I don't believe that is true. Fedor would have to be the world's biggest fool to allow his management to turn that down. He would NEVER be able to make that kind of money fighting cans for M-1.

There's no way he's THAT stupid.

You doubt that Dana White has the pull to make that fight happen? Are you kidding me?

Griffin is the much bigger, stronger man. Silva won't be effective in the clinch or on the ground with Griffin. And that's where Griffin is going to want to take the fight, inside the range of Silva's strikes. I think Griffin will be able to control position, and grind out a decision.

    If the offer is true...
    wow....just wow.

Untill proven otherwise, im not betting against Anderson.
But i do believe that forrest has a better chance vs him then most of the fighters he has fought already because of several reasons.

    A) Forrest got heart. He is a ballsy guy. he may not be fastest, or strongest, but he is ballsy, and he won't be afraid, thats for sure.

    B) Griffin has a knack for winning fights he isnt supposed to. Rampage, Shogun.

would i be suprised at very least if Forrest gets KtFOd? No, don't think so.
Will I be suprised if forrest pulls out the upset? again, no, not really. I think of anybody can do it, it would be him.

I agree with you on the Griffin issue Mark, he is a winner, he finds ways. IMO he was overpowered against Rashad...he will not be over powered against Spider. If that offer is true and Fedor passes on it....wow..

Again, the UFC is making SERIOUS, UNPRECIDENTED compromises here. And again, Finkelstein has not made a single one. Not one. All they have to do is make ONE. He and his cronies must be the only people in the world that their stipulation makes sense to.

The UFC has gone above and beyond. They shouldn't go one step further. It truly is a shame. If this isn't good enough for Fedor and his people, it was nice knowing you. Like Sick said, I've enjoyed the hell out of the UFC without Fedor. He isn't bigger than the UFC or the sport.

    You know what else?

If this is true, regardless of whether he signs, my affinity for Fedor will likely wane after this. That is an insane contract. And for him not to sign it is plain disrespectful IMO.

Instead of being the people's champ coming in to face hated Brock, some people may end up resenting these tactics and root against Fedor.

I doubt that it's a decision they make if Silva beats Griffin. I just think they'll go in a different direction.

Griffin is not the bigger, stronger man. He's never been overpowering and if you really think strength matters then ask Irwin and Marquardt how that worked out for them against Silva.

If Griffin tries to take the fight inside then he's going to be Rich Franklin 2.0, knees to the nose from the clinch and it's a wrap.

Forrest is scrappy, but he doesn't have the chin to survive with someone as well-rounded as Silva.

If you seriously think that Griffin isn't bigger or stronger than Anderson Silva, you need to watch more MMA. Griffin is 6'3" and walks around at 225-230. Silva is 6'2" and walks around at 205-210. Do the math, man. Silva doesn't have to cut much weight, if any, to make 205. Griffin cuts a lot of weight.

Once again, Silva won't be able to control Griffin in the clinch or on the ground, because of the size difference. Unless he completely destroys Griffin on the feet, I'm tellin' ya he's going to have his hands full.

Even Fedor's brother knows what's up. Check out this quote from sports.ru:

“You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about “strict” contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights.”

Finkelstein is a Svengali, and Fedor is too stupid to see it.

I have no respect for Fedor as long as he allows Finkelstein to control him.

So if Griffin has to cut a lot of weight then that means he's going to be stronger? If you think that's true then you're the one that needs to learn more about the sport.

Did you really think that Silva was going to have an easy a time controlling Franklin (twice) as he did?

Generally speaking, yes. If you compare two athletes who are in amazing shape and work out all the time lifting weights and such, the guy who weighs 20-30 pounds more than the other will be the stronger man. That is a fact.

That's why God invented weight classes, son.

I didn't think Silva would win the first fight against Franklin, and I KNEW he was going to destroy him the second fight.

its not just about strength though. its also about leverage, which Silva is a monster at with his BJJ. do i think Silva is going to walk through Griffin? absolutely not. Griffin is to much of a fighter to let that happen. but Silva is going to win IMO.

    Ok, old man.

They aren't fighting at 230 and 205. You say this is why they invented weight classes and then ignore the fact that they have to make the same weight. Ooook.

