I hate to say it as I've always pride my self on being a "die hard fan" but I am with you.

Done with this organization if "we" do this bull**** again. Done. 110% done. No support at all.

Please tell me they didn't tear down my Orange Bowl for this?

it's agent speak. i wouldn't get too worried. they have a year to come to terms. there's going to be lots of posturing going on before that.

And they wonder why they can't fill seats and build a decent sized fanbase. What's the point of developing quality young players if u don't want to keep them?

When it comes to the Marlins, post-1997 will always be in the back of my mind. I will never forget what happened to that team. One of the things I hate about baseball, especially here... It is impossible to be a fan of players on this team when they all end up being traded.

Sick...dude...that skinflint cheap *** Marlins owner said they could easily cut even more payroll and shrink it down to 19 million for the season.

Run...don't walk...run away from that franchise...

padre i love the marlins.....i have loved them sense 93 when i was 6...and was on the marlins as a tee-ball team. i have met conine, mike lowell, miguel, dontrelle, pudge, willingham, olsen, ugla, hanley....and i feel like i have grown up with the franchise. it breaks my heart as a fan to see dontrelle love the team immensley, to love the fans, to play his balls off and get shipped off like no one cares what he and others like beckett, lowell, and pierre did for this franchise.

if you think about the team we could have.....derreck lee at first, louis castillo at 2nd, hanley at short, lowell at 3rd, pierre at center, pudge at catcher, pitchers of beckett, penny, josh johnson etc etc

we would have a dynasty....and to continue to root...and think "maybe they'll keep these guys" with the stadium being built.....and then see willingham and olsen moved.....dontrelle and cabrera moved.....imagine miguel and hanley in the same lineup?!?!? jesus christ.....

it kills me. and now to know....uggla and josh johnson could be next.....i am completley 100% done with the marlins and done with baseball. period.

This may sound messed up, but "good" until the owner gets the message that no one will support that team if he continues to refuse to retain the young stars that build fan loyalty.

To me that is why Marlins home games are dead zones, no one trusts the Marlins enough to invest the time it takes to even mildly keep up with how they are doing.

The marlins are proof that MLB not only needs a salary cap, they need a salary floor as well...19 million in payroll for the whole team? ARod alone makes more than 19 million.

True, and it brings up an ugly truth about MLB...unless one is a fan of a team with the resources to have a large payroll, one is more or less going to watch your favorite players migrate to those big money teams while "you" go through yet another "rebuilding year".

Angels, NY, Bos. Philly, consistently make it to the playoffs, unless one is a fan of the Twinkies then chances are good...one more year of alsorans..

I will not attend another Marlins game until guys like Josh Johnson gets locked up long term.

If he ends up elsewhere, I am boycotting the team for good.

Everyone needs to do this. Opening day in that new stadium should be EMPTY.

I WANT MY ORANGE BOWL BACK!!!!!!!!!

While i agree if you didnt' trade some of those guys you could have had a great team, but you wouldn't have gotten Hanley without trading beckett and lowell.

A lot of people in or from Florida like the Braves... just saying. You're going to need a new team to follow.

On a serious note I would be pretty pissed about this too. I guess he'll go to the Yankees or Red Sox now.

Hey if you want Luis Castillo back that badly, I will be more then happy to drive him back to florida and let you fish him out of the back of my trunk. He is hands down the worst everyday 2B in MLB and a fraction of the player you remember him as.

In all seriousness, I feel for ya man. It would tick me off too. I had a similar thing happen with the New York Islanders hockey franchise for a number of years in the late 80's through the late 90's. Once proud franchise gone to crap because of a greedy damn owner. We watch/attend games because we love it....they treat as a business. Really grinds my gears. I feel the pain for Marlins fans even though Im a Mets fan and I really shouldn't. No fan base should have to go through this.

Forget the fact that there have been 24 different teams in the playoffs since 2000 in MLB compared to 24 in the NFL where the cap makes everything even. Its not always that you spend money its how you spend the money. For instance, my Mets last year spent 147M horribly wrong.

