When you've been watching Eric Mangini and Herm Edwards for years, Rex Ryan is like a God. It's a real fire and energy and toughness to the team.

Edit: and hey, in four games, he's already matched Kotite in the W column.

I heard a rumor that Rex is pregnant (surrogate) with Al Davis's child. Can anyone verify?

 

The press conferences were the absolute best, in retrospect. Actually, they were pretty hilarious at the time, but very painful because it was my team's coach.

And the press conferences actually reflect on their coaching abilities, at least with Herm and Mangini so far.

Herm was a stumbling fool who just repeated the same, nonsensical stuff that either left you laughing or confused, and his offenses were ran basically the same way.

Then Mangini comes and you think, "A fresh new face who can possibly handle the media in a professional manner and actually make sense." And it seems to be true... at first. Then he decides instead of handling the media like Herm, or handling like a professional... he won't handle it AT ALL and be useless and ridiculous. That's how you end up getting the Favre Fine this year.

Now Rex is honest, fun, down-to-earth, and intelligent. Surely I'll be ripping him in a few years when we suck and have a new head coach. Until then, I have a hetero man crush.

Sorry but "intelligent" coaches like Tony Sparano (for example), don't call out players from a division rival before the season starts. But it really brought a smile to my face when I read the article today about how Rex is now backpedaling from his previous statements. "I was only joking...."

Sounds like someone is scared.

If you really want to judge him off one of his first press conferences as a rookie head coach, by all means, go ahead. He knows it was a mistake and isn't afraid to admit it. That's what I like. He doesn't dance around **** like that. He came out and said he was wrong. Yeah, he trash talks a lot in general, I suppose. But again, I like it. It gets the D fired up. Like the Mad Backer.

 

Actually your buddies over on the Jets message board think that Rex was justified in his actions. They all seemed to agree that it was acceptable behavior for a coach of the New York Jets.

I honestly don't mind what he said then or what he has been saying the past few weeks or is saying now. I like it. I like trash talking in sports as long as it doesn't escalate into fights and ****. It's fun and interesting. I like that the Dolphins players are answering back. I like what Crowder said about Neon Leon. It's all fun to me.

 

Actually I prefer it....if he was quiet, polite, unassuming gentleman, he'd be a lot less fun to pick on

 

He is an easy target. Put it that way.

 

A lot of people here seem laid back and having fun, but all of his posts are laced with bitter and hatred. Even in my introduction thread it was nothing but anger.

And besides, using that logic, I should be way more pissed than you as a Jets fan. And Mets.
