I have DSL Internet with Verizon and I had cable before and it takes forever for me to DL anything. I took over 4 hours (went to bed while it was down loading) to DL GoW3 demo. And this seems to be common for me with any DL. Is this common or do I need to adjust something in my settings or am I just going to have to live with it?

I'm also running comcast and I never really have any problems especially on a wired connection.

Although I was reading an article today about comcast and other ISPs who target people who use what they consider excessive bandwidth. They determine this by area etc and the best way to understand it is reading this article.

Not sure if this could be your problem but if it is its not your fault and I'm surprised Comcast hasn't done something to me since I game online a bit. BTW this topic is up for debate right now (what rights should ISP companies have about restricting bandwidth , access to sites, etc) in DC and I actually hope the government steps in on this and stops ISPs from doing this.

I wonder if I direct wired the two instead of going over wifi if that would improve my DL times. The two devices are only 3 feet apart at the most but if they were connected direct maybe that would help. What do you guys think or am I barking up the wrong tree?

This is surprising considering how many people play games online or stream movies. I stream stuff with Netflix all the time. I think it probably has to be a pretty excessive amount of bandwidth being used.

I think the article says about 70% in your area or something like that. Normally that seems fine but in a rural area that could actually happen.

Its nothing to be scared about really but its still complete BS.

my opinion doesnt really count here coz im the UK but i run my PS3 wireless and get around 2 mbps. One thing that affects us over though is the traffic in the evening. it can go right down to 250kbps so i start my dl's in the morning and when i come back i dont have to sit round like a lemon staring at the dl bar going from 1% to 2% in ten minutes. painful! you guys prob have way better internet over there than us paupers in UK!!
