Hope you don't think I was being harsh when I said to show some respect. I was pissed off too, I've made a LOT of dumb comments in game threads too. It's just our love for the team goes so deep it's hard to control.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

From the view of a Canes fan, we are over it. It's more just a joke now, we aren't bitter.

Great win for the Canes but I think you guys should take this for what it is which is a game v.s. a rival that we know very little about. I am interested to see how both teams do the rest of the season. They both need alot of work on defense and in the running game

As a Hurricane fan what I am most excited about was the fact that I never felt we couldn't win this game because of our QB or because of our playcalling. That is a huge step up from last season.

I don't think Miami ran the ball poorly, we just didn't run it very often and as the game wore on it became less effective. What I do think we need to improve on is third down offense. That could be a huge thing for us if we want to compete this season.

What needs work on defense is converging in space upon receivers on short passes, and recognition in the run game. Both of our starting DE's were out so I can live with point number two I just made. Point number one will be a huge factor against a team like Oklahoma that has weapons. It wasn't as if our corners were being beaten routinely, they were just giving a HUGE cushion to the WR's and not tackling well once they caught the ball.

Overall I agree with you, but it's hard not to be excited when you look a lot better than you did all last season in your first game.

I will never argue with that. Whether you be a Cane, Nole, or Gator its hard not to be excited when your team has a huge win.

I take it for what it is - which is, a win.

How both teams played is indicative in every way of a season-opener...elevated level of play because of the excitement, and mistakes because of rust.

Be such a wet rag when the Gators play an important game, regardless of the outcome. Then I'll believe you didn't just come in here to troll.

I don't think Skeet would troll. He's a good guy.

His point is valid. We don't know how good FSU really is, nor how good we really are. All we know is we started the season with a win. Which is great.

Very exciting game, congrats Canes fans. I expected it to be much more of a defensive battle but neither secondary really stood up resulting in a heck of a QB battle. That ending was crazy.

One of the best college games you'll ever see. This rivalry never disappoints.

    1) It's a rivalry game ANYTHING can happen

    2) FSU is a much better team than last season. I hate them, but if tonight was any indication of their season they will compete.

I don't see them getting close in that game to be honest. I think their secondary will get torn up.

I don't think they will win either. If you told me we were going to keep it close against Florida last year for 80% of the game I'd have laughed, and I think FSU is better than we were last season by a large margin.

Which comes back to the rivalry game aspect. You never know what is going to happen.

I think FSU will see a much better pass rush in that game also. I do however think there are plays to be made against the Gators secondary.

Both are probably correct. I've said for the past couple years, if you're going to beat Florida it's by throwing the deep ball.

Chad Henne, Jevan Snead and Matthew Stafford beat them because they had success on the down-field passing plays.

That said, I agree it won't be a close contest.

Meh, this is a much different defense than those examples faced and we did lead the nation in interceptions last season. I like our chances against any offense.

I agree alen. Florida's toughest game this year was the orange and blue game. They are very talented no doubt and taking nothing away from them. But do we really know how good they are now any more than we will at the end of the year? The schedule is absolutely putrid. The SEC is way overrated and has 2 decent QB's....Snead and Tebow.

C of Charleston...please ...a team that lost to Liberty by 42 and returned a grand total of 12 starters..scheduling them should be criminal.

Troy....an 8-6 team that beats up on the Alcorn States of the world and returns 9 starters...........another funny one...Gators may hang up a 100...

Tennessee...Jonothan Crompton....nuff said......wow they hung 62 on Western Northern Southeastern Kentucky Tech...must be great this year.....

Kentucky......Mike Hartline.......terrible defense and an offense minus 4 skill position starters.....a 40 point win....

LSU...beat Washington that won how many last year? and starts 4 freshmen....by how many...oh yeah...8...and a QB that throws the most beautiful catch either end of the tumbling football passes you ever seen....a 21 point win....

Arkansas........lol.......Houston you Nutt for taking that job.........50....

Miss. State......people it is Misssissippi State......30...and who is their QB?

Georgia...well I think Joe Cox proved his worth and a defense that could not stop a team that could not walk and chew gum at the same time other that Dez......yeah.......21 point win....

Vandy.....open date is favored by 20 over them..............35 point win.

South Carolina.....7 damn points against NC State.......you think Stephen Garcia will be in school or jail by then?

FIU...............boy they need this break in the schedule......40.....

Florida State........good offense against sophomores and RS freshmen from Miami but at least a year away as are the Canes......defense.....Gators may score 70.........................

It is a two game season for the Gators and the SEC....the winner of Bama/Ole Miss plays Florida in Atlanta and then the NC game.....the only thing playing into FSU or Bama/Ole Miss's laps is the fact the Gators will not be tested and how they respond. With Tebow they will respond fine, but to say we will know how good they are is IMHO not accurate until they are tested .... and that ain't happenin for a long time until Atlanta......

Aren't the starters on defense (the secondary) basically the same though? Major Wright, Joe Haden, Wandy Pierre Louis. Don't get me wrong, I like their unit. One of the best in the country, but it's nice to have such a great pass rush. It can make a secondary look REAL good. FSU's O-Line looked great last night, so I think they can score some points. No way they stop the UF offense though.

I'm not doubting the effect of a good pass rush but all 4 of these guys have great ball skills and instincts as well. By saying they are different than those examples I meant experience more so than personnel, even though there are a couple new guys.

FSU will get destroyed by Florida. I don't know how it's even a discussion. I hate the Gators and grew up an hour from Tallahassee. I would love to be wrong.
