No, I never said that was the list, I said that was my list. I know that won't be the list, I've pretty much come to think that half the Heisman voters don't even watch college football (or at least don't care that much).
i have norwood as a 2nd rounder also. i like him for the dolphins but i just cant see him going ahead of players like hughes
i like ford alot. he would be a hell of a slot receiver. i wonder where he'll go. he would be great value in the 3rd round but probably doesnt escape the 2nd. wonder what his combine numbers will look like
i really like royster's style. nothing flashy about it but very effective. i love how there's never any lost yards on his carries. hhe gets every yard you could expect. i dont know how much higher he will go next year if he waits so i'm not sure if its worth it. he might be a 4th rounder this year. nex year? i dont really see him getting into the 2nd round but maybe he could be a 3rd. he doeswnt seem to have enough wow in his game. do you know what his 40 time is? bowman is going to be reallynice for someone. i wouldnt mind him here. i think he's a 2nd rounder though. maybe a late 1str rounder but i think he goes 2nd like norwood
price is great. i been watching him since september. flying under the radar but someone is getting a steal if he lasts into the 3rd. gut feeling is someone will grab him 2nd
Watched that Oregon/Arizona game last night. Seen Oregon a few times this season and have continued to be impressed with Jeff Maehl the Ducks WR. Hell of a competitor, good route runner, great hands, clutch guy who at 175lbs takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Really like what he brings to the party. Jeremiah Masoli was the story but I don't envisage an NFL future for him. To small and whilst he displays good touch at times, he thinks run way t oo early and doesn't set up properly as a passer. He literally stands there and throws the ball, rather than displaying any technique. He's not quick enough to be a running back either. Much like Tim Tebow, he's a great college player, but that's about it. LeMichael James falls into that Dion Lewis category, especially with regards vision. And much like Lewis he's much stronger than his size. It'll be interesting to see him run conventionally because with all the east/west running he does, he'd probably run for 2,000 yards in a conventional north/south attack. Ed Dickson was his usual self. Jack of all trades, master of none. He's a decent blocker, he has good hands, he runs decent routes. Nice wheel route to get open in 2nd overtime and he ran the exact same play that Brandon Pettigrew ran for the game winner for Detroit on Sunday and ran it beautifully. I think he's a bit light for us, but he's also a major special teams contributor. Eddie Pleasant was excellent as a rush threat, but at 207lbs, I hope he gets some time at safety. Shame that Walter Thurmond was lost for the season with a knee injury as he and Jairus Byrd were one of the best corner combos ion football last year. Interesting to see Clay Matthews's son and kid brother playing MLB for the Ducks. For Arizona I was very impressed with Nick Foles. Very impressed. I've seen snippets of him but never a full game. He has a good arm, can make all the throws, good delivery point, he throws catchable balls in the intermediate and short area, he uses his feet well to manipulate the pocket and clearly leads that offense. On the downside, he has the Aaron Rodgers issue of occasionally holding the ball too long. He also doesn't deliver the deep ball very well, partly because he doesn't step into his deeper throws and drive the ball very well. He doesn't follow through and really drive it down the field and the result is that the ball comes out short and high. But if he adjusts those, he's a first round possibility for 2012. He's also going to be helped by two very good wideouts who are going to help him much as Tate and Floyd help Clausen. Juron Criner came up huge and displays tremendous hands and route running ability. William Wright is more of a speedster, but these two look good players, Criner especially. Defensively Devin Ross was OK but I find myself saying that every time. He IS aggressive in run support, but I didn't like the way, when he had inside coverage on Maehl in the endzone, that he was outmuscled to the ball by a guy that he was in perfect position on. Cam Nelson at SS played Masoli very well as a rover. He tackles well in the open field, but when he was in coverage, he looked steps slow to the ball.
I watched this game on Saturday. Totally agree about Jeremiah Masoli and Tim Tebow. I would have liked Ed Dickson to be more involved in such a big game but I still like him. Maybe he'll slide to the 3rd round. Criner is going to be big time. Not a fan of Ross or Nelson. Not for the Dolphins anyway. Boomer, you totally forgot about T.J. Ward. From a Dolphins perspective he was the best player in that game. We have a need at safety and he is one of the best safety prospects coming out. I thought he had a really good game against Arizona.
