If you search for his highlight tape on Youtube, the thing you notice in those Jets and Bills games he played last year was that he was playing with confidence. Watch him take a few big hits and then get up and celebrate or talk smack.

He is a completely different player in those highlights than we saw this year. If he can get that back he can be exactly what Keyshawn said - a guy that makes sense. Not a #1 type guy - but a guy that can make plays and fits a role on the team.

And his salary is still relatively when you consider it is on par with Charlie Anderson and Jason Allen.

    Ginn is who Ginn is.

You can't make a guy play arrogant when its not in his nature. And I don't think you have to play that way to be good. Plenty of guys don't act like jerks and still play well.

Whats the old saying, when you score a TD act like you have been there before.

I think this league has too much arrogant players as key says.

I feel badly for Ted Ginn. The only other player I felt that for was Sammie Smith. "Fans" have a tendency to look for their expectations, regardless of how realistic they may be.

They, on occasion, forget that players are also human, and have feelings just like the rest of us.

How well would we all preform, in our own jobs, if everyone was crucifying us based on their expectations? I am surprised at how well Ted has held up.

    A little food for thought.

Why feel sorry for him when he's making millions?

I agree with NJfinsfans, Ginn isn't the type to play with arrogance. He's more like LT than say Desean Jackson.

How many here have played sports, FB, BB, Hoops, etc, in grade school, HS, or above?

Any recall being boo'ed, or your home-town fans saying you sucked? If so, any recall overcoming that?

It's hard to really get that arrogant streak when you get thrown to once or twice a game. I'm not saying that he deserved more passes but it must be hard to keep that swagger when you become an afterthought in the offense.

    Just sayin...
All quiet guys that weren't the most Aggresive.
I am one of the biggest Ginn Bashers here, but I do respect him as a person....probably more than I ever did MeShawn actually.

I guess I think he should have more of that swagger that Keyshawn speaks about, but not to the extremes that a lot of people make it out to be. Just because you have that type of swagger, doesn't mean you have to be a jackass too...

I don't remember him doing the former too much, but the latter on every play
I remember how Howie Long said he defended Barry:
"As soon as the ball is snapped, just stand still right where you are, sooner or later Barry will run to that spot".
He likened it to catching the Tasmanian Devil.

I don't think he needs to be arrogant. I think he needs that quiet confidence that he can be a good player in this league and go out there and do it. Now I know he hasn't done that as of late, but if the Dolphins don't cut or trade him, Ginn needs to see it as another possible opportunity to be that good and productive player that we need.

I personally think Ginn is a bit like T.O. (not talent wise or the pain in the butt that T.O. is)

By this I mean, I think he needs a big play early, when he does that his confidence is high and he plays well. But when not he goes into a shell.

Honestly most of us have gotten past his first round draft pick. We're past that. We just want him to play well. Catch a ball, make a first down. Is it too much to ask that he plays as well as Camarillo and Bess? Just play as well as those guys who went undrafted and don't have his speed.

Honestly I think he's best as a special teamer. Let him return kicks and punts and contribute that way. Everyone will be happier.

    Here's the BIG question:

WHY IN THE HELL IS EVERYONE CONCERNED WITH TEDDY GINN???

I think I know the reason: people see a potential number one receiver in Ginn. He is also an easy target. For some reason, he seems thin-skinned. Does he let the media get to him??? Probably.

Am I saying that Ginn is a number one? No. I am saying that there are former receivers/players who are really jumping on his a** for a reason; and I think that they see the potential in this guy, but there's just something not clicking for Ginn.

I think Ginn needs some serious mentoring (and from what I understand, there have been some suitors). He could run better routes. He will never be "physical" like a Steve Smith, but he could be better at getting out of routes. This is not outside of the realm of possibilities considering there are wideouts out there who have a similar skill set.

I seriously believe that if Miami keeps Ginn, one of two things will happen:

    - He will continue with this downward spiral, or....
    - He will have finally had something click in his head (hopefully, but he wasn't a Rhodes Scholar) that will push him have that breakout year.

I want to continue to have faith in him, but it is a difficult stride. I do think that if he and Henne work together quite a bit (ala, Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison) this offseason, they could do well.

