This could be a very bad thing for us as our staff will get to use him in the Wildcat during the game and will have a full week of evaluations on him. Not good...I am terrified to think that we either take him at 12, or trade down and take him later, if they fall in love with him that week.

I'll punch them in the face. They'll have to hold me back if they draft Tebow.

I don't mind drafting Tebow if it comes in the 3rd round or later.

I thought I was mad when we drafted Pat White. I don't want to know what I'll be if we draft Tebow, and I don't care what round it would be in.

May not be a bad thing. We are most definitely going to try and improve from the 75.2 QB rating Henne posted:up:

Now, I am not advocating drafting Tebow, but you got to admit after that performance, being able to scout him like that is a definite a+. Him and all the others

Nobody is dumb enough to take Tim Tebow at 12. Not even in the first round. He's a second day pick. A project player.

And we're going to try and do that by actually surrounding Henne with some talent to throw the football to.

I must have forgotten Henne was a 10 year pro. Shame on him for posting a 75 rating with all that experience he has. It's not like he brought us back 4 times in the 4th quarter or anything.

So because Tebow is palying in the Senior Bowl, and our coaching staff just happens to be the coaches of the South Team, that means we want Tebow.

Nothing wrong with that train of thought at all.

Right since everything was perfect for Henne. Let's start the project all over again this time with a QB who is not nearly as capable.

i could see us picking tebow with the 2nd rounder if they have given up on pat white. clearly they felt a wildcat type of QB was important to their plans. personally i would be against it but its their vision. no way would we spend a first on him though

We would never in a million years spend the 12th pick on Tebow, I mean cmon now lets relax and enjoy the offseason trades/draft/free agency. Theres nothing but positives about us getting to coach the kids at the Senior Bowl.

Is this a forum for discussion of the Miami Dolphins and all the possibilities associated with them, or just a ****ing shooting gallery for some of you?

I don't take anything for granted after watching them take Pat White at #44..........if they got excited about what White might bring to that package, then Tebow will really make their pants tight. He actually has the size to do what they wish they could do with White.

Tebow for us would be a luxury pick......a luxury we can't afford. But hey, couldn't afford it last draft either so....

What makes you think Henne will be all world when we surround him with more talent. Having all the best receivers in the league won't stop him from throwing more picks then T.D's. Lord know's we probably already have the best 1-2 punch in Running backs.

There is nothing wrong with taking a look a Tim Tebow during that week. Shoot we would be crazy not to. No one is above being up graded. Of course one assumes that the player being brought in would be an up grade. Just seems like that wouldn't be hard to do since a rating of 75.2 is really not very good.

Yes...we had a lot of injuries, I will acknowledge that but that is were a true "franchise" QB steps up and takes the team on his back. Marino was famous for it. Pennington did a good job with it last year(97.4 rating).

I am all for surrounding him with better receivers. Other then replacing Ginn I don't really know how much of an up grade we can achieve. I just hope we are still not talking about this in 3/4 years. Waiting for the guy to step out and "Franchise".................only time will tell. Hopefully it's sooner then later, because we haven't done crap since Marino's second year.......27 years ago:up:

Tebow is 3 yards and a cloud of dust in college. What is he in the NFL as a runner? He doesn't have 1/10th the athelticism of Pat White....who at least has the potential to make a big play if used the right way.

Tebow has the potential to get you two yards. In other words, he's Lou Polite with a marginal arm.

I'm a huge Tebow fan..the guy had more intangibles than any player I've ever seen. That being said, he's a project as a drop back passer. And probably a 2-3 year project at that. IMO anyway....personally, I think he'd be wise to change positions. As would all spread QB's that earned at least half their acclaim with their feet. JMO...

As far as Henne.....yeah he actually might stop throwing so many INT's if he had more talent at WR and TE. Too many times he's forced to throw to guys that are running routes that are beyond their skill set.

I'm not giving Henne a free pass but I don't think you're giving him a fair shake...

wonderful....Henne brought us back 4 times.....where should I mail his medal of honor

Again....there is nothing wrong with taking a look at Tim Tebow if our coaches want to. Or any other player at the senior bowl. One of the perks of being selected to coach it.

That's a very Cane-ish opinion you have of him..... :shifty:

Our version of the Wildcat is "SmashCat".....for which White is just too slight of build for.

Tebow is much more suited to do what Ronnie Brown does in that package than White is. As FreeStyle would say.........stop hatin

What I said was 75.2 was not hard to improve apon. I didn't say Henne himself couldn't improve apon it. In fact I eluded to it posting i was all for surrounding him with new and better talent at wide receiver.

I also posted that I didn't think we could surround him with any better 1-2 punch in backs then Ricky and Ronnie.

There is nothing wrong with the trifecta looking at Tebow. I never said we should draft him in fact I said we should look at as many players during that week as possible.

Giving Henne a fair shake......all I did was post his QB rating which I still think is not very good and easily upgraded.............upgraded by him or someone else is not for me to decide that is the decision of the coaches:up:

Ahhhhh.....I got ya. I was just being honest. Having the best receivers won't stop him from throwing picks........except for those that help out their QB instead of watching the defender pick the ball off trying to knock the ball to the ground.

There is one play that sticks in my head that just keeps playing over and over.

