You're being a little harsh, IMO. I thought it was a cool addition to the game and you can't put a 10 minute halftime show into a game. It catches you up on the rest of the league action quickly. People have short attention spans, they aren't going to want to watch it much longer. It is what it is... considering they have real people being CGed with actual voices... it gives them limits. When they cannot control/estimate how everyone's game will go, then it gives them even more limits. There's absolutely no way they will or even should have the quality of an actual NFL halftime show.
I am looking forward to it, i saw the ign video and i like seeing the stats and other scores at halftime. I want there to be more TV style presentation and interaction instead of just a stale sim menu system. That's what i loved about 2k5.
How about Berman's "Fastest Three Minutes." Also I agree with what you said...it would be great if they could make a nice halftime show with highlights from games all through the week's action but even for me that seems like that may be a bit too much. Even 2k5's halftime show was quite terrible only showing a couple highlight plays which were usually something stupid like a field goal. Just the fact that they are adding a feature that was out 5 years ago is reason enough to celebrate.
But imo i do not want to see real people, its a video game, and them showing real commentator and then showing the video game, it takes away from it. i do like them showing what the rest of the league is doing, but they could have done a lot better job imo
yeah, its the same as opening warmups... its like the Smackdown vs Raw games, you watch the intros the first few times, then you skip them after a while
I watched the half time report and the Prime Time everytime with 2k5. I thought it was great fun and helped immersed myself in the experience more
Having fake people takes away the simulation and realistic feel. I like the way they did it. Madden is always a damn if you do, damned if you don't franchise. People expect too much from a team that has a year to work on a game each year. People want better graphics, better gameplay, more features, more this and that... you can't have everything though.
People want to get their information fast these days... It went from watching Sportscenter to see if your team won... to looking at the bottom ticker on ESPN... to clicking three times on ESPN.com... Now it's getting to the point where SMS text messages are being sent to you. People want instant information and having a presentation the way Madden delivers it.. gives you just that.
i feel having real people then having fake people takes away from the realistic feel more then having fake commentators and fake players... the real commentators are showing fake player highlights just dont do it for me
If they wouldn't try to bang out a new game every year they could get it all done. Or split it between a couple different divisions. CoD has done a good job of this I think... having two companies alternate years
And CoD is extremely hit or miss, IMO. Madden just can't win in most cases because people are too stubborn to change their opinion on them regardless of what they do.
or.... they know they can put out utter garbage and still sell 5 million copies due to the lack of competition, so why worry?
They can do that. However I have played much, much, much, much worse football games than what madden has put out
