It's nice to see that Booker will not be grounded for the start of next season. What a bunch of boobs we had running the show last year.
Great read, man its getting me pumped up, and I like this guy already, He likes my son David. I believe you guys will see he will suprise at TE.
Yea I can not believe it either but it could work. I like what he is saying about our young player and I am glad Ted Ginn Jr is looking good and Lorenzo Booker will be used hiim and Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams should be great back field. I am glad to here that John Beck is looking good
Nice article, thanks for the link. Interesting comments about liking our players at CB and TE, sounds like pure smokescreen to me. JMHO
Hay now stay away from my boy, he just didn't get used properly last year. I'll just say, we'll let his play this season do the talking.....
thats a great article. thanks for sharing. Its about time we heard something from our organization about the current state of the team/roster. personally... this was my favorite part... that just makes me excited already! sounds like we might actually try and get ginn and booker the ball this year. I cant wait, those guys are going to be great playmakers for us. I can just feel it!
I have a hard time understanding how you guys can believe any of this. It is draft time folks. Anyone notice how after all this time Sparano finally comes out and does not only makes a statement about the team but spills his freakin' guts. There is a reason for this everyone. They are putting 31 other GM's on their ear. A small mob of media gather around Sparano and Parcells grins. This was planned.
It;s nice to see that it states that Soprano is evaluating the tem.. Is there anyone else out there who thinks he not the one really evaluating the team in whole...? Perhaps BP is still pulling the strings IMO
That doesnt make much sense regarding Ginn and Booker. Were definately set at RB. So comments like this about booker, brown and williams are going to be ignored by most other GM's. draft time or not. The backfield is set. Making a comment on Ginn and his development also, really has no bearing on this draft either IMO. I can see your point regarding some of the other positions and players mentioned in the article. But if your point was directed at me referencing the part about Ginn and Booker... I dont buy it one bit. But in general about the rest of the roster, yeah your point is well taken regarding some of the players mentioned. However that still doesnt change the fact that its finally nice to hear someone in this organization make some comments about some of the guys on our roster.
It was stated that Ginn could eventually be a #1. Which no doubt he could be. He raved him up. Also touched on Wilford being a guy they like. Leads me to believe they are putting it out there that they won't be looking for a WR. They very well could be. The running back position is not set IMO. They make it sound that way but it is not. They could very well be in the market for a rb in this draft. It is nice to see talk about the roster from the team though even if it has an agenda.
I just hope he gets the young guys involved. Why did Ran/Cam even draft Ginn and Booker? To be a playmaker? Its hard to make a play sitting on the bench .... Im liking sparano. I think in todays NFL, indeed ANY professional sport, the key to being the head coach is player relationships. Cam was an X-O guy and really good at that, but he totally and utterly lost his team. Thats why we went 1-15. Tony seems to be in charge of the situation, evaluating people and putting them in the best position to succeed and make plays. Thats how we will get good players on the team, and thats how you start putting the Ls in the W column.
"At tight end, Sparano said, ''I really like David Martin -- he's a big, athletic player. " I suppose he's not wrong with this statement, but he forgot to mention the inconsistent hands, poor attempts at blocking, his problems getting separation, and he gets injured a lot when he hits the ground. The only good thing I saw from him was his ability to find the openings against zone defenses. Nevertheless, an upgrade at TE would certainly not be unreasonable.
I watched Sparano's press conference last night on miamidolphins.com, there were a few questions I would have liked to have seen answered: Is Vernon Carey better suited for Left or Right Tackle? Of the players we've acquired this offseason via trade or free agency, which one are you most excited to see when the pads come on? You said before that you make the system fit the players, not the players fit the system. When training camp rolls around, is it possible that you go into it with one system in mind but yet change the system as training camp progresses?
What he said about David Martin is true, the problem is, as you point out, he cannot block to save his Qb's life. If he sticks, he could get Beck or McCown killed.
Keep in mind that there are MANY versions of the 3-4 just as there are of the 4-3. Some teams run several versions of each scheme. I suspect based on staff hirings we will be one of those teams. Guys that say this guy or that guy - such as Chris Long or Matt Roth can't play DE in a 3-4 are showing their lack of scheme knowledge. Those guys are prime DE's in certain 3-4 schemes. Some of those schemes are change of pace schemes and others have a run or pass stop emphasis. Nowadays teams on the higher levels pretty much specialize towards the down and distance, which almost means they can do anything they want based on the game situation.
I am sure he is pissed as Parcells knows all his video taping tricks and he wont be able to film us anymore. Back on topic. It is hard to say if this is real or smoke, but if real I like his enthusiasm for this team. If we can get Lo Book more touches and increase Ginn's role then we will have some firepower on Offense, especially with RB and RW back there too. Wilford could be a good steadying influence too.
