. Tex is definitely up there. But Larry was talking about hitting when he said that. So it would be a weird placement if that were the case. I guess you could be right though. Konerko has a really good bat. But I wouldn't call his defense good. He's not in that group. But he's really good.
If I hear someone say best 3B, best SS, best RF or so on I think overall player. If you want to say fielder you say "Tex has the best glove at 1B in the AL" or "Tex is the best fielding 1B in the AL"
The deal has been officially announced by both teams, and the Phillies also received a player to be named later or cash considerations.
When have we heard this before: Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM reports that the Dodgers are getting Ryan Dempster from the Cubs. It's not a done deal quite yet, as the two sides are working on the finishing touches, but an agreement is expected before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline. It's not clear who the Cubs will get in return.
final compensation... The Giants bolstered their lineup Tuesday by acquiring outfielder Hunter Pence from the Phillies. In exchange for the 29-year-old outfielder, the Phillies will receive outfielder Nate Schierholtz, minor-league catcher Tommy Joseph and minor-league pitcher Seth Rosin.
The Reds added bullpen insurance to the NL's best bullpen today, acquiring Jonathan Broxton from the Royals, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link). No confirmation what KC is getting in return.
The Yankees should offer nothing by way of prospects if this is the case.....let the Cubs offer arbitration after the season...
Twoooooooooooooooooooooo minutes............................DOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Minutos......
I dont know about this one.....really was hoping for Dodgers....yeesh! The Rangers acquired Ryan Dempster from the Cubs, tweets ESPN's Buster Olney. The Rangers are sending two minor league players; third baseman Christian Villanueva and minor league right-hander Kyle Hendricks to the Cubs, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports which made it in just under the trade deadline buzzer, and the 35-year-old approved the deal.
It is literally ANYBODYS Pennant in the NL.....I would put money down on both Wash and Pitt.... ouch, Ryan with those deep pockets...good to see Texas can afford players on their own now...
