This is one interesting developmental prospect. At 6'10" - 283lbs he has exhibited the body control to play wr. This is only his second year playing Wr after a couple years at LT after a couple of years as a DT. As an army grad it will be a couple of years before we really get a return on the investment but this is the type of long term project that could come up aces.

To be clear he has no future as a wr at the NFL level. But he could be groomed as a LT or a DT/DE. As a Lt he needs some work, he plays too high at times and is just now developing strength in his lower body to play the position. He is very athletic though, agile, and blocks well downfield. With his frame he could be a terror on the OL or DL.

    Thoughts?

Discussed him in the 2010 thread. He's been invited to the Shrine Game and is projected as a TE and/or LT (depending on the team) at the next level.

Since that thread is over 1000 posts deep and I have only read part of it ill just as you what your assessment of him is. How long do you think he will take to develop? Can he support the necessary 20-30 pounds he will need to add to play LT at the NFL level?

Do PBU's count when they bounce off the back of his helmet?

There's actually a search tab on the top right of the forum, but unless you're a Mod or something you might not realize it's there. :shifty:

I think there's only one thing to do with a guy like that and that is to put him at TE.

By the way his Army obligations no doubt render him undraftable.

How funny is it that for the 8 games he actually played this year, he had 60% of the receptions, 68% of the receiving yards, and all 5 of the TDs. Army has always been a running team but when they passed it, it was going to Villaneuva.

ya I was thinking 7th round or udfa. But he's a fascinating project with a good work ethic and a skillset that fits at a variety of positions. TE was one that I didn't think of.

Maybe if we get down to the 7th round and they literally have no players left on their board like a year ago, but I doubt it. He's undraftable.

Watching the guy, the first thing I noticed was that he struggles to pick up his feet consistently when running and I wonder how much of that has to do with the fact that he's a gigantic 285 pound wide receiver/tight end. He has to shed some weight if he's going to play tight end and he's not very quick off the LOS. I've noticed that he struggles to block consistently at the second level and I think it has to do with his lack of quickness because he can't get to the target fast enough. He also needs to build up his strength, as I've seen him get pancaked by a safety once and I've seen him get pancaked again by an end. I've watched him block inline a little and he struggles with quickness. Seems like that's where his main issues are.

On pass catching, from what I saw, he ran a crossing pattern once and jogged another. I also saw him run a go route. I saw him run a button hook once sometime in the fourth quarter I believe and he looked good doing it. He ran it inside the numbers, saw a linebacker move over in front of him and then he extended it by coming back to his quarterback and catching the ball with his hands right below the numbers. He looked good catching it, wrapped it up IIRC and gave a weak stiff arm. He had another route which was a corner route. He lined up about half a yard inside the numbers, ran a speed cut and the route ended about fourteen yards down. The pass was thrown, he located it in the air, caught it with his hands and brought it down. However, he didn't secure it and got it ripped out of his arms as he was attempting to shake off two tacklers. Luckily, he got it back. Off the LOS, he's got inconsistent quickness IMO. Sometimes he looks very, very slow off the line and getting into his route but other times, he shows adequate quickness and looks to have some promise. I think the reason for him showing promise is because he's a former soccer player and he's ran track or something similar to that IIRC so he's had a lot of work with his feet.

As for his draft grade, I think someone would be willing to take a seventh rounder on him so his services are secured but he has the whole Army thing he has to live up to. I think two years he has to serve before he can be released. I think he's able to be released early though. I think his NFL future could be at tight end because whilst he's raw, he shows some potential IMO. He's shown he can run routes and catch pretty well, he needs to work on getting his body fit like he's asked and work on his quickness as well as blocking in space. He's got potential because whatever pass you make in his direction, it's indefensible. He can make catches that will be very hard to separate him from the ball. To answer your questions, I think he's going to need a couple of years to develop. And if he plays OT, I don't think he would play LT. I see him more as a RT.

Stick him at TE and you'd could really run an "unbalanced" line!