Also, Isn't this Karl Dorrell's specialty? Dorrell has the other players playing about as well as they can, why can he not get to Ginn? Because, ultimately, it is up to Ginn. He has had lapses in concentration, which gets himself into some precarious situations. There are plays where he could get a few more yards (and potentially a first down) and still save himself from a big hit. But he is so worried about not getting hit, that he ends up looking like more of a wuss. He's a frustrating player.

I think in the end, though, Miami keeps him. Ginn has the talent, he just needs to get his head screwed on if he is going to be good.

With that, Ginn may ultimately become one of Miami's all-time busts. And it is unfortunate for him because he was not asked to be drafted at nine. And then, with the whole "We drafted the Ginn family" ordeal, it really put Ginn in the spotlight early, and I do not think he is the type of guy who deals well with that type of attention.

Trust me, I think he really wants to do well, but he is letting too many things get in his head other than football. He has trouble, I think, separating the field from the off-the-field stuff. He seriously needs to get it together.

He had 900 yards from the LOS last year. All time busts is a big word, esp. in light of Jason Allen.

Ronnie brown is sick with it, but he only averages about 1066 yards per season with us, and thats' for more money and at #2 ... Yes I know TDs etc., but I'm not saying they're equal, I'm saying why are we so quick to toss someone who had 900 yards in their second season. We hit such a slump in the middle of the year (Bess, Ginn, Fasano) it began to look like a systemic, not individual, problem.

Yes but Bess and Camarillo and Hartline all had some good games. Outside of the Jets Ginn had a really bad season. Honestly if he changed nothing about his game but just actually held onto the ball when it was in his hands we'd probably be in the playoffs now.

He had a great game against the Colts. He didn't come down with the catch at the end...but the pictures show that he was blatantly interfered with.

Also he made some really nice catches down the stretch for us, only to be taken out of games the next play. I really didn't understand it, the final 5 or so games he was really getting seperation and holding onto the ball when he got on the field. He just never stayed on the field.

I Think the notion that ginn is this super talent, waiting for the light to come on is pretty much wishful thinking at this point {iam guilty of it}..I see something there talent wise, but i think it needs too much space to flash, and in todays game, with guys like tracy porter manhandling you within the first 5 yards of the los, the flash becomes very inconsistent, continually, I see his lack of strength prohibit him from making play after play, and Unless our trainers can get this kid's difficult body bigger and stronger, unfortuanately I think were seein what were gonna get imo.......

For a frail guy, he's not wiry strong...

i think we are quick to toss him because he didnt even break 500 yrds his third(supposedly the breakout season for wr's).he digressed extremely this yr. and he's in our #1 wr role.bottom line it's not cutting the mustard.and alot of the things seen wrong with him arent things that can be fixed by coaching or mentoring.

    Oh Barf!

    Are you kidding me?

    Heres food for thought......

Follow the avg. Joe making $50K a year through his daily routine at work.
Watch what happens when he screws up and drops the ball on a couple projects. Yeah.... he won't have to deal with the horror of fans or coworkers making fun of him while he still collects millions. He'll be called into his bosses office, fired and off to the unemployment line. No guaranteed salary regardless of productivity in the real world.

Get paid for being a top talent in a field you then get all the pressure and expectations from it.

I LOVE when people try to pull the pity party for athletes making millions when fans and media call out their performance as unworthy of their position and pay scale.

    Seriously??????

He wasn't in the #1 role for more than like half the year (deservedly so), so I think complaining about the not breaking 500 yards, while a valid complaint does need to be looked at with some context (the 2nd half of the year he didn't see a lot of snaps or passes).

For as terrible as Ginn is supposed to be though, he did manage to be the 70th producing WR in the league (in terms of yards). That would lead to suggest that even in a down year he'd be good enough to be a #3 WR plenty of places (including here IMO). I'm not saying he can't be upgraded, far from it, but he definitely isn't so bad that he doesn't belong in the league (again, IMO). He did after all almost have like 800 yards in 2008, so we know he is at least capable of putting up respectable (yardage) numbers, which is more than you can say about a # of WRs in the league.

Honestly he lost his starting position because of the drops. It's heartbreaking when you know the guy can do it and if he catches the ball you win. But you keep trying him out and over and over again he fails you and fails big. Eventually you cut your losses.

This was his 3rd year and he didn't get better, he got worse as a receiver. After 3 years no one can say he didn't get a fair shot.
