I like our uniforms. Nice and simple. How many is that now, like 4 different unis? Home, away, the red and these. **** just hit a walk off HR as I was typing this. At least I have Zimmerman on one of my fantasy teams.
Eh i doubt it. theres just a lot more smack between the mets and phils. Personally I know I am far more concerned about ATL then Philthy.
Moylan pitched very well last year, but was a middle relief/setup guy and didn't get alot of credit for it.
it's all about the merchandising baby... gotta keep them cash registers ringing. plus i like the red for a change of pace on sunday home games. plus the hat they wear with those sundau red uni's, with the tomahawk thru the letter "A," is killer too.
side note; the Nats stadium is pretty killer. ESPN.com had a video tour posted earlier of it. i will be going to a game or two there this summer, trying to steer my yearly trip up to see the in-laws for a time the Braves are in town. plus i am taking the wife and kids to the Ted in April to see Andruw Jones and the Dodgers for a couple games.
here is an article from the Braves web site about the navy Uni's; http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/news/...t_id=2467269&vkey=news_atl&fext=.jsp&c_id=atl "WASHINGTON -- The Braves surprised their players by presenting them the team's new alternate jerseys just before the start of Sunday night's season opener against the Nationals at new Nationals Park. After meeting with President George W. Bush, Braves players returned to their lockers to find the new blue-on-blue jerseys. The matching hats were navy blue with the club's white scripted "A" on the front. With their regular gray road pants, the Braves wore the new uniform tops for Sunday night's game. They plan to occasionally don this uniform mix for road games this year."
yeah i really like the new ballpark you can see the capital from the stadium my favorite stadium outside yankee stadium of course is the pirates that is a beautiful stadium
That was a good game tonight, even though it was a tough loss. Zimmerman hit that walk-off homer in almost exactly the same spot Chipper hit his earlier. Not sure where that pitch was supposed to go but Moylan served it up on a tee for him basically. Hudson was outstanding after the 1st for those of you who didn't watch. He was only at about 80 pitches after 7, he probably could have pitched longer.
Hudson pitched great. I like the new alternate road jersey but not a big fan of the hat. Looks too much like the Yankees/Tigers hat to me. Nothing beats the home white uniforms though
yeah i didnt know what moylan tried to throw it looked almost like he tried to throw a slider but i couldnt really tell, whatever it was zimmerman made him pay but hudson after the first was as dominant as you can get which bolds well for atlanta all his pitches were low and sinking the nats couldnt touch him its a tough loss but the braves still have 161 games to go
Not a big deal, everybody pitched well aside from that one mistake from Moylan. It was just a horrible time to make the mistake. They'll be fine. I'd still like to see them win the opening series though.
i think atlanta will win the NL east i think the mets are overrated there bullpen is weak wagner is good but can be very inconsistent at times i think the phillies may have been a one hit wonder i like there offense but there pitching may let them down i am a yankee fan but i love baseball so i watch every game i can and yeah i am sure the braves would have loved to win today, i am sure when they play the nats next game they wont feel so bad when they stomp them in the ground
The Mets bullpen WAS weak. In the 140 innings from Guillermo Mota and Aaron Sele their combined era was about 5.50. If adjusted to the league average it would have saved the mets about 18 runs over the course of a season. This would be significant because many of those 18 runs were given up from the 7th inning on blowing countless leads and making small deficits worse. Now theyre gone. Even if their replacements Matt Wise and eventually Duaner Sanchez are average theyre still significantly inproved. Add to it that Johan gives you about 230 IP a year and Pedro typically allows only a baserunner an inning well thats 2 things that were not in the mets favor last year. To call a team with 4 15 game winners overrated is foolish. Only the Red Sox, a healthy Angels staff, and maybe 1-2 other teams can actually rival them. More innings from starters = less innings from relievers
yes but you have to assume pedro will stay healthy all season they are overrated, overrated doesnt mean they suck or wont make the playoffs i think they get the WC
Eh I dont agree. For the record I dont think Pedro will stay healthy all season...he'll miss his usual start here and there. BUt as long as he makes 25-30 starts thats fine. Maine is a stud, and Ollie in a contact year with Scott Boras whispering sweet nothings about improving on 15 w's/3.75 and nearly a k an inning, and being one of a handful of lefties who can throw 93-95. We agree on the top two teams in the division though just disagree on which order they will finish in.
There's no point in arguing, picking atlanta to win the East makes it clear that bran knows his baseball.
Uhm, good to see everyone is on board with the Dodgers winning everything this year, including the Superbowl.
This Fox sports guy picks the Braves to go to the World Series. A bit unusual since most think they'll be behind NY and Philly. He starts talking about Atlanta about a minute or so into the video. http://www.comcast.net/providers/fa...headline&config=/config/common/fan/sports.xml
I think it goes and don't laugh Mets Nats Braves Phills Marlins The Nats will be real good this year.
Well, if you followed baseball you would know the best team does not always win. If that was so we would give the Yanks the Championship every year.
Point is looking good on paper does not always make i the smart choice. Obviously there are other variables. I mean seriously who saw the mets not winning the division last year? I sure as hell didn't. And i follow baseball thanks..............
Well, I did not say I guarantee the Mets win the division. My post said I think. You made the remark about how objective. There are plenty of variables, I don't like the Braves pitching at all. Can they all of the sudden be good, sure. But Glavine turned into a pumpkin last year, Hampton can't get out of the shower without getting hurt, and Smoltz is hurting already. The Mets starters have a big edge, yes Martinez may go on the DL, but with Santana, Maine, Perez and Pelfrey, you don't have the injury history. Can the Braves put it together, yeah, but being objective, I believe the Mets win the division.
I just don't believe any fan can 100% say they are being objective when they say their team will be #1. Saying it is just smart thinking to me, is not taking into account what you brought up, there are other factors into a team even being #1 in the division, and that you are a fan of the team. Hampton gets hurt yes we will let him and pedro cancel each other out. Glavine had a good run before he hit the skids. I'd take it since he won't be starting every game. Tim Hudson was having a good season last year and win loss is only bad because his bullpen liked giving up games late. We have a young rising star in jurrjens who could upset some people. We have a couple more young, rising stars in the bullpen and a couple fighting for spots in the starting rotation. Not to mention our bats which were above average IMO, last year. edit: I don't think braves take the division, but I do think we will be very competitive and will be taking the wc.
0-2. That was a strange game last night. Rally for 5 runs in the 9th only to give up 3 more in the 12, almost make that up and then lose. They ran out of pitchers. Frustrating after the Pirates tried to give them the win in the 9th with 4 walks. They better get their act together.
