I'll give you some insight into what Riley is thinking.

His vision is of top rebounding at the 3,4, and 5. Scoring from the 2 and 3 or 2, and 5.

He is convinced that Amare and Bosh can both play Center, and that is why keeping Beasley was not a problem for him when asked.

But the elephant remains...Toronto is not stupid. They will force the issue. Phoenix WILL NOT.

Expect Dorell Wright to be traded to Grizzlies for a 1st. Arison wants to get under the cap.

Probably worth it for a 1st. Not a bad move, though you hate to trade a guy who's starting to contribute after five years of effort getting his head on right and his game going.

From what Ive been told, the team's happy with him, but Arison wants to get the team more financially stable for next year. Plus that extra 1st will most likely be used as part of a future trade package.

he goes off the books at the end of the season.

That move actually hurts us for next season.

We need guys we can retain without worrying about the cap.

His roster spot is worth keeping, with him in it.

Part of what we are going to do in the offseason will assure us of having to fill the bottom of the roster and a couple of rotation players with bargain basement salaries.

Dorrell Wright fits that bill perfectly.

Ask Keith Askins then. My info came from a good source. Not that I disagree, I think it makes more sense keeping him. Me thinks Rileys got something up his sleeve if this goes down.

    I agree.

He is better to keep if we are playing the money cap game in 2010.

During the season, I hardly ever see Askins.

Dwyane Wade will not allow Dorell Wright to be traded unless it absolutely positively improves the team. A first round draft choice that will most likely be traded away for future draft picks does not equate to that. That would be interesting, though. Provided Toronto makes the playoffs, and they will, that means 3 first round picks. All in the middle of the first, as it's Memphis who would be the likely destination for my Tweeple Mr. Dorell.

I do know that we're going all out in hopes to move James Jones; we're even offering draft picks in a package for pretty much nothing to try and get him off the books. That solves two problems - the tax this year, and frees up more loot next year because I highly doubt he opts out unless he really supports his home town -- even more so than his own career and bank account.

Micky needs to chill, though. Pay the tax. Who cares? We're going to win a title or two very shortly. Maybe more. Plus, no longer is Dorell here to keep Wade happy. He's actually contributing now. And he's still young.

How did we lose to Charlotte by 40?

TWO double digit scorers; Wade and DORELL. BTW they're ahead of us now. Pathetic.

Heat at the mid point is 2 games (extrapolated) behind a 46 win season. 1/2 a game behind their pace of last year.

In other words, they need to gain at least 2 un-expected wins and still beat the teams they are favored against to win 46.

They need to find a winnign streak SOMEWHERE.

I think it is gonna have to be a March Push.

If they can get out of this month and next, 2 or 3 games over .500, they will get the 5th seed. I guarantee it. March and April are friendly schedule wise.

Our struggles in B2B games CONTINUE.

What a ****ing bum like performance by Wade! 30 points in the first half... 2 in the second with 7 missed free throws in a row? JESUS CHRIST! The Michael Beasley syndrome (great first half, non existant second half) is spreading, folks.

I'd trade Wade for LeBron or Kobe any day. I don't even know why he's included with the two in best player discussions. He's clearly #3. Clearly. He couldn't walk a mile in LeBrons shoes. God I want that Guy! Get it ****ing done Riley.

Dude, I'm bashing Wade as an individual performer tonight. He stunk this game to hell. How do you score 2 points in the second half, miss SEVEN STRAIGHT FREE THROWS, turn the ball over up one with 8 seconds to go, then miss the game winning shot? I could see if you simply got shut down in the second half, sucked at the line, turned it over in a crucial situation, OR missed the game winner, but come on. All combined? I will never get on a superstar for missing a clutch shot -- it's apart of the game. You take so many you're going to miss more than you make, honestly. Jordan did. Kobe does. But when you put all of that together it's a disaster. Of course if you didn't watch the game and merely glanced the stat sheet it's a different discussion, though.

And I am actually bi-polar BTW. Never been examined or whatever, but I am DEFINITELY bi-polar! Mom, girlfriend, family, friends, etc. would all agree, so I can't argue that shot. Only my father would argue you against it, because I get it from him. :wink2:

****ing Jamaican males... we're all bi-polar.

Also, I don't want to bring up a touchy subject on here, but JEEZ!!!! Wade is being trapped on every possession for the final 8 minutes and MICHAEL BEASLEY DOES NOT SEE THE FLOOR. Does he give up a ton defensively? Sure, but how are we going to win close games if we can't score points? Sick to my stomach that Beasley was kept out of that fourth quarter, although I expected it, because he always is. He actually came on pretty strong in the third quarter and was the sole reason LeBronze and co. didn't take over that game.

