yeah i can kind of see it. if they had just kept the ex gf as a never would happen again thing. But I guess they had to have him go through a transformation somehow, and really it wasn't till what the very end where he gets nothing that he wanted that he changes. its like I said they could have cut some of it out mostly for time. but story wise I didnt think it was bad.

what do you mean by pass through? George Carlin, Rodney Dangerfield, Chris Rock and Sam Kinison(to name a few) were all regulars. Dice Clay too(though you probably hate him, if you're not into "shock").

not a fan doc. i saw him on hbo years ago. he wore a kimono and basically showed off his basic grasp of a few foreign languages and essentially gave a dull "intro to 20th century history" lesson. perhaps he's changed some? but i was annoyed by that act. seemed snarky and arrogant.

I find him hit or miss. Some bits are really fun, some really not funny. He is best known for wearing dresses.

Bro, Carlin wasn't a "regular" on Howard's show. He made a couple of appearances. A regular is someone who's on all the time.

Pat Cooper for Howard and Patrice O'Neil for O&A would be considered "regulars".

They went a bit too far in trying to incorporate all the sadness in the main characters life. Which is why they should've limited the scenes with his ex-gf. They could've still got the point across without beating that storyline to death.

I felt they neglected one of the best storylines of the film, which was Seth, Jonah and Jason Schwartzman's interactions. Honestly, had they taken out the entire bit with his ex the movie would've been better. But Apatow can't resist putting his wife and kids in his films.

I had figured he'd off himself or the drugs would get to him before he could off himself.

I'm guessing it's been a while since you listened to Howard? Dave Attell, Norm McDonald, Gilbert Godfrey, Jimmey Kimmel, and Colin Quin are all regulars on Howard. Pat Cooper hasn't been for a long time. Also, Patrice has done his show multiple times.

Sorry wasn't clear I meant his normal group, the day to day people. I just don't think any of them are funny. Howard, Robin, Artie etc...

He has had some great repeat guests, but if I were selling comedy I would stop by there too because he has a massive audience. I think the caliber of people had more to do with the size of the stern audience and their willingness to flock to whatever Sterm was promotion more than the quality of the regular people on the crew of the Stern show.

    Just my opinion.

Hey....literal guys, I was using Cooper as an example.

And Tacos, I know Patrice has been on Howard's show, but he's on O&A's alot more. Patrice isn't considered a Howard Regular. Gilbert Godfrey's been on O&A multiple times, but I wouldn't call him an O&A regular.

And yes, it's been quite awhile since I listened to Howard. It gets tiring when every single interview he ever does ends up being about sex, ya know? :wink2:

Yea...alot of us have stepped up to satellite. When you come out of your little house on the prairie maybe I'll show you what that is.

To sum up a few things. Jim Norton is the third mic on Opie & Anthony. They are, for lack of a better term, a rival of Howard Stern's. I don't like their show too much, but Norton is hilarious and Patrice O'neal is pretty good as well.

Satellite radio is a godsend and I could never go back.

And a lot of people dislike Stern and others from his ilk as shock jocks, but I think, in many ways, what they do is quite impressive. Howard, for example, does five hours a day of live radio. To keep someone entertained or glued in for that amount of time, takes some talent. Stand up comedians, have a routine, that they do over and over and over again very rarely changing it unless it is to purge their act for a new one.

In many ways, I admire what radio personalities do so much more than stand up because you are constantly coming up with material and ways to fill time. Does everything work? Hell no. I can't STAND when Howard throws the show over to Richard and Sal's crank calls (I don't think they do a good job with them).

I also don't think Howard's interviews all end in sex. He had a great interview today with Charlie Murphy and the founder of the Guardian Angels that touched on a bunch of other things other than sex. Does it come up? Sure, but we are humans, sex comes up almost on a daily basis at some point with most of us.

Plus, he is trying to fill time. Can't stress that enough.

That's sad about Jeni; I may have heard at the time, but I didn't remember.

VERY talented; I believe he may have had a greater body of work than Lange - certainly greater than Hedberg - but sadly, not as high-profile as Lange.

Too bad about The Riches; another great show by the wayside.

See, I can't listen to High Pitch Eric's Twat Cream prank any longer. I hate his voice and I hate that is is played so often. The only prank calls that I like are when Richard called the Christmas store and started naming christmas songs, and when he called the pharmacy using that loud man orgasm yell as his symptom to whatever cold he had. Oh and Sal's calls to pizza places. I DO like those, as you can tell he is tortured by his upbringing and knows how to get under their skin.

The swap shop calls and the calls to public access channels are just awful.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous you're making yourself sound comparing satellite radio, which is still basically in its infancy and growing, to an outdated video source?

    ANY idea?

    Just checkin'.

I love Artie Lange... hope he makes a full recovery and sorts out his issues. He is one of the most talented comedians in my opinion.

I think people just focus on the word "radio" and not the satellite part. No one who has satellite radio would ever knock it (in my opinion). Satellite radio, along with TiVo/DVR'sare two of the greatest technological inventions of our era. And no, I don't think I am overstating their effect on our culture.

Ipod's/mp3 players as well should be thrown into the mix.

Have to respectfully disagree here. I think the Tradio calls, especially the early ones are hysterical.

  29. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

I can think of a handful of calls that I liked from them. Richard calling the black guy with the porn collection and asking if the wang is curved or not was a riot. The tandem cals where he answers both ways at once to want ads are pretty funny as well as the Sal and Richard scooter selling one.

When they first started doing the tradio calls, I thought they were okay...but too many of them has me soured on the whole concept. And Howard relies on them way too often at this point. Another reason why it is a bummer that Artie is out, since that time is usually filled up with his impressions, stories and jokes.

I like Artie and feel for him, but who try's to commit suicide by stabbing themselves to death? Take some pills go to sleep don't wake up, jump off a tall building etc, but stab yourself 9 times? wow.

Anyway he will be in my thoughts and prayers.
