There's no denying that Speed helps a lot, but when all a guy has is speed, he's useless. A guy with only speed is Yamon Figurs, Rosco Parrish, Josh Cribbs, dominik hixon.....and Ted Ginn is turning into those guys (or always has been one of those guys). Notice a trend....all of which are ST only players.
If Ginn doesn't pick up his game, he's gonna find himself on the inactive list. And you're putting to much value on his speed....he's just too lacking in all other areas for him to ever be much of a consistent threat. And consistency beats the hell out of what little Ginn has to offers us..... Hartline looks like a much better WR prospect and I expect that Ginn will soon begin to get mostly fazed out of the passing game.
Ted Ginn vs Hartline POLL I'm sorry I know there's another thread on this but this is different. This is just a poll on who you want to start next week. Ted Ginn or Brian Hartline. Add your input if you want. I think Hartline is more physical, has better hands, runs better routes, and has more POTENTIAL than Ted Ginn. Hartline has shown quite a bit in his short time and I think the kid could turn out to be very solid. Being a very good #2 receiver in the future sounds very realistic to me. Ted Ginn is garbage. For every great play he makes 5 bad ones. One of the most frustrating players to watch in the history of me watching the Dolphins. (1996)
i do want him to start, opposite ginn with camarillo in the slot. what i dont want is to go back to having a receiver set that couldnt win a senior olympics relay race
Ginn has a very good track record against the Jets. Why would we bench him against the one team he has consistent success?
If Ginn leaves the game everyone suffers. What needs to happen can't happen this season. We need someone with speed to stretch the field but the consistancy to make plays throughout a game. Taking Ginn out will NOT make us better. Replacing him with another player that a defense must respect would....but taking him out will just cause us to run less effectively, and pass the ball less effectively to other receivers.
Ginn may be replaced but it wont be by a receiver who runs a 4.6 or 4.5. Until we have a speed guy to replace Ginn, Ginn starts. If we get Gilyard next year I could see us getting rid of Ginn but we arent benching Ginn for a possession receiver
I could see Hartline eating Revis' lunch in a full game as a starter. Maybe 6 catches for 175 yards and 2 TDs?
Regardless of that Jets game. Ginn scares no one.....you guys act as tho DB's are forced to respect him and his speed. They don't.....they're more than happy to risk a big play on occasion and happy that the Dolphins are willing to keep him on the field. Ted Ginn has never, nor will he ever keep defenses from stacking against the run......his speed is needed a lot less than we need someone that can make plays.
i could see hartline having a good day aginst lowery or shephard but not revis. just dont think he has the athleticism. i would rather have ginn keep revis occupied deep and have hartline and camarillo eat up the intermediate and short stuff against inferior DBs
You know what, go ahead. Please, by all means, bench Ted Ginn against the Jets. I would love nothing more than to see Brian Hartline go up against Revis all his lonesome. Honestly, while I do believe Ted Ginn deserves the criticism, it's very nonplussing to me that there have been no less than 3 or 4 threads criticizing Ginn and yet absolutely ZERO threads getting on the defense.
I see the safety to Ginns side playing the deep zone nearly every play. So I'm not sure how you can dispute it.
2 for 57 game 1......2009 2 for 71 game 2 .....2008 2 for 17 game 1......2008 1 for 15 game 1......2007 3 for 19 game 2......2007 Don't know if I would call those numbers success. The Ginn experiment is over.....and rightfully so.
I'm wishing for Ginn to gain some hands (i know long shot) before wishing him off the team right now with a guy who did run 80 yards but did get caught from behind.
Ted Ginn just torched Revis 2 games ago. Hartline would have made Revis cry to his mommy on his cell phone after the game like a 3rd grade school girl. Yeah, I HATE the jests. But I think Darrelle Revis would have been Parcells' draft pick instead of Ronnie Brown n '07. I really think Revis is a shut-down CB. All of the best players have bad games here and there. But, I am totally happy with our choice, Ronnie Brown.
I can dispute it because now the pro-Ginn argument has withered down to "he's just too valuable as a decoy" The best thing that can happen is for Ginn's snaps to be scaled back in favor of Hartline....Ted Ginn is officially.........a bust.
noone is making a pro Ginn argument. would there be a slower starting receiver combo IN THE nfl than camarillo and hartline? there's a reason speed is valued and knee jerk reactions just dont make any sense. like i said if you're going to punish ginn, do it against the patriots where you might get away with it. you would be laughed out of the stadium if you benched Ginn after he lit up Revis for a TD
I voted for Hartline only because I want to see more of him, but I still want to see if Ginn can bounce back, I have my doubts but I keep hoping.
Hartline had 3 catches for around 96 yards yesterday. Give him a shot, it's not like it could get any worse. Get it to camarillo more too. Hell let's try patrick turner also.
He doesn't have to be benched.....but unless he's out there for running a deep route, he's basically useless. Unlike Hartline, who has shown he can make plays...
against number two CBs and safeties which is where he belongs. the game is all about matchups and hartline on lito shephard is a matchup we can win. hartline on revis is a loss
Anything that reminds me of Cam Cameron and Nick Saban makes me cringe. At least we got Brown during Saban's time. He's still an ******* though.
Know what bench him and play Hartline. Everyone gets so caught up in statistical value that they only look at stats and not the reason behind them, let's see if ANYONE on the team is effective without any kind of a deep threat. I KNOW I'm right. It's not pro-Ginn it's called STRATEGY. You cant just say a guy does X in situation A so he will do X in situation B. Football does NOT work that way whatsoever. It's not my fault people overlook the value of manipulating a defense. So I'll stop talking about it.
Strategy? Your idea of strategy is to keep playing a guy that has helped gift wrap two wins for teams we should have beat....Ted Ginn has become a liability on the field. We can use him for situational purposes, but his days as a featured WR in this league are done..... that ridiculous experiment ended Sunday.
I don't know if this was said but he was activated to play vs the Saints. He just played Special Teams. Because of the injuries, he might get a shot to play. You never know.
