Nothing earth shattering. He said he regrets his mistake, that Deion is his mentor and he didn't realize he was doing anything wrong. Loves to compete, enjoys being around kids, and will do anything the team wants him to. They asked him who he patterns his game after in the league, he said Larry Fitz because he has an eye for the ball and aggressively goes after it, and Anq Boldin for his RAC ability. Sounds like a good combo to me. He sounds like a humble kid.
Man, I would LOVE that kid in Miami, but I don't think he makes it past Cleveland, and that's if Seattle doesn't take him first. - I have a funny feeling this kid is gonna come out and really impress at the combine, and go on to have a very very succesful NFL career.
There's only 2 players I want in Miami more than Bryant that I think have even a small chance of getting to #12 (Berry and Derrick Morgan). If Berry is there at 12 and we don't take him I will no doubt be disappointed, so hopefully it is another player I like (Thomas, McClain, Graham, etc) to ease the pain.
Berry? I think we have as good a chance to pick Suh as we do Berry. Don't think Morgan would help us very much personally. The rest you nailed pretty much exactly how I feel.
Heard Mayock tell Joe Rose ( who loves him ) that much like Joe who was at Denny's and said he had 4 Grand Slams already , Bryant has put on 10 pounds of fat. While 10 pounds isn't truly significant , he said it was troubling as he hasn't had anything else to focus on but get ready for being evaluated. Maybe overblown .... still. Rose salivates when he talks of the possibility of adding Dez Bryant for what it's worth.
I think a couple choices who people NOW think are top 10's will drop because (wrongfully in my mind) teams fall in love with a combine number and forget what the player actually did on the field. This will only benefit us at the 12 spot. We should have a couple very good options.
personally, the only other guy that I would take there is Earl Thomas. Berry is not going to fall to us. McClain... ahh I am luke warm on.
I hope he really impresses in the combine interviews, and we're willing to set aside the Eugene Parker factor if he falls to us.
Wet is good , sure you have posted them before but mind doing so again here? pretty please Miami also has to feel they have enough premium grades to feel strongly one or more will be there at 12 , imo. This is a good thing ... My feelings on this , with this draft , how it shapes up , how Miamis needs are , we can't be ok with getting an ok player. This is an opportunity to get an impact player that will do just that , make a much needed impact. You can't miss with picks this high , and certainly Miami has done so more than not recently, but it is time to not "not miss" but to clearly knock one out of the park. Or as you may prefer , to score a Bergkamp goal , not a cheapie
Thinking about it, it's probably nine who I think can't miss. Ndamukong Suh is a given, as is Gerald McCoy. Eric Berry is a third. Dez Bryant is 4. Earl Thomas, Rolando McClain, Sean Weatherspoon, Golden Tate and Jason Worilds round out my top 9. CJ Spiller, Charles Brown, Derrick Morgan, Brandon Graham, Jimmy Clausen, Jerry Hughes, Jared Odrick, Morgan Burnett, Syd'Quan Thompson, Amari Spivey, Navorro Bowman, Rennie Curran. That would be my list right behind the top group. Then I have a list of not so high guys that I really like.
Although Bryant himself says that he models his game after Fitz and Bolding, watching the film, do you guys agree with him? Or do you see another player that he more accurately resembles?
Thanks Boomer , so some will go before 12 , some in that 8 -12 range and some later. I really like Golden Tate , and see him in round 2 mocks a lot , which would thrill me for our selection , any chance he lasts?
I'd be surprised. The more I watch the other top wideouts, the more convincing a case Tate makes. I went back and watched about 200 plays of his from this season and he's a really, really talented player. If he runs slower then he might but when you watch him play he has an extra gear to close on a ball so I don't think he's going to run that slowly.
Thanks for the reply and insight. Of course if he consistently runs 4.55's he will slide some I agree. Sort of off topic but not , a name not mentioned for a long time and he does bring the 3 month trip baggage , what is the status of Plaxico Burress? From a strictly on the field aspect he could be a very cheap for the value option if he indeed is legally an option?
I think he's in jail for a couple of years isn't he? I think he had a hearing overturned a month or two ago. I think he's done as an NFL player.
The reason I asked was Donte Stallworth was mentioned , with some form of indication that he was going to be available to theoretically play this year. Now Burress didn't kill anyone , so I am thinking what his prison situation may be. If he gets out sometime this year I think he plays again.
I can't see the Seahawks taking him. Their pick has to be QB or OT. Cleveland maybe, but I think they have too many other needs to afford to take a WR. Plus they drafted two very high last year.
If anything Denver based on their needs and the fact that Marshall probably won't net above a later first rounder. The question for Denver is whether or not they take a Dez Bryant or McClain. If they're going with a true two-gap defend the ILB scheme I think they definitely are going McClain.
