I know I'm a newbie on here, and I don't want to get too big for my britches, but here goes. I have been a devout Dolphins fan all of my life (37 yrs). I pay attention to every play of every game. I have been talking about Ricky Williams being the feature back for weeks now. I expressed it as soon as I joined this forum and expressed it on other forums. My arguement was that Miami would benefit from Ricky running the ball 20-25 times a game. This would allow Henne to settle in and pass the ball more effectively. THIS is exactly what happened tonight against the Panthers. Sadly it took Ronnie to get injured for this to happen. I am way more optimstic about the rest of the season now.

It's definitely a point worth discussing. This is what happens when you give a guy like Ricky Williams plenty of carries. The defense gets worn down and you get a big run when you need it most. In the 4th quarter. I have no doubt Ronnie could have similar production. Ronnie and Ricky are both bruising backs. The more carries you give them, the more they get into a rhythm and wear down a defense.

The problem is, you work a RB like that for too long and the wheels fall off. So it's all about finding that happy medium.

Opposing defenses don't want any part of Ricky by the fourth quarter after he has been punching them in the mouth all day. The wheels didn't fall off of Ricky the year he set Dolphins record with over 1,800 yards.

Hilliard had some nice snaps out there too, especially while our line was healthy, not so much towards the end, but they were getting some great penetration in on his runs.

We've seriously got probably the best depth at RB in the league. Thank god we do, because losing Cobbs and Brown would have spelled serious trouble if we didn't have Williams and Hilliard to back them up. Lets hope Hilliard has the skills that warrant us to keep him until Ricky retires. He definitely showed that when he's presented with some room he can do something with it :)

No worries about being new here CO, pony up an avatar and enjoy the company.

As for RW...keep in mind he still can play, the problem is his recovery time, we need Lexxy to step up and take some carries to keep RW fresh for the next 6 games.

Yes but it also could have been done with just less far less WC its a foolproof plan if we play like we can with Henne. the WC should be 3-4 times a game thing

That 3rd and 16 first down by Lex was HUUUUUGGE!

The Camp who preached that the wildcat was holding our offense back a little will be out in full force for at least the next 10 days. This performance gave them a lot of ammo.

I, for one, sort of agree. Henne can make plays man. I like him being out there on every play behind center. Little by little teams are gonna start to fear these 15 and 20 yard downfield throws that he can make consistently which will help out our base run offense

I have been saying this all year. Ricky and Ronnie, although very similar, are ironically very different. Both are big guys but Ronnie dances way too much for a big guy instead of just hittin the hole full speed. Ricky is more of a pure running back whereas Ronnie is more versatile because he can throw. With that said, I'd rather have our running backs run the ball and our quarterbacks throw the ball.
