Big difference. Harvin is a wide receiver. He would have made an immediate impact in a weak area on the team. Spiller is a running back. This is the strongest position on the team with Ronnie, Ricky, and Lexy. It will be a lot tougher for Spiller to get on the field than it would have been for Harvin, unless you plan on converting Spiller to the wide receiver position. If Miami used the 12th pick on Spiller, this will be the second time in the past four drafts that Miami has used a top level pick on a part time player.

Let us not forget Cobbs  I agree. with the amount of holes we need to fill I dont think we can afford another Luxury pick.

Yep, at #12 the draft is not that hard to play out.

And more to the point, I could see us trading back and out of #12, the Eagles need passrushing help..badly..we have so many needs it would make some sense to do it.

We could trade back, pick up a #3 and #5, and still pick a Brandon Graham in the mid 20's and have Graham on the Strongside and Wake on the Weakside.

Parcells had tons of success with Joe Morris 5'7" 190lbs. I'm not sure Spiller doesnt remind him of him a bit but more explosive

Downside is, Tuna does not take Rb early in drafts, his philosophy is they are to fragile to invest a high pick into.

Outside of Earl Thomas, if McClain is off the board I'm not 100% that the guys we would expect to be there are that much better than players in early Rd2.

Head to head, Derrick Morgan v Jason Worilds, is the difference that huge?

    :dunno:

Ii think drafting Spiller would be a commentary on what Parcells thinks of Brown orr Cobbs. I think he'll find Ricky's replacement later in the draft (if not he's happy with Hilliard). If however he goes with a RB early then he's lost faith in Ronnie or Cobbs. I agree that we could find ourselves looking at the best of the third tier of players which is two rounds deep due to all the juniors coming out. I dont think it will because someone always slips but it could happen. I see the first tier as potential hall of famers (Suh, Berry, McCoy) 1-4/ 2nd tier is pro bowlers (McClain, Bryant, Spiller) 5- 10/ third tier is just old fashioned good players 11 through the entire 2nd round

I'm just sitting here in shock that Dolphin fans are interested in Spiller
Why would we take him at 12
A running back in the first round
Some will sacrifice need just to reach for a potential play maker
That would be a bad pick... on so many levels

I agree. It would be equivalent of drafting Pat White last year. I will enjoy seeing Jeff Ireland get replaced if he takes CJ Spiller in this draft.

I dont see it happening unless our first choices are gone. always a possibility. he would probably be 4th or 5th on our list

That depth is why I think we may trade back.

And yes I know, trade back rumors are a dime o' dozen this time of year, but it makes sense.

And with all the Jr's, we could end up with our Slade/McGinnest OLB duo, the fastest the Tuna has ever had his two playmaking OLB's.

Considering they're both coming off season ending injuries, I can understand 100% if he lost faith. I never had any faith in Cobbs anyways, I thought they should have kept Parmele instead. IMO he's at best just a change of pace guy and I'm not sure he makes the team this year.