The athlete who's in amazing shape, but still has to lose 20-30lbs to make weight is putting a lot more stress on his body and potentially losing a lot more energy right before the fight.

Whereas the amazing athlete who walks around right at the catch weight, doesn't have to go through any stress and can go into the fight with his body at peak performance because he doesn't hve to worry about any of that.

So you admit that you had no idea Silva would even win against Franklin (whom he destroyed twice). I guess it's fair to say you underestimated him against a fighter like Franklin (who does resemble Griffin).

actually technically they will be fighting at 230 or so and 205. Griffin will be closer to 230 then 205 come fight time.

    I don't think he's going to re-hydrate 25lbs the night before. I could see 10 being reasonable.

Forrest is pretty lean and I don't see him blowing up like that. He's never looked huge at 205 before.

    That's comedy!

I do admit that I didnt' think Silva would beat Franklin the first time. Franklin was the clear-cut favorite going in to that fight, and I don't know anybody that predicted that fight being as lop-sided as it was.

I predicted Silva to destroy Franklin again for the second fight.

Franklin is smaller than Griffin. Griffin is a large 205'er, man. When you see him standing next to Anderson Silva on Aug. 8th, you'll see the size difference.

I am saying that Anderson Silva is moving up in weight, and he will be at a distinct disadvantage in size and strength.

I just don't see that being as big of a disadvantage.

He's already proven that he can beat much larger and stronger guys on many occasions.

    Irwin
    Henderson
    Marquardt
    Franklin

All these guys had that advantage and aside from Henderson, none of them did a damn thing. Knowing that, I don't see how anyone can really think that's a big factor anymore.

Of the guys on that list, Irvin is the only guy he fought at 205, and the only true 205 pounder. Henderson and Franklin go up and fight at 205, but are not true 205ers, IMO.

Big deal, he destroyed the Sandman. We'll just see how he does against a REAL 205 pound fighter. He may win, but I think Forrest will wear him down.

Is there some kind of magic power that a fighter gets at 205?

You said the size and power was the disadvantage. He had the same disadvantage many times before. He fought guys that had the same size differential so what's the difference if it was at 185 or 205? Sure, he's coming up in weight, but I really doubt he adds 20lbs of fat to get there. Didn't seem to have much effect on his skills when he did it before.

How's Forrest going to wear him down? Silva is a liiiittle more skilled than Rampage. I don't think leg kicks are going to be enough to confuse him and keep him preoccupied. IMO, Forrest doesn't have the chin or the power to fight 5 rounds with Silva.

My prediction is that Silva wins or at the very least keeps up with Forrest standing and that eventually the fight ends up on the ground. From there, I see Silva submitting Griffin pretty easily. If Forrest's only real advantage is that he's "a bigger and stronger, real 205er" then I think he's in deep ****. We all know Forrest has never been known for his strength or punching power either.

No, there's no "magic power", just real-life strength.

He only had that kind of disadvantage ONCE, man. He only fought one fight at 205, against Irvin. There's a big difference between a guy who cuts 15-25 pounds to get down to 205 (Griffin, Irvin) and a guy that walks around at 205-210 (Silva, Franklin, Henderson, Marquardt).

Like I said, we'll see what happens in the fight next Saturday. If Silva fights like he has the last 2 fights (which I think he will), he is going to lose.

I will gladly place an avatar bet on this fight with you, my friend (hint, hint).

Say what you want, but Dana cares about the UFC and the fans. He went to bat and they don't want to play ball.

I agree with Dana. It sounds juvenile, but I could care less about Fedor now. The UFC bent over backwards and they didn't give an inch. Somehow the contract that is good enough for Anderson Silva, GSP, BJ Penn, Brock Lesnar, and on and on.....check that, BETTER than any deal they ever got......is considered beneath them.

The UFC went to unprecedented lengths to make this happen. And if it's not good enough, well then he ain't worth the time. What M-1 is asking is not only unreasonable, it's RIDICULOUS.

So yeah, I could care less now because he's not interesting anymore. There isn't a single interesting fight out there for him.

    Bon voyage!

I agree with you about Dana. The guy can be a d**k but he has put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into turning that company into a juggernaut, not just for the money but for the fansand wants to protect what he has built, along with Lorenzo and Frank. With everything from this to changing the card at 103, you can see he wants to put up the best possible fights for the fans.
