Not that it matters but what do you all think our record would be if we signed sharper over wilson. The guy has six picks and 3 tds.Wilson might not have a pick all year the way he covers.

My mistake on the grammer. This is not fantasy football question, the trifecta signed two strong safeties for big money when sharper was out there for the taking.

Obviously Sharper is having an outstanding season so far, but nobody, and I mean NOBODY had any idea he would have this much left in the tank.

Obviously having a true FS would do us loads of good right now.

Have to hope that the Culver can quickly develop into that type of player.

One thing to remember about Sharper is he has very few years left. We are not only building the present, but the future as well

hmm.not sure.would he be able to teach the other 10 guys to wrap-up and tackle at the waist instead of the shoulderpads? yes wilson has been a liability in coverage, yes it takes him 20 yards to pattycake someone out of bounds and yes we extremely over-paid when there was someone better at that point but wilson has not been the sole reason we are losing games from a defensive wannstache.

Sharper could have been a great teacher for clemons who I happen to think is the future.
Free saftey play has been horrible so far this year and I do not see it getting any better as long as wilson is on the field.Pat kirwan said during training camp the phins are going to have problems at safety this year.I guess he is a prophet.

He also has 317 yards on those interceptions...our wide receivers dont even come close to that number never mind anyone on defense

I am not sure he can tackle but I know he is not a step late on every long pass that wilson is.I think if we had him the phins beat the saints and the colts. At worst we are 4-2.

We should have signed Gregg Williams, not Darren Sharper.

I will take both, I love greg williams as a defensive cord.
For the small amount of time are defence is on the field every game our defence should not be ranked 19th against the pass.If we had no running game to chew up the clock we would be dead last in pass defence, well maybe a little better than the titans.

On fox sports they have the dolphins #19 at 233.ypg.You have to go by ypg because not everybody had their bye yet.
Here are some numbers to show how bad our defense has played. These are phins offensive numbers
Time of possession #2 34.03 minutes pg
    first downs #6 21.2 pg
Red zone scores #2 2.3 pg
    3rd down conv #1 8.3 pg
    scoring offensive #11 24.3 pg
offensive plays per game #3 69.9 pg
    rushing offense #2 170.3ypg
These are superbowl team numbers not a team that is 2-4.
Here are some defensive numbers that shows how bad our safeties have been.
Opponent pass attempts per game #7 30.0 PG
Completions per game #6 17.0 pg
Here is the killer stat that has destroyed the season yard per completion #32 14.0 ypc
That is worse than the titans.Gibril wilson is the worst free safety in the league.

    it is what it is
we didn't & probably shouldn't of signed him
it is an indication on where the FrontOffice
sees us presently: not yet S/B contenders

The front office is not perfect as wilson was a huge mistake. It really isn't wilsons fault though as he is playing out of postion.I am not sure why they thought he could become a productive free safety back there.I am convinced we would be a playoff team with sharper back there as the last line of defence.
We could really use some experience back there now with the rookie corners forced into full time action.

    Good point.

And, I think you are right about Sharper. While no one could predict how good Sharper would be - nor could they predict how good Gibril Wilson would be. I've always liked Sharper and he is a veteran who still had 5 PD's last year and would have been a great teacher of our young DB's. The guy has been an underrated but great pass defense safety. The guy has been a proven player.

How well he would have fit within our system - I don't know. But, I'd take him this year over Wilson by far.

I wonder what our record would be if we signed Brees a couple years back instead of Culpepper?

How about if we would have drafted Bowe instead of Teddy?

If we would have drafted Bowe AND signed Brees would we have been 1-15 and would CamCam still be our head coach?

I was thinking the same thing. What would have happened if the resigned Hill and Goodman? Denver might not be as good for one thing.