Yeah, it was accidental. I thought he did pretty well. I'd argue he was the best player in the game though
I meant best player from a Dolphins perspective. In other words the player we would be the most interested in because I don't see us drafting Jeff Maehl, Jeremiah Masoli, LaMichael James, Eddie Pleasant, Casey Matthews, Nick Foles, Juron Criner, William Wright, Devin Ross, Cam Nelson, or even Ed Dickson. Mainly because a lot of them aren't seniors or juniors. The other guy that interested me was Earl Mitchell. He didn't have a bad game but he wouldn't be my first choice to replace Ferguson. Or my second, third, or fourth. Might be worth a late round pick though because he did show some flashes. Worst play was at the end of the game. He had a chance to make a game-saving tackle for Arizona but came up short.
Does anyone else find Dezmon Briscoe to be a lazy route runner? He's got good hands but he doesn't sharpen his routes. He also needs to pick up his intensity in run blocking. I wonder how much of his success has come from him often having single match ups, as I've seen Kansas go to a four WR set and he's the lone flanker on a single side.
Where does he project as of right now? Late first early 2nd? I would love for him in round 2 but thats wishful thinking : /
Mike Williams of Syracuse? He had an early second round grade on him IMO. Some had him as a first but I think he was a second because of his character. I'd imagine that now he's probably in the third/fourth range. He's a talented player but remember, he's had several incidents off the field, he's had team violations resulting in suspensions and last year he missed the entire year because of academics.
Yeah, we'll have to see how the interviews go because he's had a lot of issues. Several team violations, kicked off the team, academic issues (cheating)as I noted earlier and it's said that he's had some issues focusing. I know that NFL teams have said he has some "serious issues" so we shall see. I think talent wise, he's one of the best in the nation. He's always open, runs good routes and has good hands. However, it's all useless when you can't get on the field due to immaturity. If you could get him in the third/fourth round, get him to focus somehow, there's your deep threat and number one.
There's a couple of things about Ward that put me off; one is that he's like Pat Chung; big hitter, but susceptible to the ball over the top. His first view is run. Secondly, he's only played half of this season and he's previously had two big knee injuries.
FSU's Dekoda Watson has received a Senior Bowl invitation. He got off to a nice start but has battled injuries this year. Also, apparently Ras-I-Dowling isn't held in high regard around the NFL circles. Some view him as a player who should go back to school and work on his game. Some think he's a safety.
Beats me. FSU's Patrick Robinson is hard to gauge right now IMO. I'm watching him against Maryland and there's things that I really like about him such as how he's a hitter and he really does a nice job reading the game. Problem is, sometimes he looks like an athlete in pads. He doesn't always seem to know what he's doing out there. A receiver will run a pivot route and simultaneously, the slot is running a corner route. Now, Robinson would have to decide between getting the short receiver or the deep one and he drops further back to get the deep one, except what he didn't realize was that he already had a safety over the top of him and covering the slot, so the short receiver catches the ball and gets a first down. Luckily for Robinson, he forced the fumble and FSU recovered. I've got to watch more of him.
Also, I can see why you guys say that Joe Haden is overrated but I can also see why NFL teams like him. It seems like he gives up a lot of completions but it also looks like the UF defense is designed that way, preventing the deep ball. Looks like a pure zone at times and Haden will drop into his quarter of the field. Haden reminds me of something Nick Saban once said; "If you're not matching the pattern and cheating the receiver, you're never going to make it. You're going to be watching completions all night long. You're never going to make it (to the ball)." I want to see Haden be more aggressive. He's got some talent but he's not the top cornerback in the class IMO.
Couple of things I like about him; he trails very well. Myron Rolle told me that Terrell Buckley has worked really hard on a couple of aspects of Robinson's game; the trail technique and closing and breaking on the ball in terms of how he reads the field. I also like the way he hits in the run game and the fluid athleticism he shows.
