one thing thats nice about walking and jogging, fitness and all... i did a small family vacation to NYC, and we mustve walked for 10 miles over 3 days. all over central park, all the way down broadway, through times square, etc. i did a jog through the park one evening. and normally, my legs would kill after all that, but because ive kept up with my running and workouts, i felt fine the whole time.
Yeah my.. (Step mom?) was saying how sore I'd be today. Now grant it, I haven't really moved all that far.. but at the moment yesterday after i stopped seems worse. We'll see when i go to the morning kitchen trek.
That's a good sign.. you may be closer than you thought.. I'm pretty impressed you went ahead and did this bro.. I really am, well done. When you decide to go for this, maybe we can sponser your walk for a charity or something like that.. make it a win/win!
cool in my blog i stated I'd like to see if people would donate to http://www.civilwar.org.. has little to do with walking but i commend what they're trying to do. but if TP theoretically wants to get behind me for whatever purpose it wants to as well.. well who am i to argue? i mean i'm going to do it regardless so the more the merrier i always say
Just a thought.. when I rode the 50 mi. for charity every year, I went to all my friends and business contacts and asked them to sponsor 10 cents a mile, most were more generous (times were better then) but it adds up if you have enough sponsors.. you are well liked here and I think you would be surprised at the support your fellow members would give you.. I had forgotten your comments about the Secession War battlefields.. a worthy cause in "my" eyes!
Yeah once I get to the point where I feel like I could do 50 I'll be sure to make a post with details and donations and the like. I'm also going to go around to people i know to donate, post to all social networks, etc all. i'm pretty sure i'll get a decent bit of donations (i hope) so long as people have it to give i'm not worried about it either way. it will be a huge accomplishment for me personally and even if no one else does donate I may donate my own membership and write them a letter and tell them that I am walking for their cause. i am going to notify them a bit down the road. maybe some other people around here would walk with me, who knows?
so, this training program i was talking about in my first post. i've taken a screenshot of it. it says in 8 weeks i can walk 50. like i said in my blog it's a bit much. the training seems fine to me and after walking 20 in one day the weeks up until the last one seem entirely possible. the only thing is.. i would much rather have a year to prep myself just so i'm that much more acclimated to walking that far. what i'm curious of (and i know you're not all doctors) is can i follow this training schedule for a year.. or would it be way too much? they have other schedules for further down the road time periods but i have to find the site again.. here is the picture.