LeBRONZE MEDAL JAMES TWENNY-TEN *****. That or bust. I am convinced. This guy wins 6 or 7 titles on the right team.

    Its a ****ing joke...

Wade is getting trapped 35 feet out... and we have our 2nd best player on the bench. Beas was playing aggressive defense, was aggressive on the boards... and got hot on the offensive end...

    AND WE YANK HIM?!?

Then, our offense starts to really struggle, and Spolstra just stands there looking confused? **** Spolstra, I'm done with this bum...

4 seconds left... we're down by 1... and our 2nd best scorer is on the bench. I'm done with this coach. Playing some aged vets on expiring contracts instead of your young talented up and coming player, who happens to also be the 2nd best player on your roster.

I was all in favor of the Beasley treatment last year. I think it was good for him. But what good is coming from it this year? When the kid is hustling on defense and getting better on the boards?

    Well...this one was on Wade.

he flat out LOST this game.

But on the Beasley stuff, I understood why he came out with 7 minutes to go, especially against a trap. Beasley plays well against a zone, and against a matchup M2M. When a team traps, it forces you to rotate the ball and hit open shots. Beas is best when the offense is setup for him.

Spo wanted to have his best open shooters on the floor. The fact is that Haslem is a better open shooter, and you couldn;t take out JO because of the Cavs length.

    But yeah, rough game.

It was and IS obvious to me that Beasley is a chip that will be traded for a PG this offseason. It is a LOCK IMO.

Expect a strong push for Deron Williams or much more likely, a Devin Harris.

Why? Why cant we just use him? Why do we refuse to use him the way he is best suited?

Why is it so hard to really feature him in this offense and on this team? How does this team not need a guy that can get you 20 and 10?

Wow I didn't realize Miami fans were so sure Lebron was coming this way. Same as New York fans and Cleveland fans. Everyone seems to be positive with his intentions.

Going to be an interesting off season. I think if the Cavs make a deal for a young player Bron stays here in Cleveland. He and Wade would be unstoppable but I don't know that Bron wants his legacy to be that he wasn't the 100% superstar on his team.

But the allure of Miami and the ease of winning 4-5 rings might make up his mind for him.

I just hope my Cavs can win it this year. We've gone 60+ years without a championship in any sport. Can't we have just one? Please? If he is going to leave can't we at least have one?

Because Beasley's game and Wade's game are like Oil and Water.

They do not compliment each other.

Beasley is better in a structured offense. In an offense that runs alot on ISO's with a superstar, he does not settle into a spot up role. He is also a HORRIBLE P&R player.

What people are missing is that everybody thinks that Beasley is not in at the end of games because of his defense....just the opposite. he is not in at the end of games because the offense doesn't operate well with him When Wade is running ISO after ISO.

Watch Tony Parker and Tim Duncan. I thought that they could play like those two. I was wrong. Beasley is a bad fit with Wade.

Well, we are not sure. it is just that we are definately going to offer him a max contract. it is a LOCK. So he will either turn us down, or sign on. I can;t see a superstar of his stature coming here to share the spotlight. I have said so for a while.

    BUT..the OFFER WILL BE MADE.

Okay...here is a critique on SPO.

I would like to see a return of the Riley Double post offense, with JO and Beas. We have the shooters to play on that offense. (maybe)

give that a try and see if it works.

Couple of questions, as I am not some bball expert.

    1. What makes Beasley a horrible P&R player. Is that not something that could easily be improved? Does he not set good picks? I know he can shoot the mid-range jumper that Haslem hits on the P&R. So what does he need to improve to become a better P&R type player?

    2. Why do we run ISO after ISO with Wade? That sounds like something you do out of necessity b/c you dont have anyone else. Is that the only offense Wade can be successful in? I cant believe so. So why not use an offense that can fit both Wade and Beasley? Why not run a more structured offense? I mean, if we get LeBron or any other super star, are we not going to change our offense from Wade running ISO after ISO? I have to believe we would. So why wouldnt we change it for the #2 overall pick who is extremely gifted on the offensive end?

Isnt that on the coaches to adjust the scheme to best fit the players they have?

