I sincerely hope not, if Roth and Rosenhaus cross Sparano and Tuna like that roth will sit on the PUP for the rest of the season I could not imagine anything more disrespectful to them.

    I agree.

I think Roth might be lying because when he told the team he was ill, they ordered blood tests and everything came back negative.

And now Sparano is upset with him.

PFT also reminds us that Drew tweeted in May about Roth wanting an extension. That may have nothing to do with this. And what player doesn't want to re-up in the last year of his deal? I think that has nothing to do with this. He is NOT holding out IMO.

More likely, I think Roth's groin is acting up again and he doesn't want to tell the team about it. So he's trying to buy himself a few days at the beginning of camp to rest it.

The contract probably plays a small part, no matter what he says. Roth's a proven warrior. But nobody wants to be labeled 'injury-prone'. Especially when you're playing for your next contract.

Put yourself in Roth's cleets.... you start almost every game last season, your first season as a full time starter. The team turns around under a new regime, wins the division. As a SSLB you grade out very well. You go into the offseason thinking you should get an extension as you're heading into the final season of your rookie contract making $500k (less than the veteran minimum IIRC). The Phins not only pay a record contract (for a CFL player) to a guy who could be your replacement, Cameron Wake, but then sign the star player from the old regime in Jason Taylor. Both these guys are scheduled to make more than you, the returning starter. It all makes sense if he and his agent made up a plan of attack in holding out by not "holding out." The problem is, they had different stories...

It's also coincidental that Sparano talked up both JT and Wake during yesterday's presser. They both had great days according to the twits (I'm calling the local reporters who tweet "twits"... since I follow them, does that make me a twat?)

You guys are getting all worked up from a rumor from Armando Salguero. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't he the one who started the "John Beck is cut" rumor last offseason?

I think this is pure speculation and just someone trying to make a story out of nothing. I've seen Roth play in college moreso than most here and I highly doubt that Roth would pull something like this. It's not in his character. He has a better work ethic than 98% of the NFL athletes out there so for some to trash him before hearing any facts... Unbelievable.

It's not just Armando. It's just too easy to speculate. Thanks for your inside insight though. :hi5:

 I am very good at making fun of myself. Seriously, I want nothing more than Roth to be our SSLB, excellent vs the run but I think he needs to do a better job of pressuring the qb. It's a dilemma for the Phins, how do you pay a guy like that?

It's really not that bad. If you can't laugh at yourself, how can you laugh at others... or something.

This thread got way more serious then I thought it would. I thought the season started and we had better things to talk about?
