This team has way to many holes to fill to win 4 out of the next 5 games to have any shot at the playoffs.
I think we need a pair of ILBS in the draft, nose tackle,Te,and a real FS(hopefully chris clemons is that guy).We also need a real #1 wr in free agency or trade for one.I think with a real #1 devon bess turns into wes welker. We can not afford to develop one thru the draft or we will be in the same place next season.
    What do you all think?

I think we can get 1 more year out of porter but I am starting to think taylor is done.I want to replace both ILBS because they seem to be invisible every game.I think they have combined for 1 fumble recovery and no picks the entire season so far.We need game changing plays once in a while and do not even get me started on their coverage abilities.

i think the reverse. i think porter is done but we can get 1 more out of taylor.

ILB i agree with as well as game changing plays.

on both sides of the ball.

we're still rebuilding. we'll be alright.

    What do I think?

I think we are a couple players away from having a dominating offense so I would like to finish that first. There are no FA WR's that are going to put us over the edge (unless the NFL and Players come to terms and even then we are talking about V Jackson and Marshall who I do not believe are going to be available). If we are going to get a WR it is going to be through the draft.

    What I would do is:

    1. Sign either Casey Hampton or Wilfork and leave Soliai as the back to whoever we sign.
    2. Sign Karlos Dansby to take over one of the ILB positions.
    3. Draft Dez Bryant with our 1st round pick
    4. Jerry Huges in the 2nd
    5. Harry Coleman SS (let Clemons play FS)
    6. Mike Williams WR (risk reward pick)

we would still need to upgrade a couple LB positions and the TE position but I think that goes a long ways towards fixing some of our problems

I think porter has 4 sacks in the last 2 games and the only play taylor has made was a roughing the passer call in the bills game.

I would not be opposed to trading for one. Most of the the time wrs take about 3 yrs to develop and drafting one most likely will not help us for next year.

I would double up with anquan, bring that boy home where he wants to be, then sign his teammate Dansby, those are my 2 free agent signings, then i go hard after rolando mcclain with my first pick, because i understand how weak the position is, and how important a middle linebacker with special talent and intangibles are to the defensive identity iam trying to create..I will move up to get him, if its a reasonable jump.

If that does'nt work, then plan B, sign anquan and Demeco or dqwell, and get a close look at brandon spike's, if he's worthy of the pick, then take him.

The way i look at it, with the cba and all that, anquan could be the most sure thing, considering we checked him out last year.

    that is a myth...

are player going to be better after they have been inb the NFL for three years vs their rookie year? Of course, they should be but a good receiver can come into the NFL and be an impact player from the start. This year alone we have guys like Crabtree (who missed part of the season), H Nicks P harvin, J Maclin, A Collie and P Garcon. Those guys are all making huge impacts on thier teams.

Heck , Colston had over a 1000 yards as a rookie and that same year S Holmes had over 800 yards receiving.

Having said that, I would mind it if the Fins draft Ro McClain in the first and came back to the WR position in the 2nd.

The way it looks now FA may be all but non existent. That means any improvement will come by trade (probably costing draft picks) or draft.

WR is by far the most important hole. ILB is second.

JT is playing very well right now. According to PFF he has been the 5th best 3-4 OLB this year. I don't get why people think he's done. I guess their looking at his age rather than his play. Porter has come alive since his benching and is now playing well. I think either or both of those guys will be here if we want them.

Wake is already the best pass rusher on the team. If he had sufficient snaps PFF would have him as the 3rd best performing 3-4 OLB.

And even Anderson, ranked 12th per PFF played well when he got the opportunity.

So OLB is not even on my list unless some prospect is far and away the BPA.

#1 is WR (what will it take for people to see that?)

...after that I'd look for Safety, TE, DT, ILB.

We need to work on the interior of the OL as well. Smiley cant stay healthy and Thomas, while OK, hasnt been as good we hoped. Groves injuries are worrisome as well.

We've been signing some injury prone guys, and its rearing its ugly head right now. Hopefully we can nail some FA moves - we desperately need a big successfull signing out of that.

    Address:
    WR
    ILB
    S
    NT/DT
    G
    Depth/ST

I would like us to sign at least 1 premier FA at the ILB or WR slots if at all possible.

Eddie Royal came in last year and had a good year, and is having a good year this year. Don't know the stats, but the kid makes plays. He gets open, catches the ball, and gets YAC.

Desean Jackson as well, now that I think about it.

I think WR is one of the easiest positions to translate from college to the pros. That and RB.

he could be traded or cut because Breaston is a FA and they will probably go with him.

Roddy White, Santonio Holmes, Steve Smith (NYG), Chad Johnson (Ocho Cinco) are all receivers who didnt do much their rookie years so lets not jump to conclusions. Thewre are far more receivers who start playing well in their 2nd and 3rd years than their rookie years

None of the receivers you mention besides crabtree, and colston our a number #1 receivers. These guys take advantage of playing besides a #1.
I can give a huge list of guys that took at least 2 years to fiqure the postion out.Look up the stats of the two biggest wr free agents on the market this year, marshall, jackson.Hell jackson took 4 years to get going.

You can do that with any position... WR's are not exculsive to getting better over time...

Problem is that there are no FA WR's that we are going to be able to wsign. The Cahrgers are not going to let V Jackson go, the only way Marshall does not stay with the Broncos is if they fall apart and his attitude becomes a problem for Denver. Once again, there are no #1 reveivers that are going to be FA's.

You are missing the point. It is rare for a receiver without help on the other side(which we currently do not have)to become a factor let alone a #1 in the first year.I can think of only 3, boldin, colston, jackson in recent history to do it.The chances of us finding a guy to step right in and be the guy is slim.
That being said i do agree jackson for sure and marshall will probally not hit the market. That being said if we do not get somebody thru trade hopefully free agent we are going to be in the same spot as this year unless we get lucky in the draft.Parcells track record drafting #1 wrs is not great.

the chance are none if we don't address the issue through the draft because there are no FA's that can fill that role.

I would give up a second rounder for an unhappy #1 receiver in a heartbeat. So we do have other options besides the draft.

This team does not have a lot of holes. We have a ton of talent. We need to go get a big time receiver and draft a few linebackers and we're set.

Every year somebody is not happy with his contract i do not have a crystal ball we will have to wait and see what happens.Hopefully somebody will come our way and please not boldin this guy can not stay healthy for a full season. If we can not get anybody then we will have no choice but to draft somebody.

    In no particular order:

    1. Hire a new OC
    2. Get a true #1 WR
    3. Upgrade our LB corps
    4. Sit and wait for Henne, Davis and Smith to geta year older and better.

We really need to replace both ILBS they stink.I think we do this thru the draft.
As for wr marshall would improve our offence dramatically but the broncos would be fools to let him walk.
Man i would love to get wilford as our nose tackle but i can;t see the pats letting him go.
The most deppressing thing about free agency is that most of the players do not even make it to the open market.

I would hate to give up a 2nd rd pick is a rather deep draft (particularly at LB)

Do you think Arizona would go for this: Crowder and Ginn for Boldin?

That way we clean house a bit, Crowder steps in for Dansby and Ginn steps in for Boldin/Breaston. Then we draft

    1. McClain ILB/Morgan OLB
    2. Hughes OLB/Kindle OLB/Spikes ILB
    3. Mike Johnson OG
    4. Mike Williams WR
    6. Legarrette Blount RB

Also, try FA for either AZ NT's Gabe Watson/Alan Branch or maybe GB NT's Pickett/Jolly