Maybe, but consistent is fair and I like to keep it consistent. If I go over the top with Spo for blowing a game, I will do the same with Wade. This was MORE BLATANT, though... I have never seen a thrown game in this capacity in all my years as a Heat fan (EDIT: OOPS! Forgot Jamal Mashburne played here). I am still in shock. It's like what Skip Bayless said:

@RealSkipBayless: DWade (1 for 8 2nd half, 2 huge missed fts) basically waiting till next yr. because Pat Riley is. LBJ knew he'd lost heart, took advantage.

This is the sense I get from D-Wade's game half the time this season. His heart is not into it, and that is more concerning than a little rust or a shooting slump to me. Will he be fine once he gets the a co-star or two? Sure, but it shouldn't be excused it in the meantime. Kobe Bryant would never.

This is said by the entire fan base and media after every close loss and nothing is learned from it, unfortunately.

This is the sad truth but don't be surprised if that trade happens within the next week or two. And yes, I'm hinting at Amare Stoudemire without a single hinted source in the world. It's just a gut feeling of mine. I don't THINK it will happen, but I think there's a much better chance than the deadline talks last season involving pretty much the same players. Phoenix is desperate to move him knowing he won't re-sign; hopefully they get horrible offers and we can snatch him up for a JON package. Likewise, if we land Amare, it's going to take Beasley but will also free us of James Jones.

I am not for it nor against it, FYI. Mixed feelings. DO NOT CARE. Bring me LeBron, Bosh OR Amare + Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay. Anything else is epic failure.

Sign-and-trade chip if he lasts the season, IMO. It'll be for the third option -- Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay. If not, then I can see a push for Devin Harris, Caron Butler, or something close to that. I don't know if we need a top notch point guard, though, especially if we land a big. I think a three is more appropriate as the third wheel.

Only one man can answer this question and I'm sure he'll keep dodging it if asked. One thing I do understand, though, is the defensive issue. Watching Beasley get pushed out of the way by mediocre at best players is discouraging. How often was he simply out of position last night? Still, when there's a scoring drought like what we saw he HAS to be in the game.

Definitely not. I'd call it a 25/75 shot. 40/60 for Bosh. Amare more probable.

But that 25 can EASILY shoot up above any other team's odds (including Cleveland's) with a sit down with Pat Riley and Dwyane Wade... AS A FREE MAN for the first time in his career. I mean, because we all know he's already had those sit downs. :wink2:

You can also say the same for Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and almost any other big name player with the option to stay or go. Problem is, the odds are against Cleveland being able to do so. Unless you can land Amare, and I don't see anything on your roster that would entice Phoenix, then I don't see it.

I saw this from day one but was afraid to admit it. I think I still am. Oops, just did.

No way Wade lost heart last night. Not vs. Bron. No way no how. Wade gives his all against Bron every time.

Wade made a pass that he shouldnt have. He did that same behind the back pass to Haslem on the double team earlier in the game. This time, it failed... and thats a bad decision.

    Wade blew it, no doubt.

The thing about DWade is...he went to the Mtn Top as a young player, that is his view, the Wade Heat should be contending for titles every year.

It must be hard for Wade to look at the Lakers contend year after year with no blather about Salary Cap issues, look at their roster, their key guys are all acquired via trade.

And this will be yr #2 were they really don't have a shot at the NBA championship game, that wears on a player.

One thing is for certain at least to me: LeBron James would be THE GUY if he signs here. This will be his city and state. I don't even care if Dan Marino comes back and plays for the Dolphins in 2010. Hell, the Dolphins could trade for Peyton Manning and Chris Johnson. Michael Jordan could come back to play 2-guard with Wade at the one. LeBron's got the golden key where ever he goes. Period.

That's the only argument I don't get. He's not coming here to play second fiddle. He's not coming here to share the spotlight. Wade is stepping back a bit. Not exactly Scottie Pippen, but he's stepping back. I think if LeBron is willing, then that's what you have to force on Wade whether he goes with it or not. Good thing is... I don't see the ego issue with Wade as much as I'd see it with LeBron. Wade just wants to win. LeBron wants to win, but he also wants to be the greatest and richest athlete of all time and he's stated that in interviews before. LeBron can't accomplish his feat playing the secondary or even co-star next to Wade, but Wade can accomplish his.

I'd take that trade off, although it'd be impossible as LeBron wouldn't agree to a deal without a Wade guarantee in place.
