What does everyone think of charlie anderson as our starter at weak side lbs next year?I remember him starting a game when porter got suspened last year and he played well.I think it was the first bills game and he had 2 sacks.I do not remember how fared in the run game though. What do you think of him?

He is good depth, but if Wake isn't going to start they need more than that. Maybe he is the nickel and dime DE if they drop both Porter and Taylor.

got the OLB's covered w/ Wake, Anderson, Moses & whoever sticks: Porter or JT
I think we re-sign JT to a decent contract & trade Porter.

ILB, NT & possibly FreeSafety are our problems on defense

I know he got some time at ILB in practice, I wonder how he would fare in a game at that position.

well IMO, Charlie Anderson at this point in their careers is better than Joey Porter and it always kinda bothered me that he didn't see more snaps. Even in 08 when Porter had that great season, I still think Anderson should've seen more snaps. He made some big plays when on the field that year.

That being said, I wouldn't want him as an every down WLB

I actually wouldn't mind seeing him and Wake split snaps at the position next season.

Anderson is a solid backup, if he is starting long term for us next year we are going to be in trouble again.

I was hoping he would be the answer because we sure have alot of holes to fill to contend next year.I was hoping that wake was going to be the answer but he seems to be just a 3rd down rusher(though a good one).
I hope the cba gets signed so we can address some of our other needs in free agency like dansby at ilbs and then we can draft byrant,or even spiller who is a big play waiting to happen.

You need to raise your standards. We only had 4 of 11 positions that played solid on defense. Starks, Langford, Taylor, and Porter. Everyone else sucked. And Porter and Taylor are old. We need more OLBs, DTs, ILBs, FS, SS, and our corners need to grow up fast!

IMHO I think LB and NT are critical positions of need for the Dolphin's future. We need a playmaking LB whos play can inspire and fire up the rest of the defense. An ideal LB can make plays all over the field and is not just a pass rushing specialist.
We need a NT who can be dominating in the middle of the 3-4 and who can lock up the postion for years to come. Ferguson is gone, or soon will be gone and with the lack of a suitable replacment the 3-4 becomes a weakness rather than a strength.

    Friend Gish:
legitmate opinion & you may be right, I just happen not to agree with you
we are set @ OLB, our needs on defense are NT, ILB & possibly a FreeSafety
    having said that
I know only too well, I know nothing & the FrontOffice will work their BluePrint
come draft time there will be some surprises & even in free-agency (@ NT not WR)

    charlie anderson....

you guys kidding? he is a good special teams player but thats it
can we get some real linebackers on this football team
the group we have now is either too old or bottom of the barrel
the only one who has a chinamens chance in hell at being good is wake
and he cant even play the linebacker position yet

I agree i was more hoping than anything that charlie anderson would be the answer.I think all four lbs needed to be upgraded and like you i think nose tackle plus frre safety are a problem. We also do need a #1 wr and i am all for placing brown on the block to see what kinda of offers we get.He is a good player but injury prone.
How are we going to fill all of these holes in one offseason?

Porter shouldn't be on that list. He's not very good.

Get the best player available to play that position. Even if its not a priority....you may still be able to find an upgrade, and if you can do so, upgrade. I dont think we are sunk if Charlie is one of our OLB's...if he is starting. Certainly adds good depth. But we should always look to upgrade....

Really not a bad player. Porter is easily replaceable. We're in need of perhaps one OLB and if Merling converts to SOLB at a lighter weight we barely even need one more prospect. We're in terrible shape at ILB. TERRIBLE.

Langford, Merling, Ferguson, Soliai, Starks, Will Allen, and Taylor were the solid performers last year.

Porter weighed us down and often caused the safeties to move up to stop the run, causing a pass coverage inadequacy. His pass rushing was piss poor.

We had the guy on the team and we cut him for whatever reason without any compensation.

I don't know, but by putting brown on the block you've just created another hole to fill. Who's going to run the ball? Ricky? No way he lasts a full season as a fulltime back. Cobbs? Hilliard? Sheets? Sure, maybe if you combine all three somehow together into one person to create one big super back. However, I don't see that happening.

Trading a guy away isnt going to help. It just trades one hole on the roster for another.

As for Anderson, Sorry, I don't see him being starting material. He's a backup, a good one. Thats about it.

What good is brown when he always has a season ending injury. He has played 1 full season in his career and he is not getting any younger.
If maclain or bryant are not on the board i would either trade down or draft cj spiller who is probally be the best player left on the board and this team needs a playmaker on either side of the ball.

Dam, finally someone dared say it. Charlie Anderson is who I project to be the starting WOLB with Cameron Wake being the 3rd down WOLB. MIA will first look to fill the SOLB hole created by Roth's release.

Also, no way we draft another WildCat player at #12. CJ Spiller would basically be the Wildcat RB that Ricky currently mans. Pat White can fill that, and Ireland already implied that they are not looking for a WC guy, but a more traditional draft.

Ronnie Brown was the back that led us to the #1 rushing team in the league early in the year, remember? He aint going anywhere.

If we sign Dansby, I think that SOLB will be the target at #12, if we sign Banta-Cain, Weatherspoon will be our target at #12. LB will be our 1st round pick, I can go to the bank on that one...

We already have 2 cj spiller's on the roster already....Ginn Jr and Pat White. Ronnie Brown is the starter and Ricky is the backup. Hilliard and Sheets will probably both be kept, sorry Cobbs. We are taking Weatherspoon, I called it.

Not sure i understand the love affair with brown, come playoff time he will be on the sideline again.I would love to sign dansby but the front office will probally settle for some injury prone guy like they did last year with grove instead of paying the big money the guy will be seeking.
As for spiller he reminds me of chris johnson he has sick moves and can cut on a dime not to mention 4.3 speed.