    2009-yankees

When the angels won their payroll was below 60M and outside the top 10 payrolls in the league. Those cards and White Sox you reference were outside the top 5. The Marlins the first time they won it were in the top 5.

I can definitely understand the frustration you're feeling as I'm sure it's hard to root for a team that seemingly has 25 new players every few years or so. But you do have to give the organization (at least the front office) credit for drafting/restocking the farm system during these turnover periods. I'm sure that's one of the reasons why it's hard to draw fans to the games.

A lot of the guys you mention like Willis, Penny, Olsen, Willignham, Conine and Ivan Rodriguez aren't really big deals nor would they be the difference in winning or losing. I mean Willis isn't even a major league player right now and the only reason he's still on a MLB roster is because of the insane contract given to him.

The only one that hurt was Miguel Cabrera leaving (especially since both Maybin and Miller have been major disappointments so far but both are still young enough to turn it around), who should have been a franchise player along with Hanley. Beckett would have hurt because he was a young legit ace when he was dealt but of course without trading Beckett you don't get Hanley, so it's a wash pretty much.

Maybe it will get better once they get a new stadium, but I think the problem might be in the ownership. I guess we'll see if the Marlins can draw once the new stadium is built and if ownership is willing to spend money. Right now the Marlins have a pretty good core if they can somehow find a way to lock them up, they might be very good for a very long time.

SICK, you're going to leave because one player might go unsigned? Look, I'm a die hard too, and it is hard. But we compete year after year with this team. You can't leave because of one player, it makes no sense. Stick around and enjoy watching this team grow.

not because one player. but because that one player will be the final straw of multiple blow ups and trades.....and im sick of it

they have no excuse now, they have a stadium being built....you'd think they'd want die-hards to fill it

I don't know anything about baseball but I am a fan of a team who has had a hard time spending money because of their stadium. It's soccer related and it's Arsenal of the Barclays' Premier League. I know you don't follow soccer but I can tell you that the team had to be really cheap since their stadium has opened and they are still pretty cheap. They can't afford big time players like other clubs can and therefore, they haven't won a major trophy in four (or five I can't remember) years and have been forced to growing their own players from their academy. Newly built stadiums are awesome to look at but they are a complete pain in the *** when you look at the whole picture and when you see how hard it makes it for your favorite team to stay competitive at the top of the league (or division in your case). Even though they get more profit, a lot of it goes into paying for the bills of the stadium, therefore eating up your cash to spend. It's even worse when your owner isn't willing to invest his own money, though I don't know if that's the case with your Marlins.

    Just my two cents.

sorry alen, but i think the city of miami is footing most of the bill for the stadium (hence why they are changing their name to the miami marlins) so they have no excuse, the owner (loria) is a cheap *******....who wishes he was the yankees owner, but doesnt spend any money.....sadly i remember seeing a story saying loria spent more money on ART in one season then his payroll for the marlins....it makes me sick.

Loria at least puts good teams on the field. Thef re was very little fans when Loria loaded the team and spent money. Its hard cause of fans and owner. When ur a team that does not spend alot its always hard to put money into pitching. Pitchers get hurt and are done. Its hard to watch but bare with them

We watch them grow only to be traded away once that potential equates to trade value of the same minor league potential they grew from in the first place.

It's a cycle that goes on and on and on. We are a farm system.

We're not a farm system. This team wouldn't be competeing if it was a farm system.

Funny thing is, this FO isn't being cheap with JJ. They just don't want a 4th year in the contract. Does it have a little to do with the money? Maybe. But the main reason the negotiations are stalling is because of the 4th year. Pitchers are injury prone. Everyone knows that. And JJ already had one major injury to his arm, so this FO doesn't feel very comfortable giving him a fourth year.

BTW, another major reason very little fans come to the games is due to the horrible weather conditions. It's either to hot or raining. With a retractable roof on our stadium, more fans SHOULD come to the games.

"we'll pay when we get a stadium"

Yeah construction has started and Loria is still a cheap **** who wonders why no one bothers coming to the games. Maybe, just maybe its because you get rid of the players you develop and the fans get pissed.

Oh and David Samson is a giant ****ing tool.
