Is anyone else having to pay a extra $100 for HD on the Sunday ticket starting today? I'm being told that this has been this way for 3-4 years. But I've always been able to get it until today. Maybe I'm just really really tired. Thanks!
Superfan is $100. This is my first year with DirectTV, but as far as I know $100 has been the norm for the past two years at least.
I called recently to take the ticket off cause a friend down the street got it so wasn't planning on watching many games at the house. Basically she ended up giving me the ticket for less than half the normal price, and I did no haggling, everytime I said no I didn't want it, she kept dropping the price.
Shouldve held out till they were paying you money EDIT: BTW, seeing as how we keep hearing about how everybody is getting it cheaper or even free? Anybody else think they are charging WAY to much to begin with
They are probably referring to Superfan, which is usually $100-$150. There is a big thread in the Lounge somewhere, tons of people have called to cancel Sunday Ticket and ended up getting Sunday Ticket plus Superfan for $150.
I didn't see anything in their advertisements that stated that SuperFan was required to get HD broadcasts. When I found that out, I called to complain and threaten to cancel, and they gave it to me for free. From what I hear, it's DirecTV's "bargaining chip" to throw at you to keep you from canceling. But, DirecTV is not at all clear about this and I believe intentionally so. And $350 for the ticket and SuperFan is too much IMO.
i dont think i could call and complain like that. i dont know. i wouldnt feel like i was being honest
I have had Direct TV and Sunday Ticket since Day 1. I just called and told them that it has just gotten to be too Much money and I just can't afford it(the price is crazy plus $100 for the HD) I said I hated to do it but I was going to cancel. I did not raise a big stink or curse or complain. They gave me Superfan for free and took $120 of Sunday Ticket. Just call and say its too much and you are thinking of cancelling
Nice guys finish last....take ALL my money direct tv. My dumbass ends up watching the game across the street at the BW3's anyway
You don't have to really complain. Just call tell them you'd like to cancel because its getting too expensive, thats all I did.
That's what I did. I can afford it, but the way they are going it will hit $500.00 some day. (I know it wont but my point is valid)
rofl, it isn't stealing from direct tv - that company is a bunch of thieves anyway, i would never feel sorry for them. i did the same as others - i called to cancel service because i honestly could not afford the sunday ticket. they came right out of the box and dropped the price to like $150 or something for the entire season, with superfan. i could make that work. no dishonesty at all, it's just the laws of supply and demand really. they have a static cost for the service, they want to get all the money they can. basically, direct tv is saying "we'll take what you're willing to pay". that's not dishonest, that's them, as a retailer, bargaining with their product to maintain subscribership. i'm a very honest person, and this is just business.
But I have no intention of canceling. It may be business, but it's disingenuous for me to call and say I'm canceling when I've already got the thing and had plenty of notice about what it costs. Just doesn't sit right with me. Now when the time comes to renew next year, different story. I will cancel, because I don't like to be auto-renewed and the terms predetermined. If they throw me a bone, great. If not.....I'll sign up again when the season roles around. No amount of convincing is going to make me (as an example) feel any differently about it. Your conscience is your conscience.
