It has been a long time since you swept us, but you did it this year. Congrats! No more talk of TGJ as a crappy punt returner, that is for sure. While your offense and defense might have been sputtering, you made the plays on special teams to get the job done. I love how it was a 180 degree different game from the last one. A few thoughts: - The recipe for stopping the wildcat is now available online - We finally got to Chad Henne - Jason Taylor still has something left in the tank - TGJ can return balls (still is pretty bad at WR, but there is hope). - This one is a "Stats don't matter" game. - If I never see the Jets go for 2 again, it will be too soon Good stuff... keep it up and go beat the snot out of the Pats! BZ
Good game to you as well. We all enjoy having you around here no matter which one of ours team gets the win. Good luck the rest of the way to you sir.
It was a great game, especially the second half! Dolphins-Jet series is probably going to be the best of the Division series game
The recipe for defeating the wildcat has been available for some time. The problem for opposing teams is having the athletes to pull it off. Baltimore had them last year. Jets, Saints have them this year. It's the same with the Pats offense. It can be beat (see NYG), but you have to have the athletes to do it.
They sure shut down that run, you were right about that. I think everybody knows 'how' to stop the wildcat. I just dont' think a lot of teams have the personnel to effectively execute the plan. I don't think there's any special scheme, it's just a matter of people winning their battles at the line.
BZ, Without you, that entire organization would be full of witless maladroits. Mucho respect for you sir For the record, Ginn's returns were both on kickoff not punts
Thanks for the classy post. I wish more were like you but I guess there are bad fans on all sides. Thanks for the good wishes..and I hope I can pick your brain for a second if you do not mind. I am 43yrs old and born in Brooklyn and raised mostly on Long Island. I have been a Dolphin fan in the heart of Jet Nation my whole life. So I am no stranger to the back and forth between fans of both teams. I have witnessed Richard Todd to Jerome Barkum at Shea..The Sack Exchange..The Mud Bowl..No Announcer Game..Fake Spike..you name it..so when I tell you that for the life of me..this Jet team..with this Coach..has to be the MOST DISLIKED and outwardly classless team I have witnessed in all the years I have watched Football. I am not talking smack..I always hated the Jets but you always had a healthy respect for the way they competed and acted. Even Mark Gastineau looks like a loveable guy compared to some of the guys on this team. My question to you..as a Jet fan..as a guy who obviously has seen this team over the years...Do you see it? Do you get embarassed by how they have acted after games they lost? How they have shown NO RESPECT to almost anyone?. How Ryan has acted since Day 1? How Pace and Scott have acted? Even Kerry Rhodes who I thought was a top notch football player and guy has changed his act under Ryan. You have to start and see how these Jets are looked at around the League these days. You see it on TV..Radio Shows..Message Boards...Does it bother you? Do you shake your head? Again..I am just trying to understand a Jet fans perspective. Again...thanks for being a stand up guy..
Thanks BZ. I do have to disagree with one point you made and I've heard others say it as well; The Wildcat was stopped today, but it is not dead and there is no blueprint for shutting it down. You guys sold out to stop the run, and we couldn't make you pay in the passing game. Coming into this season everyone said the same thing about the WC because the Ravens stuffed it. The coaching staff will make adjustments. Also, not everyone has the personnel to match up against it like you guys do.
There really is no secret to stopping the wildcat, you stop it the same way you stop an I-Form play. Its not going anywhere Good game though and classy post BZ.
BZ, classy. I'll say this though: The Blueprint to stop the WC May be there, but we don't face another opponent with the personnel to stop it until week 17.
The WC still comes down to execution. If our OL blocks well then the inside run is still there. Sending the corners just negates the sweep (most of the time). If the WC evolves as we expect then the quick pass is the obvious counter. I agree about the going for two, by both teams. The Jets had to go for two at the end but the other attempts were bad ideas. You guys definitely got to Henne. I put it half on Henne and half on the play calls. JT is a beast. I expect you'll be happy when he retires. The stats thing is being over played a bit. STs yards and points count as do defensive TDs. If you add in those yards it was a close game with Dolphins slightly ahead, just like the score. Anyway, Good game! I think we still need a few more sweeps to even up the all-time records against you guys.
Exactly!! Just because you have the recipe doesn't mean you have the ingredients or that you can cook.
Hey thank you for the classy post. Yesterday your team put up a good fight and gave our Fins a hard time. It was a great gameplan by your team.It was an exciting game that adds to our teams classic rivalry. It looks like there were no major injuries either so that is always good.Once again, thanks for being classy and congratulating us.