Yeah he does. I dislike the way he tends not to get involved in action close to him and he looks smaller than 5'11. But he can play.
anyone watch texas a&m vs texas last night? lol. what a game. gotta tell you, he wasnt on my radar but QB Jerrod Johnson had one hell of a game. Connsidering that he could barely play last year, the amount of growth he's experienced in one year is phenomenal. Definitely someone to watch next year since he's only a junior. Sergio Kindle is still looking for his jockstarp after some of the moves Johnson put on him. OT Ulatoski just drops further eveyr time I watch him. He can't handle speed for the life of him. Might be alright as a ROT but would be a major liability as a LOT. DE Van Miller has some burst. I cant see him coming out since he needs alot of work still but that burst is impressive
That's exactly why I've been uncomfortable with him actually (small). If only Jonathan Baldwin was in this draft. Wooh boy.
Kid is straight up ridiculous isn't he. Speaking of talented wideouts, did you see the two one hand stabs by Brandon Marshall on Thursday? Sheesh.
I did - unbelieveably talented WR. Would love to see him in Miami next year, but do you think his off-field stuff would give him a black mark?
Taped and watched a lot of games from the last 48 hours but a couple of immediate standout points: 1. Toby Gerhart should win the Heisman. 2. Golden Tate now sits as my number two WR prospect behind Dez Bryant. He just does too much well to ignore him. I take the size issues into consideration but what you cannot question is the talent that this kid possesses and his ability to do all the little things well. 3. I doubt Ras-I-Dowling has had a worse performance than the one yesterday. That CB class is a whole big jumble.
I think I'm going to be contrarian heading into the Draft Cycle 2010, most phinsfans think we will go Wr with our #1 or #2 pick, I'm not feeling it. Here is why, Sparano is a Oline coach at heart, our Oline is "good' but not "great", our Guard play is still to weak, so for me Mike Iupati is on the radar: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=73948&draftyear=2010&genpos=OG I also think Sparano being an ex Te Coach our Walmart Te's are not what he wants moving forwards, especially with Fasano's surrprising collapse I'd put Gresham up here but his blocking is not even at Witten levels, it would not surprise me at all if we went after the Broncos Tony Schefler or even Peyton Hillis as a H-Back type of player. With the dirth of quality Te's in this draft (though Gresham will wow at the Combine) we go ILB or DE/OLB in Rd #2. So imho: G, Lb, Rb, Te, DT that to me is the shopping list.
Smiley's shoulders are not going to get better Boom, iirc that is what did Randal McDaniel in. D Thomas has not played to the level most thought he would coming into this season either.
I think Smiley will be fine, although point taken on the shoulders. Regarding Thomas, remember, he's only played 11 pro games in his life. He's going to get better.
Can't help but like Mardy Gilyard, but also can't help but wonder if lightning strikes twice on a DeSean Jackson-sized WR like him. Doesn't block AT ALL. That won't endear him to this staff. Golden Tate doesn't have great size but at least he's got a solid build. But if I know this staff, they love a guy with good (as opposed to "not terrible") size, great athleticism and acceleration, hands and physicality. Right now it's hard for me not to fit Rejus Benn into that hole for many of the same reasons they liked Vontae Davis. Dez Bryant probably won't make it to us. They won't touch Mike Williams with all of his issues. They like Brandon LaFell and that's scary because he doesn't adjust to the ball in flight half as well as Rejus Benn. Jordan Shipley's a glorified slot receiver and they know it. Eric Decker doesn't have the wheels for the job IMO. They want guys who have burst. I've got more work to do on Jeremy Williams and Danario Alexander, but right now I think their guy would be Benn.
I would agree with you on the top guys and also that of those top guys then Benn would be the target. But I also tend to think that they would target some second tier type guys with upside that are probably going to rise like a Ryan Wolfe from UNLV or a David Gettis from Baylor....guys with size and AA that are probably going to end up in the 4.5-4.6 area speed wise...also Riley Cooper depending on what he actually times and his shuttles may end up rising higher than most would suspect.
