I don't know, it hit the receiver square in the hand. I'm not saying it was a good throw or that it should have been caught or anything, but he tipped it UP which is a huge nono as a receiver. You have to tip it DOWN if you don't think you can catch it. It wasn't a good throw but it wasnt one that makes you shake your head.
Man I don't like the way I feel about this game so far. I don't know why. It just feels like one of those games that we should win but our own mistakes will cost us. I hope I'm wrong.
I don't like how we've gotten away from the deep pass. Our receivers are so athletic, let them get out there and run. We're in complete control of the game IMO I'm not worried at all yet, I just think we should be scoring more.
That was the perfect opportunity, but no PI? There's got to be a reason why Hankerson couldn't get his other hand up...
Playing receiver I learned that if you dont act like you are mad you got interfered with, you won't get that call unless it is horribly blatant. Sad but true.
I hate how even if you call the time out WAY after the delay of game the refs will let you have it instead of the penalty. It's like some unwritten rule.
If we don't answer then we're in big trouble. The defense is playing bend but don't break, but now they're breaking. Long drives for Clemson on pretty much every possession. Offense has to put up now.
And this is the part where our season takes a turn. Whipple is walking off the field cursing the CRAP out of Randy Shannon. Either we have an Oklahoma like second half or we can kiss our BCS hopes goodbye. Very disappointing end to the half. After the bone head decision to kick it to Spiller, Cooper sets us up perfectly and Jimmy Graham can't locate the ball in the air to what would have been a sure TD. Then of course Jacory just tosses one up instead of at least playing for 3. Ah, man. I don't get it. I had a feeling this game would be like this, despite the "inferior" opponent.
No PI???? These refs are killing us. EDIT: Finally a PI! Clemson DB's have been grabbing and holding down field all game.
Way, way, WAY too many penalties to expect to win the game. Clemson's got a great defense and can move the ball. That loss really sucked.
True. Clemson has some good Defensive players and they match up well with Miami in a lot of areas. Doesn't help that Miami has, what, 5 Defensive Linemen out for the season?
No. I'm guessing around seventeen. Agreed on Clemson. They've got a top five pick (DE), a top 45 pick (DE) and a quality defensive tackle anchoring their defensive line.
Yeah, that hurts a lot. Kinda like the Jacksonville Jaguars last year with their entire O' line out for the year. Hopefully we can get a little more prepared to make things work with all those guys out, or it's going to be a long season.
Pretty much the game was lost because of not trusting Jacory to throw in that third and short to put the game away. Also that they didn't call a single hold on Clemson all day when it was blatant was bad.
Knew this was coming. Pass defense has been bad all year. Finally bit them in the ***. Jacory's multiple picks every game don't help either, nor does a depleted D-Line. However, this is a very young team and will get better in time. So long as Whipple's calling the plays next year, Harris will be a Heisman candidate. As for the secondary, there's tons of talent there between Harris, Armstrong, and Telemaque all SO's and FR's. Sean Spence is a Freshman. Our top 3 wideouts are sophomores. Cooper and Berry hopefully return next year, and Mike James is only a Freshman and I think he'll be a good one. The core of this team is very young, and I think the offense is going to be amazing next year. Hopefully our secondary plays to their potential.
Please no-one blame the secondary at all for this. I don't care if you have Champ Baily, Nnamdi Asomugha, Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu playing against college kids. They would have looked like crap too if they had to play with a team that didn't blitz and couldnt get pressure with the front four.
The secondary has been bad all year long. Obviously getting no pressure makes the secondary look worse, but alot of it is the fact they have shown their youth.
I'm not sure what you mean by all year long. Our only "bad" games were against FSU and today against Clemson. I'd say VT but honestly a fumble and blocked punt beat us that day.
