Nope.......same FO that said our WR's were fine and spent big money on Wilford Not to mention how long it took for them to realize that Ginn didn't merit the snaps he was given. If he's here next year it will be for one of two reasons....he is either too expensive to cut and no one is dumb enough to trade for him or because of more wishful thinking on the FO's part. The Ginn experiment was a dud......he is what he is. And he's VERY easily replaced. Track stars with little skill are a dime a dozen.
oh yeah and you're a communist my view is based on what parcells did with the giants where he won two super bowls. considering he's running the show it would seem that is a far more intelligent waty to view the team then whatever you're using as a basis. I mean if youre argument is we need a pro bowl player at every one of the 24starting positions then you are always going to be disappointed. if you're argument is we should become the colts then you're going to be sadly disaappointed. we are destined to have a boring run heavy play action team that will eventually have a dominating defense, hopefully next yeear. the offense is irrelevant right now. we need a defnse to get to elite status. that is priority number one for our front office not the offense
if we can get vince jackson or boldin or marshall without breaking the bank then i would do cartwheels
Sorry I just think that's an out-dated philosophy..... We tried that, remember? It's what led us to the bowels of hell...us trying to duplicate that 2000 Ravens team. This is a passing league now and big play WR's and or TE's are a must....."elite" defenses are not. Putting up 35 points a game makes any defense look better.....just look at the Saints and Colts.. Not to mention we have more of the pieces in place to make the offense elite than we do on defense...
Same, lol. But it isn't going to happen. Honestly, we should draft Benn then sign a player like Avant or Bryant. Then let Camarillo, Bess, Hartline, Ginn, Turner, Bryant/Avant, and Benn compete. Let the best 5 play. That wouldn't break the bank, and that could give Henne the weapons he needs.
thats what i see. go with a B level FA pickup, draft someone on the second day 3-5 rd and then let them battle it out. may the best receivers win
Hartline is a better Receiver than Ginn in his rookie season than Ginn ever has been - even now with 3 years experience - because Brian Hartline is a football player - Ted Ginn just plays football.
we never tried that. fiedler wasnt trying, fiedler was suicide. getting a qb was priority number one and somehow this FO got lucky enough to land Henne in the 2nd round. you need a QB, a running game and a top defense. thats enough to win it all. anything else is gravy. hey i enjoy gravy but lets make sure the meal is served first and the concept that defense and a run game is outdated is just quackery IMO. One only needs to look at the last five or ten SBs to disprove that
Why even bother if you are going to do that? Do we really need MORE complimentary WR's? Can you not see how badly we need someone that can catch a ball and break a tackle? Someone that can go up in traffic? Or how badly we need a red zone threat? If we aren't going to seriously pursue a legitimate #1 WR....then leave it alone and we'll just continue drafting from spots 17-23 over the next decade.
What team have you been following? The Baltimore model was exactly what Wannstedt tried to build. He said so himself.
I agree, but I would pick someone like Benn in the second round. He has the potential to be a very, very good number one receiver. He just needs a real QB throwing him the ball.
We tried to replace Fielder the EXACT same way you want to try and find a #1 WR....wasting picks on guys that have little upside and shopping in the bargain bin. And we don't need a top defense.....just a good one. Putting points on the board win games and the ones who put the most up are big time play makers. That's what we need more of....
so draft a TE. Dont need a WR and it fits Parcells strategy. we can get a good TE throughout this draft and dont need to overspend
Heartline > Ginn. No questions. Ginn is a 3d or 4th WR, who is a situational deep threat, and a kick returner. Reason he stays? Nobody will want him, and we cant afford to cut him. What does his contract look like?
you might as well try to build the Colts with John Beck as you're QB . Until you have a QB you have no team. Johnson and Dilfer won which gives you about a 20% of winning with a crappy QB and Dilfer at least had an arm so clearly wanstedt wasnt trying to replicate anything
Right and when you do, you will find that all those teams had big time play makers at WR......or at least WR's making big plays. It's a different game now days.
And what if 2010 is an uncapped year? Do the Dolphins admit he was a mistake and cut ties or do they keep him around and expect a different result, while still on the hook for his ridiculous contract?
Just because your opinions differ, doesn't mean his answer is the wrong answer. A TE would make as much sense as a WR.
sounds great in a soundbite but reality says differently. just look at who has won the SBs in the last ten years Ravens Qadry Ismail Brandon Stokely Patriots Troy Brown David Patten Buccaneers Keyshawn Johnson Kennan McCardell Patriots Deion Branch Troy Brown Patriots David Givens Deion Branch Steelers Hines Ward Antwan Randle El Giants Plaxico Buress Amani Toomer Steelers Santonio Holmes Hines Ward even though some of the teams have better receivers several are nothing to write home about and honestly if Bess, Hartline, Ginn and Turner continue to develop we will be just as good if not better than a few of them
Now I understand why your take on reality is as off as it is on Ginn. Wannstedt specifically named the Baltimore team with Dilfer at QB as the model on which he tried to fashion his Dolphins' teams. You can choose to ignore that FACT, but it doesn't belie the truth.
Actually we need both.....legitimate number one guys. And he's told me I was wrong plenty of times.......just ask him.
Thats what weve been doing and its blown up in our face. We NEED a #1 wr to compete these days. Didnt you see what happened to us against Indy and New Orleans?
Those last two SB's were won with good QB's throwing to WR's that make/made big plays....soooo, lets get some big play guys, you trade that cassette deck in for a CD player and lets get with the times
so you belittle my take on reality and expect me to view a 6'4 245lbs QB with a strong arm and zero mobility as being exactly the same as a hobbit QB 6'1" 220lbs with zero arm strength and mobility. Yeah he absolutely used the same model for a team. No differnece in QBs whatsoever.....righhhhhhhhhhttttttttttttttt. hitting ricky's secret stash ?
Not to anyone who has a grasp of modern NFL offenses. We do need a TE, but we can get a good one in free agency.
The first four examples you provided were prior to the strict enforcement of no contact beyond 5 yards rule, which was implemented after the 2003 AFC Championship game when the Colts and Peyton Manning whined with regards to how the Patriots DBs were playing their receivers. It was a different game back then. Since that point, the #1 receivers on the eventual SB champions are on another planet in terms of talent, when compared to the WR stable we have here in Miami. Not sure that this post does anything to prove your point.
ahhh i get it. so the game magically changed two years ago. that was the exact moment it changed and made your theory on football corrrect and parcells outdated. gotcha
ah the pasties are after the 2003 championship and although you can make the case that hines ward is better than what we have he isnt in the randy moss category. plaxico was hurt for much of the giants super bowl run. is amani toomer on another planet compared to camarillo or hartline?. one possession receiver is another possession receiver is another possession receiver. the reason those teams won isnt receiover but defense. you guys cant see the forest for the trees
