the throw wasnt there when it shouldve been which is when Ginn got by his defender. A good QB gets it to him when he's open and doesnt allow the defender to catch up to the throw

Damn right...if Chad actually gets any velocity on that ball Ted catches it running into the end zone instead of having to jump up with a defender tugging his jersey.

I do think he should've caught that ball, BUT, I can not blame him for this loss.

For crying out loud, how many 7 yard hitches did he catch? At what point in time are we going to take advantage of that and let him do a hitch & go / double move?

Every throw can't be perfect. When you are drafted #9 overall you make that catch. If Ginn doesn't hesitate by misjudging the ball in the endzone he makes that catch easily and taps both feet in bounds. The other one he just plain dropped.

its a hell of a lot more then every now and then that a bad throw goes towards ginn, rather he is having to come back or its just a duck. he didn't plain drop the last one he was interfered with. Does that excuse it, no. But there were other circumstances. The first one was overthrown, does that it excuse it, no. But there were other circumstances. Trying to make it sound like they were perfect passes is dishonest. They were catchable balls, yes, but how catchable, i don't think very much.

OK, I'm gonna have to call you out on that one.

How on earth did you come up with me saying those passes were perfect when I clearly said:

    With my first sentence? :pointlol:

    which you follow up with:

Given your language there, I would have to say you are putting the blame solely on ginn and nowhere else.

If you are talking about the back of the endzone pass, that pass was there, Ginn Should have caught it. He should have caught the other one too, imo.

I disagree with the comparison to Chambers. Chambers was frustrating b/c of all the drops. TG despite the debates here catches a high % of passes. He caught about the same % of passes thrown his way that Cam caught last year (in the 60s). And his catch percentage this season is on par with the top WRs (again in the 60s).

The frustration with Ginn is that he's yet to be targeted deep consistently. Since fans and media at the games keep pointing out that TG often gets behind the DBs but the ball isn't thrown I'm not sure it's fair to put the blame on Ginn.

Now this year Ginn is at least being targeted a lot more. We'll see if he he can score a few more TDs. He is currently on pace for 1000 yds.

They were more or less around the general area sure. I would say the second was definately there. The first one, no.

and, to continue what you're saying, every time he does beat a CB and the ball is thrown his way, the CB is given all the time in the world to catch up and make the play because...its from pennington...

Now Henne and White both have better arms then pennington, but heh, as white showed us in week 1, the ball isn't gonna be right on the money like Pennington.

The word from practice was that on the long pass White was actually the most accurate. White just isn't as accurate as CP on everything else. He wasn't horrible though just a bit under Henne. I just think it'll take a couple of seasons before we know what we have in White.

Yeah White was just a little excited there. His first NFL pass and all. Besides there is an old saying that if you miss a pass down the field, miss it long.

I think with the way that PI is called now-a-days that saying isn't as true as it used to be.

Well I'd still rather miss long. Unless I'm Tony Romo. Anyone see that pick he threw? Terrible. If you miss long theres a much less chance of an interception, but of course less chance to draw a penalty. Some of it depends on who you play. If Ed Reed is the safety I don't even throw long period.

I think you can throw it shorter if you have confidence that your WR will win. I can't say I have confidence that Ginn will come down with most jump balls but I do trust him to knock it down. I also think the PI calls push the odds heavily in favor of the WR. For example if White had thrown that pass short, I have no doubt that at least one of those trailing DBs would have run into Ginn.

And I agree that it's hard to feel confident that you have the advantage whenever Reed is bak there.

Can't say about Hartline but no way do i think Cam or Bess would have let that ball slip through their fingers. No matter what else you can say about those guys is they are clutch guys. They make catches.

Ginn I think would make a great wr to any team that wants to trade us a 2nd round pick for him.

Maybe. Last year Ginn and Cam had very similar catch %. That means they dropped about the same number of the passes thrown their way. I know some people believe that Ginn drops a ton and Cam catches everything but factually that's inaccurate.

I do believe Bess would have a higher catch % but he hasn't been among the leaders in targets on any list I've seen so I don't have numbers for him. However, it is reasonable to question whether Cam or Bess would have been as open deep or if Bess could have jumped as high.

So really the only basis for the belief that Cam or Bess would have made that catch is personal bias.

What clutch catches have either Cam or Bess made? (other than Cam's catch against the Ravens which didn't exactly have a high level of difficulty) And when exactly has Bess shown the ability to win a jump ball against a corner?
