The grind kills it for me. Please don't get me wrong. I don't mind moderate grinding but Geez........some games take it too damn far.

The fact that you have to pay a monthly fee for some of them.

If that isn't #1 I don't know what will be.

why is that a problem? They are continually providing you a service. Unless you want ads like "Pepsi long sword", monthly fee is the only way to make them profitable.

I would see a problem as they cost as much as a regular game when they are first purchased.

I see your point. If you enjoy this type of gameplay then it's no different than paying a monthly fee for Xbox Live. I do enjoy the social aspect but the neverending grind just doesn't kick it for me. I guess I am more of a console game guy. I like some sort of closure. If the grinding eventually leads to an end then it's all good. I just hate grinding for hours on end knowing that I will be grinding again after I accomplish what I am doing at that time. Some people enjoy it and the monthly fee is justified. To each his own.

For me Its the grind. Ive tried count;ess MMO's and Ive tried playing them I really did but after like a solid week they just bore me to the point where I uninstall it.

The only game that looks promising is upcoming KOTR game from Bioware.

I hear ya man. I have tried a few myself and just can't get into them. That was before my daughter was born a year ago. Now I have even less time to spend grinding.

FlyFF is a fun free MMO that I played for a while. It is a mix of WoW and Ragnarok online.

I would take ads over having to pay a monthly fee any day of the week.

Immersion is one of the cool parts about playing a MMO. Unless they can work it into the MMO ads would hurt it over all.

If a MMO is fun and they keep adding new content, then 15 dollars a month to play something that I play over 10 hours a month (if I am a normal person 50 hours a month) isn't bad.

Running MMO's are very expensive to do on a monthly basis.

The problem for me is that I wouldnt leave my computer for 14 hours a day when I'd get addicted to them.

I was a console gamer once. A severe console gamer. I was like Mor, if he was attractive, intelligent and smelled good. Had a moded playstation, dreamcast, and N64 all set up. I had my PS2, 4 games, 4 controllers 2 mem cards, and 4 controller extensions paid off 8 months before release and took two days off from work. Got a 360, specifically because of Oblivion.

    Then the 360 died.

My wife convinced me to play WoW. I cannot stop playing this game. Everyday. I'm as hooked on that as I am on this place. Its sad really.

Having said all that, my two biggest complaints about MMO:

    1. The people
    2. The people

Most are douche bags or have been born since I've been out of high school or both.
Why must everyone in that game be a hateful little ****? Then you have people named Boogernugget *****ing about the new patch's bastardization of the lore. "Oh really, you want to preserve the integrity of the story...Boogernugget?"

Just when I start to actually like you... I find out you're a WoW geek.

All three of my roommates have been addicted to WoW... I never started because I didn't want to spend 5-6 hours of my life each day playing that game... Seriously, nothing upset me more than saying "hey you guys wanna go out..." then they reply, "Nah, we gotta raid tonight." :pity:

I play late at night. I have never used WoW to keep from going out. So we're still good.

What was it by the way? Was it the way my butt looks in jeans or....?

That's why lucky likes you, but I don't know if I'd be proud of that... I just thought you were funny...
