Najeh Davenport's trial for domestic violence began Friday. Davenport faces child endangerment and unlawful restraint charges. The Steelers dropped Cedrick Wilson after a similar charge this offseason, so Davenport could be at risk of losing his job or a suspension if he loses the case. UPDATE A woman who accused Najeh Davenport of domestic violence testified against him in court on Monday. The woman says Davenport abused her often, including slapping, choking, and punching her in the stomach on October 4. He's also charged with child endangerment. Davenport is not only at risk of punishment from the NFL, the Steelers may consider releasing him, especially if he's convicted. http://rotoworld.com/content/home_NFL.aspx?rwr=1
These players that are/were from the U aren't helping their image nor their universities. Another dummy who makes a dumb mistake. Why abuse a girl? A kid? Anyone? They should know that every little thing they do will end up on the front page wherever they are located. Common sense guys.... I know they have some.
update Najeh Davenport was acquitted on three misdemeanor charges, including domestic violence, by a jury in Cleveland on Wednesday. He still won't be guaranteed a roster spot in Pittsburgh, but this is certainly a big load off Dookie's shoulders. The other charges were unlawful restraint and child endangerment. The case may still be reviewed by the NFL. Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette http://rotoworld.com/content/home_NFL.aspx
