My "i slept on it" thoughts

I was harping on this during and after the draft. We screwed up big time by not addressing the LB position in either the draft or via FA.

 

Our FO did address LB...they re-signed Crowder

 

That says many unflattering things about our FO.

 

We draft double. And I'm not convinced Clemons won't be our starter eventually.

 

I was thinking this all day today that next years #1 pick HAS to be an inside LB who can cover, what we have now is a complete joke.

 

Crowder can tackle but he is no machine. He is slightly above average at best.

However, if you put someone in the middle along side him that is light years better and Crowder is the perfect compliment to him.

This team has many holes. Less holes than two years ago, and much better depth but it's painfully obvious that much more is needed and most of it is on defense.

 

I'm just glad they did not give him a boat load of money and it made me think that they intend on drating a stud to go along side him next year.

Safety, Inside Lb, NT, and they best start looking at another stud to rush the passer...

Got my fingers crossed that Soliai has stepped up by the end of the season. Not needing to spend a first day pick on a NT would seriously help.

That Wilson signing will make ppl forget about Wilford, I'm afraid...

 

Solai has looked good from preseason til now IMO.

 

Im not as down on CC as some. Hes nota cover linebacker, thats for sure. But take him out of the game and we have a horrid KC line and Larry Johnson making us look like amateurs. Asking him to cover Dallas Clark 20 yards downfield is a terrible thing. Sadly, apparently so is asking Wilson and Bell. Speaking of Bell, he didnt have a good game either.

It was just a bad loss all the way around. No passrush, no deep coverage, poor tackling. Gah. Id say we need an ILB (Spikes) or FS (Berry) but we need a real WR (Benn/Bryant) too. So many holes left to fill. That Pat White pick is looking bad right now.
