i don't count the good stuff either, personally. IMO all Sean Smith showed us in preseason so far is that he can catch a one handed duck from Brunell and that he's taller than Courtney Roby. Sure it was a great play from an athletic standpoint, but it was from a washed up QB and a scrub wr. But it's preseason. Most players are out their trying not to get hurt, cause you don't get paid to perform well in preseason. You get paid to perform in the regular season. And hey, if they don't, they don't.
He showed Sparano that he should be the starter.... And many others showed Sparano that they should make the roster. The preseason isn't like rolling a couple balls down the lane to get warmed up before you bowl and keep score......it matters.
For most of the starters, that's exactly what it is. Especially when you're running the same offense from a year ago with mostly the same personnel. To them it's just another opportunity to get hurt in a meaningless game. Why do you think the Players Association wants preseason narrowed down to 2 games? Cause for the majority of the roster, the games are pointless. Sure, Rookies need to play hard and guys like Henne need to perform when they get in, but that's less than half the team. Look at what you're saying about Grove and Wilson. In your opinion, they have played bad. And yet, they're still starting. If preseason matters so much, why is that? Either Sparano and parcells don't have the guts to bench them (HA!) or maybe they know that you can't make a full assessment in preseason.
Well no one said they sucked so bad they needed to be benched.......we said their play has been disappointing given the money we spent on them and the expectations we had of seriously upgrading those positions. We spent a truck load of money on them OF COURSE we're gonna keep them out there and hope things get better... I think a few of us have made it pretty clear that our thoughts on them are based on what we have seen thus far......in fact there are Newspaper accounts saying the same thing as we are and you can bet your bottom that Sparano and company are concerned as well... I'm basing my posts on what I have seen....are you trying to tell me that Grove and Wilson have shined and we have no worries? If not, then why get so bent over it?

Don;t get me wrong, from the day of Wilson's signing I have been concerned about whether he has the range, speed and ball skills to pair well with Yeremiah against deep passes. That said, he is a league about Bryan, imo.
I think if you put the 2007 Dolphins roster for opening day next to the 2009 Dolphins roster for next week side-by-side, it would be clear which list is more talented. And the part of the organization that directly changed those names on the roster is the Front Office. Perhaps where I see the 2009 roster as vastly more talented, you don;t think they are much more talented than in 2007. I don't know. What do you think, comparatively, like2?
Well said...those two just don't seem to pair up well. On paper or thus far on the field. I liked Bryan, but way down on the depth chart....lol...I wasn't suggesting we replace Wilson with him, just making a point that he showed more ball skills during preseason. JS
Until the season actually starts, your whole argument is useless. 1) we potentially dramatically improved our CB position by not drafting a center and drafting Davis and Smith 2) you have to give an offensive line some time to gel together + Satele was a total bust (we upgraded) 3) Wilson is a wait and see. I might give you that one, but until we play real games with non-vanilla defense we see in preseason, it's ridiculous to peg him as a bust.
