I was looking at our projected strength of schedule and noticed how freaking tough the Vikings schedule is the rest of the way. Ours looks MUCH easier than theirs does now, IMO. Miami was ranked #1 going from the 2008 W-L records. Minny was ranked #31. Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=4027503 Our remaining schedule: Week 6: BYE Week 7: Saints in Miami Week 8: @ NYJ Week 9: @ NE Week 10: Tampa Bay in Miami Week 11: @ Carolina Week 12: @ Buffalo Week 13: NE in Miami Week 14: @ Jaguars Week 15: @ Titans Week 16: Texans in Miami (GUARANTEE WE WIN THIS TIME!) Week 17: Steelers in Miami (GULP...at least we are at home) Vikings remaining schedule: Week 6: Ravens @ home Week 7: @ Steelers Week 8: @ Packers Week 9: BYE (They will need it by then...) Week 10: Lions @ home Week 11: Seahawks @ home Week 12: Bears @ home Week 13: @ Cardinals Week 14: Bengals @ home Week 15: @ Panthers Week 16: @ Bears Week 17: Giants @ home (Just as bad as our week 17 Steelers home game) IDK, I think that Vikings schedule looks pretty scary if I was a fan. Who has the tougest schedule the rest of the way?
this is why strength of schedule based on last year means absolutely nothing. they have no true way of knowing how a team will do the following year. take Tenn and Carolina as perfect examples. I believe they were 11-5 and 12-4 last year. This year...not looking so good.
No, i don't think that it means absolutely nothing. But it is a pretty fair representation of how hard your season will be. Problem is, too many people take it as the end all be all truth of the matter instead of taking it at what it is, a prediction. I think that teams being able to gage how hard their season helps for them to prepare their team better, or motivate them more, in the offseason.
agree with this part. A prediction is just that. and nothing more. If you look at the schedules now, do you think Miamis would still be #1? But as far as a team preparing better because of last years record? I doubt it. They have film to prepare with. whether they were 12-4 or 4-12.
The Vikings have already played the Browns, Lions, and Rams. If you replace Indy and Atlanta from our schedule with Detroit and St Louis, we'd be 4-1. Our schedule is tough from start to finish. The Vikings season didn't start until week 4.
well that further proves my point. No one could have predicted the Browns would be THIS bad. Rams too. Not saying our sched. isnt tough. Just saying that as of today, It certainly doesnt look as tough as it did when it came out in the offseason. JMO.
This. Preseason predictions based on schedules is pointless. Good teams do bad, bad teams do good. It happens every year.
The Steelers went through a tough schedule like ours and won the Super Bowl with an 11-5 record in 2005. If anything playing through a difficult schedule like that toughened them up. Maybe it will do the same for us this season?
Why would the Steelers worry us Week 17? They will problably already be in the playoffs and have nothing to really play for while we may still be fighting for our lives and odds are at home we will win. The games that worry me are the next 3 games Saints, at Jets, at Pats. If we can win 2 of those man I can see us going 7-1 down that last stretch or better. I still feel that 11-5 or 10-6 is our destiny this year.
this year looks different, they have cincy in the division an denver and indy are 5-0 at the moment, looks like they have to play till the end, i don“t care really anyways give them to me at home at full strength, also i believe the vikings will play a giants team in week 17 that is done already
I'm not so sure the Steelers will have anything locked up at the end of the season. They are currently tied with Baltimore and looking up at the Bengals.