Down I think it was 24-17 we were driving and down near the goal line against Pitt. Henne threw a bullet to Hartline that was behind him and in an effort to catch the ball almost blew his freaking knee out because his left leg got caught up underneath him. It was so unnecessary as Hartline was wide open and no mustard was required.

We settled for 3 and Pitt pulled away for good on the next series. Growing pains....this I know....it was just such a dangerous position to put Hartline into. I just wonder how much of the frozen rope stuff is inmaturity because the guy has to be the John Elway of the Dolphins. I don't know I'm trying not to pick on him but i don't know how to convey to you what I mean.

Sorry if it comes across as if I am bashing him...that is not my intent:up:

Yeah that one speed of his "lazer"........has to be addressed. I agree..

Also....Henne is a gunslinger that knows he's carrying a big gun and has confidence in it.

I don't see him ever being among the QB's throwing the lowest amount of picks. It's just inherent to his style of play. Kinda like how home run hitters have always led the league in striking out.

Seems like Henne did pretty well this year, he's the highest ranked rookie QB by a fair margin.

    22: Chad Henne 75.2
    28: Mark Sanchez 63.0
    29: Matthew Stafford 61.0
    30: Josh Freeman 59.9

And Sanchez and Stafford both have real #1's to throw the ball to (Braylon Edwards and Calvin Johnson)

Can't really believe any sane person wouldn't be ecstatic about watching this guy grow the next few years with our team, Let alone the thought of anyone actually wanting to replace him already

Not technically a rookie but I get what you're saying, and I agree I'm really excited about next year and the future for him. Just having Ronnie behind him for more than six games is something by itself to be optimistic about, even if we have the same exact receivers from this season.

I'm a Gator fan and Grad(I still live in Gainesville) and I would not want to draft another player just for the Wildcat and not another QB at all since we have Henne and Thigpen and maybe Pennington for another year(I do not count Pat White although I'm afraid we will keep him).

I would not compare Tebow to White however. Tebow can break tackles, White falls over from a stiff wind and is more "Ginn like" but without the common sense to avoid a really hard hit. Tebow has a much stronger arm, he can throw White further then White can throw a NFL football.

I expect Tebow to be the "best" QB at the Senior Bowl much like White was the "best" there last year (can anyone name any of the other QBs from last year?) which is not saying much.

I believe that unlike Pat White, Tim Tebow will make it somewhere in the NFL as a QB. Tebow would make a great "Wildcat" QB because he can run between the tackles.

I've read some stupid things before of fan sites but saying that he will be a fullback is perhaps one of the dumbest. He is big, strong, very intelligent and a incredibly hard worker. And I do not expect him to run very often in the NFL much as I do not expect Colt McCoy to do it very often.

This year he did not have Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy to throw to and his passing stats went down. Part of the problem was also the very conservative offense we ran this year. This is the reason our WR coach left and went to LSU, his complaint being that almost all his WRs did all year was block (if a WR cannot block, he does not play for the Gators..see Louis Murphy).

It was a little funny in the Sugar Bowl when we decided to open it up.

I was always stunned when people said that Pat White had a NFL QB future but Tim Tebow did not. I mostly tend to put that down to people being "Gator Haters" and maybe(like me) getting tired of him being "so good".

Pat White played in the Big East. Run over their schedule and notice the small schools they play. The most yards he ever threw for in a season was 1,844 and I think 230 yards was his best game.

Tim Tebow played in uh...THE SEC which tends to win the National Championship year after year and is clearly the toughest conference in the nation. The lowest amount of yards Tebow passed for was almost 1,000 yards more then White's best year.

    As far as QB rating:
    Tebow was 2nd in 2007, 4th and 2008 and 1st in 2009.
White was 6th in 2007 and 27th in 2008 which were his only two years where he attempted enough passes to qualify.

Tebow threw for 3,200 yards and 32 TDs more in 3 years then White did in 4 years.

Since the NFL is a passing game now and Pat White is not fast or strong enough to run in the NFL I never understood the pick. He also had very small hands so I do not expect him to be able to play WR.

I'm sure that if Tebow had played for us this year he would have had a much better year then White did (which is not saying much). The difference being in let's say the Steelers game that Tebow could have ran more of a normal offense and the defense would not have been sitting 10 yards off the LOS.

I consider Tim Tebow a Vince Young but without the mental problems. Or a Tyler Thigpen that played against much harder competition.

He is a leader and a winner.

One thing I've observed over the years is that a QB's first year starting, you pretty much throw his QB rating out the window.

With few exceptions, Quarterbacks post miserable ratings their first year out, and even their second years, if they were thrown to into the deep end like Mark Sanchez was this season.

Too many variables, too much learning on the job.

By their third season, you start to see what kind of player they're going to be; For instance, Elway's first year: 54.9; his third year he rated 70.2, closer to the 79.9 career mark he would post. Others:

    Eli Manning: 55.4/77.0/79.2
    Carson Palmer: 77.3/93.9/87.9
    Aaron Rodgers: 39.8/106.0/97.2
    Matt Schaub: 42.0/71.2/91.3
    David Garrard: 53.8/71.2/84.9
    Donovan McNabb: 60.1/84.3/86.5
    Peyton Manning: 71.2/94.7/95.2
    Joe Montana: 81.1/88.4/92.3
    Terry Bradshaw: 30.4/64.1/70.9...and so on.

Henne needs to have better tools to work with; he also needs to fix his mechanics and do better under pressure. But that comes with time...hopefully.
