It would not be grasping at straws. The Boston trade a few years back was grasping at straws.

It's not like Bowe has never produced, and we think he will turn it around here.

He has produced since his rookie season, and has been consistently impressive on a bad team.

We are REBUILDING from the bottom up(if you haven't noticed).
We are NOT on the cusp of greatness either,so why go get Bowe,or any WR at this moment? Henne started one, count it ONE game.Do you think Bowe is the missing link to a superbowl title this year? Do you really think we are that good? Stop drinking the koolaid
Can you tell me for sure what those draft picks might bring us in the future?
We have a plan to get to the SB ,and it's NOT giving away future draft picks.
As fo Anquan,we had our chance and the dummies didn't draft him. With T.O, he did fall out of a tree and if Parcells wanted him,he would have gotten him after last season.
That's the way i see it............

Man if you thought Ted Ginn's drops were bad....

To be honest I would like to keep our draft picks but if Bowe can be that number 1 receiver then would it be that steep?

Henne has started two games for the record.

Also, Bowe isn't in the last year of his contract, so he doesn't have to be the missing piece to a super bowl this year.

If a team is giving away a great young stud WR in a fire sale, someone has to take the opportunity. It doesn't mean we are doing this because we are planning on a Superbowl run this year.

This is a great chance to improve the team for years.

I can see where you're coming from 54, but I don't think getting Bowe would be any sort of statement from the front office saying we are superbowl bound this year.

The way I look at it, is its getting a proven WR who just turned 25? As opposed to risking a pick in the 1st or 2nd round for a WR that is unproven. Sure there is a chance that, that 1st or 2nd round WR pick next draft could turn out to be Jerry Rice, but its just a matter of probability in my opinion.

I think most people won't argue the fact we need a #1 receiver, why not get what is practically a guarantee #1?

I'm guessing we would be giving up a player as well. I'm thinking the Chiefs would want Bess.

I was thinking more along the defensive front. Matt Roth makes the most sense. However, you have to think a re-building team like KC is more interested in draft picks at this point.

A 2nd and Roth for Bowe (and maybe the pick we got for Alleman/Ndukwe) might be tempting though. :shifty:

I would be sad to see him go, but I think Cam can do pretty much everything Bess can. Aside from height and a tiny bit of shakes, they are very much the same player IMO. And unlike Bess, Cam isn't as limited to the slot role.

I actually think it would be possible to flip Ginn and Camarillo back and forth in the #2 and slot roles. They both would instantly have more opportunities to get open if Bowe were added.

I'm still not advocating this course of action outright, but I can definitely see its attractiveness.

Bess averages less than 10 yards a catch. I doubt we would miss him. He has 35 yards in the past two games. If we had Bowe there would be no need for him.

    I hear ya'.

I see teams like the Pats giving away wasted and overrated players for higher than usual draft picks all the time.It wins them Championships and keeps them competitive throughout the years.
This is a formula for winning in this league. For example, didn't they get Moss from Oakland for a 4th? What did they get for Seymore? a 1st,I think?
That's what I want to see from our team. If,and I say if we get Bowe, this needs to be the steal of the year for me to be convinced it was worth it.

Also, noone seemed to mention that Henne was 20-26 against the Jets with the same receivers Penny had.He puts the ball through windows that Penny couldn't.That might say to me that our WR's are not that bad after all.Yet,that is still something that we need to keep an eye on.

While this is all speculation, it is something to talk about, so I will keep going with it.

    Now-
    1. Ginn
    2. Cam
    3. Bess
    4. Hartline

    If the trade happened-
    1. Bowe
    2. Ginn
    3. Cam
    4. Hartline

I'm seeing an upgrade (IMO) at the top 3 WR spots if this trade happens.

BTW, who says that the Chiefs aren't asking for more than a 2 and a 4? More like a 1st and a 3rd sounds right (or a 1st and Roth). I would do neither, for the record....

The playbook in Cleveland is very similar to the one in New York. 70% of it actually is the same. What Edwards had to learn was mostly the snap count, chemistry and the tweaks that they have in their routes in NY.

That was my reaction, too. I guess a start against the Bills doesn't count? Maybe he counts it as a practice game.

Hey I like both Cam and Bess, and like someone else mentioned they are very similar. Except for the fact that Bess is a little younger, quicker, and faster.

As far as stats goes, you have to really put into account that Bess probably hasn't been thrown at the last 2 games as much as Cam. But every time the ball is thrown to Bess he makes the catch, and the kid always plays hard, even when when the game was basically done, I think it was the San Diego game.

They're both good players, but if I had to choose I would take Bess for some the reasons above. JMO

Bowe is 25 years OLD! Getting him is part of the rebuilding process.

We're not getting a 36 year old Terrell Owens here man. Your post makes it sound like it though.

You get Bowe and you check #1 WR off your to do in the rebuilding process list for at least 5-7 years. You draft a WR in the first round and your potentially looking at a repeat of the Ted Ginn situation 3 years from now.

    That leaves:
    Safeties
    MLBs
DT (and we have a top 5 run Defense)

Not that long of a to do list after getting Bowe.

Call it a rebuilding process all you want. This isn't the Detroit Lions or 2007 Dolphins you're talking about. We're not as far away as you think.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Single wing, Wildcat. Shall I go on? It's still 11 on 11. Only thing that has changed is the players are bigger and faster. Football is trending back to its roots if the Dolphins have success.
